Petition to legalize and regulate marijuana just like alcohol

Are you serious right now?

What's the problem with people standing behind a cause, be it an online petition or some other form? The point of this thread is to get this noticed. Just because an online petition might not get as much attention as some other media doesn't mean it's useless.

Every effort counts.

People would get high, and it's harder to spot when you are high. there would be people who get high and drive, high and go to work.

why wouldnt they legalize weed and take off alocohol? It's much more harmful..

Fuck william randolf hearst.

So many industries would be fucked if weed were legal. I mean look, we're putting fucking corn ethanol in our gasoline and calling it alternative fuel.

But it's going to be the same as it ever was'd as long as we keep putting these fucking assclowns into the whitehouse.

Corn ethanol is a fucking pathetic attempt at alternative fuel. It takes as much fossil fuel energy to MAKE the ethanol as you get out of it.

Also, what the fuck are we gonna do with the electric cars when their batteries die? How are we going to dispose of them? That shit is horrific for the environment.

Not to mention have you ever seen a fucking nickel mine where they mine the nickel for the batteries?

It's worse for the environment than pouring pure crude into the ocean is.

IF you want to try and get Marijuana legalized on a national level, I think you need to work a little bit more in your community through medical marijuana. Medical Marijuana has become legal in 15 or 16 states (I think) and is increasing in popularity. I know that in many places you can get a "recommendation" from most any small problem, disease, or discomfort, you don't need AIDs to get legal weed. If you haven't tried yet, at least try to get medical marijuana, it couldn't hurt you in any way. Hopefully, as medical marijuana gains popularity, more people will become more open to it when they realize alot of pot-smokers aren't horrible failures and are in many cases leading figures in their communities. Think about it, if there were 10 million people legally getting high in America, it would have a much greater effect than 5000 "criminals" signing some national petition.

No real facts to back this up but just seems like a good idea to me

This

A president says we're going to find alternative fuels, I'm going to save the economy, I'm just telling you what you want to hear.

Then people are so shocked that nothing actually get's done.

It'd be fucking dope if at some point we actually put some effort into both finding alternatives and putting them into use.

Not going to be surprised when gas goes well over 5 bucks a gallon soon and we still are almost solely relying on it for a fuel source.

I agree. I mean yeah, electric cars are a great money saving alternative and over time they will save you a lot of money by not filling up at the tank 4 times a week at the pump but the disposal of them is terrible.

Sorry to bring off-topic discussions into this thread but I am all for legalizing marijuana. I think we will see the day of some sort of legalization or decriminalization of it.

Its easy to say the disposal of electric batteries is horrible for the environment, but you have to keep in mind that any sort of energy we use will have side effects. Oil refineries spew toxic waste that is proven to cause cancer. Gas combustion can cause global warming (debatable). Natural Gas has similar effects. Nuclear energy produces radioactive waste. Solar and Wind energy both cost more fossil fuel energy than they produce.

And to the guy who says biodiesel costs more fossil fuel energy than it produces, do some research. Biodiesel is actually energy positive (over a 3 to 1 ratio) although it does use agricultural land, produces agricultural waste and can cause an under supply of products such as corn.

Haha if you want to start an energy thread to argue I'd be totally down

I didn't say Biodiesel though, I said corn ethanol. It's two different things. It takes fossil fuels to grow the corn, it takes fossil fuels to harvest the corn, it takes fossil fuels to transport said corn, and it takes fossil fuels to refine said corn into corn ETHANOL which is not BIODIESEL in case you can't read.

New to NS first time poster, marijuana smoker. I think that it is better without the government stepping in and ruining a good thing.

I hear you the beginning. I wut at your ending.

We subsidize the fuck out of corn. IF we grew hemp instead so much fucking corn we'd be far better off.

And who in hear is arguing biodiesel is a waste?

Oh i see where he was arguing.

Corn ethanol is the biggest fucking joke, kid should read a book. Calling that biodiesel or a real alternative fuel source is lol wut.

HEMP FOR FUEL YO

Henry ford knew what was up

My bad I assumed you were talking about biodiesel because biodiesel is made from vegetable oils (corn) and ethanol. I wasn't thinking for a second haha

lol kid how old are you?

the say that your online "petition" is just about the biggest waste of time i've ever seen.

if you want marijuana to be legalized stop creating a scene and instigating stupid e-battles like this. downplay marijuana use instead of FIGHTING for it's legal status; because like the abortionator said the government isn't keeping weed illegal to prevent a whole bunch of teenagers from getting high, listening to jazz music and rapping young white women.

trust me dude, you're just not seeing the whole picture. and this is all coming from a license MMJ card holder.

I just said that I realize that this wont have any kind of crazy influence on the issue. I understand that the issue is not that simple.

What I'm saying is that it's extremely easy to sign, so why wouldn't you?

My least favorite people in the world are the people that ask you to sign this on the streets. Fuck you.

I like this post a lot

\

especially" the government isn't keeping weed illegal to prevent a whole bunch of teenagers from getting high, listening to jazz music and rapping young white women. "

Ethanol is A "energy negative fuel". As is bio deseil. In other words it takes more fuel to make than it creates sooo this would never work

If we're still talking about corn ethanol here, it's one of the least efficient fuels we could try and use.

HEMP FOR FUEL. Also my good buddy has two veggie converted benzos. just drive for the sake of driving. Hit up some places for veggie oil.

hey hey hey hey, smoke weed erry day

I don't actually smoke, but am completely for legalizing marijuana and consequently every other drug out there.

Your body. Do what you want with it. Who's place is it to say someone shouldn't be allowed to inject heroin into their veins. They can say the shouldn't, but not that they're not allowed. The people who would do drugs if they're legal are the same people who do them regardless. And having all drugs legal means less drug use. Portugal is a great example. Go look it up. plus legal drugs means clean drugs and safe sources. so much more to be said about it

I feel like I should be arguing with someone about this but I don't even think I'm on the same tracks as the rest of the thread.

An oil and gas engineer I know told me that there has been some success in using solar to produce ethanol with a net positive. Just dawned on me that this has nothing to do with original topic. LOL.

Just the start of a debate that I found that highlights on the reasons to legalize.

don't get me wrong, i wouldn't mind legalization, it's just that i don't really care because the illegality of marijuana hasn't affected my use of it. i live in Canada though, so it's less of a big deal than it would be if i lived in the US.

I don't even smoke anymore. It's just a matter of principle though. I don't like governments telling me what I can and can't do with my own body.

And I fucking hate big pharmy companies

yeah my point is that just cause the government says i can't do something doesn't mean i'm not gonna anyways.

Normal diesel does the exact same thing though. We had a Volkswagen Diesel and went to ski Crested Butte. We stayed in Gunnison, which is frigid and had to keep the car running all night so it didn't seize up.

i don't even know if it should be legal, maybe I'm one of the few but its fun sneaking around and risking shit to do it. you don't huck off a 60 foot jump because its safe, and taking the risk away at least in my opinion would make it less fun.

that being said it would be really cool to walk down the street smoking out of a bong without getting the dirtiest looks ever from everyone you walk by. In all honesty pot doesn't hurt people. it doesn't always lead to the best decisions but neither does alcohol, why the fuck is the depressant legal when something that 99% of the time does nothing but make you happy and friendly illegal?

there is no danger doing pot. there is no ill side effects that are any worse then drinking or smoking which are both legal. as long as there is laws regulating it such as no smoking and driving there shouldnt be any problem. If people were stoned they probably would cause a lot less fights then the drunk people cause.

Well, it's a damn good thing I didn't drive my Panzer to Crested Butte, isn't it? The turret kept fucking up my ski rack anyways.

This is one of the stupidest things I've heard. taking the risk away would make it less fun? Do you honestly think that when you go get stoned? "omg, the police could totally catch and arrest me, this is SOO much fun."Plenty of reasons for legalizing, all of which have been mentioned. It got prohibited in the first place for bullshit reasons, less harmful than many things which are legal, and the drug war has been failing miserably, govt, could be MAKING money on this, and instead they're spending millions and millions of dollars trying to enforce bogus laws. Government needs to open its eyes and see they can't poke their heads in through every private citizens door and tell them what they can and cannot do.

Eh, it has properties of all three. It speeds up your heart rate, which would classify it as a stimulant. It does have hallucinogenic as well as depressive properties though

I totally agree, weed doesn't cleanly fit into any single category of drug, but most people would agree that it should be included in the category of depressant. -

"Depressants are substances which slow down the normal function of the central

nervous system."

i hope your not serious, you can have fun "sneaking" around poking shmot and getting caught i want it to be that i wont get arrested and have that on my record. i dont want that shit.
