cancer treatment from cigarette smoking is a huge social cost/burden, in the billions. these billions could be much better spent on social welfare programs for underprivileged/poor who never got a chance to begin with (instead of the dumbshits who get addicted to cigarettes), the environment (global warming prevention), wildlife protection, renewable energy development, job creation, education, human/equal rights activism...and hundreds of causes much more deserving of the TAXPAYERS' hard-earned money.
anyone who says "why should i care what other people do" is either a spoiled kid who has no conception of the real world and that money does not in fact grow on trees, or a complete idiot (or both i suppose).
seeing as 78% of people on ns are 18+, i am inclined to assume the latter. if u dont care what other people are doing, u damn well should, idiot.
next time (and I PROMISE this will happen to you as you grow up or wise up) there is an issue in which you deeply care about and in which other people hold opposing views, just think to yourself "why should i care what other people do?"
FOR EXAMPLE: noobs/gapers who go off the biggest jump in the terrain park to impress some chick, wreck super hard and become paralyzed, and then sue the resort/group of resorts for medical care compensation. these resorts end up taking some action which deprives us of our enjoyment for getting rad on snow.
EVERYONE'S INDIVIDUAL ACTIONS INFLUENCE EVERYONE ELSE. this is why you should care what others do, even if it seems like their mundane action only screws themselves over.
please do not be selfish, and care about what others do. if everyone does not, then everyone is f'ed...except for the trust fund babies.
jah bless, or whatever/
