anybody from or living in burlington vt, im wondering how the city is. im looking to possibly accept a position up there and would like to hear what its like. i visited once for the interview and it looked nice but didnt really get to go around and see whats going on...any feedbacks much appreciated

if your in your twenties or so, youll love it.

super good for skiing

pretty good nightlife, especially for not a huge place.

safe atmosphere, you never feel unsafe at night.

summer up here is absolutly amazing endless amounts of stuff to do.

everyone is pretty laid back and friendly.

rent is not cheap and if you dont want a college town feel, the place isnt for you.

but honestly,

i haven't been to many places i like better than b town.

^tyler said most of it, I grew up here, and love it, I'm going to college right now in utah but only because I needed to get away from home and wanted to ski some REALLY good mountains, though the east is always my home. Lots of fun resorts around here, tons to do all year, and the only difference I would say to what tyler said is the college town feel, I live in the "new north end" of burlington which is pretty much the other half of the city, (the highschool and north beach lie in the middle), but it definitely depends on where in burlington you're living. I live in a small suburban area, 10 minutes from downtown and no where near any college apartments etc... Lake+mountains+all seasons+small city=top ten cities in america to live, though I've been told it definitely isn't the cheapest living here... that seems sufficient

that seems to be the general concensus on the city that ive heard so far... my main concern is with the age... i have these impressions just from what i saw that its either college kids, or the 40+ year olds... no in between. i have no problem with it being a college town (that probably adds to the appeal) but i wouldnt want to be that guy out of school hangin out around all the college hot spots ... hopefully i just got the wrong impression

its pretty sick with the oceanstyle lake , drinking brews out on

chruch st enjoying a spliff.. tons of ridiculous urban everywhere now

that theres snow. I got a 2bdrm downtown and its pretty chill if your

college age.. bolton is only 20 mins away, stowe 45 , lots of places to

jib if your into that . Not the cheapest place but its cheaper than my

hometown, Everything is close by , even though I usually just drive . definitely has to be 10 top ten cities to live in, has a sick feel to most of the area, some of the best breweries, pretty good food..

I visit there all the time, its amazing. So much fun and its big enough so that it doesn't give off a strong college-town feeling.

nah ive been on a 12 month vacation , not going to college right now but i need to start workin up here and taking one or two classes

i got a place on south winooski ave couple blocks from downtown. its a nice town. the summer here is amazing. plenty to do downtown if you are over 21. bars concerts, festivals. winter isn't as exciting, but its not too bad. september is a really high crime time regardless of how safe this town is the rest of the year. This september there was at least one house broken into every day, including my own. I also got assaulted in broad daylight outside the banknorth downtown, and they ran off with my longboard. Boys in blue did a good job takn the dicks out though. if you smoke weed, there are all kinds of buds around here.

i really hate the wana-be-hippies who try and pull their "headie outdoor jamband nugs" shit on me, outdoor bud = leafy... dank hydro > outdoor anydayy

I love Burlington, pretty much one of the best towns on the EC. everyone else pretty much covered it but i'll just second what they said!

if you like outdoors stuff, then this is the place for you! not to mention it's gorgeous, VT peeps can be a little quirky, but they are mostly chill. everyone is really socially conscious and i feel like i live in a protected little bubble up here (which can be a good or a bad thing)! not to mention the fact that last winter was epic and this winter so far has been better then my whole season last year, I keep forgetting i'm on the east coast. ya what else, oh it can get mighty cold so make sure you have a good down jacket!

yeah... when i went, i couldn't believe it was the biggest city in vt. its no bigger than a philly suburb... def. had a real good feel to it tho

I've lived in multiple college towns due to my father occupation, litterally all my life. I now live in burlington on my own and i have for the past year. its really nice. These guys are right it's a great city. you can do the whole party thing if you want, or just a few blocks away there is plenty of neighborhoods that are more laid back. Nice scenery, Nice people, Nice town.
