PCMR will dismantle lifts if they lose lawsuit

You really think if Vail purchases/leases/manages PCMR you will see a difference. Canyons didn't have any different "feel" to it. Most of Vail's resorts all have their own personality and uniqueness. Have you ever skied Kirkwood? It's world's different from Heavenly, let alone Beaver Creek.

Vail purchasing PCMR wouldn't take the ski town of out Park City. In reality, once the dust settles from the purchase, very few people will notice a difference. I'm sure there will be a bit of a shake up regarding higher management at PCMR, but other than that, the town of Park City will continue to be awesome

but what happens when pcmr losses their current managers. they have an extremley unique way with their resort that basically tailors to newschoolers. i feel like big wigs at talisker run more traditional mountains...[/QUOTE]

I really don't think much will change. Plus talisker has absolutely nothing to do with management. They are simply landlords. As Andy said, Vail isn't going to make any drastic changes unless pcmr is losing money. Keystone and Breck are very park oriented; Vail isn't anti-park by any means. Its not like pwdr corp is a hodunk mom and pop corporation either.

I've watched the Canyons purchase/management transition from talisker to Vail first hand and very few things hanged, from job positions to the resorts mantra and feeling. Maybe 25 jobs out if 1000+ changed due to new ownership. After pcmr's mismanagement/dropping the ball on renewing the lease, it might not be bad to have different management running such a crown jewel in the ski industry.

Just out of curiosity, what does everyone see as the downside to having Vail own/manage PC Mr?

Honestly dude, Canyons patrol and ski school has been shit-tier this year. The park got 0 funding for anything - a local race academy took over the large park run for their team devo races 3 weeks in a row while PCMR was hosting the Olympic trials for Slope and Pipe. Park crew there got dumpstered this season. I'm really, *really* not impressed with Vail right now.

Vail runs an excellent business but I can't say the same for how they run a ski resort. I've been a little closer to the Talisker/Vail transition than you, dude, and I haven't been very impressed. They did not seem to care about the employees (especially the ski instructors), and most of all, they fucked up the change of hands of Canyons ski patrol.

With Olympic trials held at PCMR and Woodward moving in, Vail just wants in on the amazing revenue our Olympic legacy past and present will bring to this town in the next few years - specifically in the freeskiing/freestyle/snowboarding world. Vail assumes they're owed involvement in that and they're going to badger their way in to it.

PCMR admitted to the mistake with the lease, but Talisker also conveniently misplaced several correspondence with Powdr about renewal dates on the lease. Talisker did a wonderful sleight-of-hand on this and now it looks like PCMR is totally to blame.

PCMR owns their base, their equipment, and their water rights outright. If Talisker/Vail really do play hardball PCMR can fuck them, and this town, over very hard. The question then is who is Woodward going to sue...

yes but it would be a pain in the ass for them

I also feel like it would take them a good while for them to build a bunch of new lifts, Meaning we probably won't get to ski it right away

That's what they want, yeah. Not going to happen though.

i don't see how this legally could happen , due to laws in place that prevent mergers of companies that could hurt consumers. their called anti-trust laws and you probably learned about them in 8th grade

Even though PC doesnt have the best terrain to ski, shreding park laps at PC is still one of the best things to do in utah in the winter, that is if you like skiing park. I love shredding pow, wide open bowls, trees and such but something about a bluebird 30 degree day at PC thats fucking awesome.

I have no idea probably but didn't people complain constantly about pcmr in the past about the shitty management? I remember reading topics about how the big line was always flat and took forever to get their jumps up etc...

And even then park city has Jupiter if you want to go to a bowl. By no means though is it comparable to the bird for that type of riding though.

obviously, canyons/deer valley have a little bit more, but its nothing compared to the cottonwoods.

so yeah, you're retarded if you ski PC area resorts solely for the big mtn aspect. they have some fun spots, though.

Knowing what vail has done to a local hill near me, promising millions in improvements and literally doing nothing except adding epic passes and stupid marketing campaigns... I really don't trust them at all, park city is awesome as it is and vail better keep their hands off of that.

They added a better jump line, more rails, and an awesome signature feature to Afton. While it's not as much as they promised, it's definitely something

Woodward is owned by powder corp, and is also suffering from this lawsuit.
