Pat's Peak Park Update 12/11/10

I was out working and raking tonight. Stuff is getting really icy, but the jump lips were remade on thursday and are doing pretty good. Tomorrow, me and another park ranger are going to set in that yellow rail as a down bar, and possibly the corregated tube if we can. We're hoping to start building on F5 at the start of this week.

I'm not sure if the stairset is staying in. Turbulence won't be rebuilt until there is more snow blown in it, and until F5 is done

you guys should keep the staircase in and just build around it.. for example put some rails where the starting area is for the stair case

this.. i know there is not much the park crew can do about it, but im honestly getting pretty pissed off with pats peak.. i bought a seasons pass hoping that the park would be like it was last year.. and in years past I knew that pats always had there park set up earlier than most mountains around me.. i have been to pats 9 times already this season and weekend after weekend things are exactly how they were the weekend before... I went to Gunstock the other day and was amazed at how great there park was already, and i plan on buying a pass there next year even though the locals at pats are way more chill than the gunstock locals..

They haven't made enough snow for us to add another jump. We do want to have three decently sized jumps in Turbulence. It's been a really slow start to the parks this year.

yea i hear ya... u guys should just make the lines that u did last year. it was nice cuz gapers hit the right and we had nice jumps on the left. plus the rails were fun. it was the best lap last year. this year is fun but i feel like i hit nothing. and its cold so idk y pats isnt blowing snow.

the park has had a slow year this season. which sucks but hey what can we do. the weather has been wierd and management has probably been gay

Hey man, when did the third jump go up i was there saturday night and there were two, did you add it today or is it being built tonight? But other than that question it is a good ride and smooth so ya, i like it

again i know this is not the park crews fault what so ever, but honestly im never gonna buy seasons pass to pats again.. it was a complete waste of money which is unfortunate. The fact that the management wont blow snow in the park baffles me

I am in agreement with Pat's dissapointments. Gunstock may only have 3 or so rails up now but at least they have a whole arsenal they plan on putting in soon, and they've got a 25, 30, 40, 55 jump line in right now which is awesome. It's not anyone's fault in particular I just think they need to understand how much money their park could generate for them from kids like us who live nearby but have to go elsewhere. Also any news on if they ever figured out how to use the park groomer? That might help out a bit.

Sorry guys, kind of mislead you. I heard wrong and it is only two jumps :( Supposed to be a 45 and 35 though. F5 is getting built today so get stoked on that! As for the rest of Turbulence after the jumps, I'm not so sure. Hopefully you'll be happy to hear that we're trying to keep gapers out. Yesterday we implemented a "gaper net" to catch gapers. We set up two of the sobe fences so there was a smaller entrance with the experts only sign right in front of it. If you couldn't make it through the opening you got stuck in the net. We saw a couple gaper hits the thing so it must have worked pretty well

this is perfect dude, i love the idea of a "Gaper Net" it is cool and also cool that the jumps are going to be increased in size

yea this isnt bad at all.... and the bigger the jumps. the less gapers in the park. but by a 35 and a 45 u mean a 20 and a 25 cuz pats doesnt knwo how to measure jumps. like last year there 35's for like 15-20's

There is no way a 35 45 pair of jumps will work speed-wise. The two right now are about 15, maaaaaaaybe 20 if you take them deep, and you have to straightline from the upper section to do so....

Dammit... I also think Pats should add a flat box at the end of the park for learning tricks, and carve out the 'cannon' box.

We'll have to see what happens with the jumps. But if you make the first roller larger you can get plenty of speed for a big jump, and by first roller i mean the one with the pole jam on it. As of right now we don't have another flat box to stick in. The mini one got hit by a groomer on saturday night and we had to take it out. I tried diggin out the cannon a bit more but it isn't worth it right now because we are resetting everything soon

uuugghh hate those groomers.... but after the 2 jumps u need to make a rail garden.

anyways whats goin in at f5 this year?

I'm pretty sure rails after the jumps is planned. F5 is supposed to be a rail garden which should be pretty fun considering it's on the tow and you can just lap like crazy. We're trying to just rake stuff out whenever it gets killed, or a couple times a day

Well right now my line is 180 on 180 off the butter box or bs 2 off the 'cannon', straightline to 1st jump, take it a bit deep, straightline to 2nd jump, take that just past the whole landing. Biggest size increase i could see would be 5 ft first jump, 10 on the 2nd.

I'm gonna bitch a little more and then i'll shut up. Cause i am thankful for all the hardwork that goes into it.

But i wish they would've kept the jumpline from last year exactly the same except for the last hit, which was really hard to get speed for. Take that out and put in a few rails. Then take F5 and put in a huge rail garden from top to bottom. Screw the jump.

this... my same run but i 3 the first jump land in the middle of the landing. then land deep trying to get 5's. i only get like 1/3 so i fall a lot lol. i want to get em down down

the f5 thing sounds sick though =). i will like that set up

thats wat F5 is gunna be. and i agree with u on the jumps. instead of new rails. i would rather have more space in between hits. they were kinda close last year

Well, F5 is supposed to open up tomorrow. Not sure what is in it other than a new down rail and re-done down box. Turb is supposed to get a little short term work in the morning until it can be fully rebuilt next week. The brand new fucking cat broke down out of nowhere on wednesday so it has been holding back the builds. And I'm working tomorrow night so if you see me out there hallla

might see you there, I leave around 5:00 though. Any leftovers from wednesday? Most glades won't have any base and I assume they groom all trails, minus hurricane.

1 i saw u working on friday night

2turbulence sucks the jumps r wierd and wicked icy even though we just got snow.

3 F5 look so sick but i had new skis and didnt want to eat shit on rails the whole night. im detuning em as we speak

Thanks for the compliments :D We want to get more stuff in when we can. And the problem with the rail jam is we need prizes for skiers. Also, we have to make sure there is a good turnout for skiers in order for it to work.

i would do it.... and ask ken jones ski shop in manchester. a bunch of kids who go to pats like myself dakoulas and JR go there a lot and i bet if we all competed then dylan (the owner) would throw some goggles or hoodies in for prizes

that sucks.... usually there better than that. i get mine for free when i buy something ski related such as i want to use old binders on a new ski. free mount. but they really getcha at the mount with no other purchase..... a lot of shops do that. they need to make money too. its how a business works

ken jones can suck my nads, they sell shit, shit products and they charge you like its gold, at least the one in Nashua, fack that place, unless they mount my skis for free
