Pat's Peak Park Update 12/11/10

I went to pats yesterday and i talked to a bunch of the park crew, they say there plans for this year are to have two larger jumps in turbulence like a 40 and a 35 they said. After the jumps the plan on setting up a rail garden towards the bottom. In F5 they plan on having a triple line of medium jumps kinda like how turbulence was last year. Also some rails and boxes over there.

Anyways im at pats most weekends and ill be there tomorow i wear the yellow and green tj schiller jacket with tan oakley pants.

I talked with Phil beginning of the season and told me F5 was going to be a giant rail garden from top to bottom. They were going to keep the rhythm section of 3 to 4 jumps in Turbulence like last year.

I'm kind of bummed they changed their plan. I think a giant rail garden in F5 would be the shit. I mean, there's just not enough speed in there to put a rhythm section.

well I didn't talk to Phil I talked to a bunch of the other people in the park crew, I know that Phil probably has the final say in what will happen but I think it would be sick if Pats put some bigger jumps in personally

i wish that was the case... i didnt mind the jumps last year... they werent too too bad. considering the size of actual park

also. i wear a green orage jacket. and purple orage. pants. they got orange duct tape on em cuz of holes

There are only like 4 people on park crew right now. Depending on who you talk to the plans are different. Really not sure what is happening as of now. I'm headed to Pat's to talk to Phil and get my ass on park crew. Hopefully I get on it.

do it!.... hopefully that means that they'll take skiers into consideration when making the park. on some features they dont

I have been hired! Along with Tyler who is the OP. I was out raking today if some of you saw me. What is it that you guys think is aimed more towards snowboarders? Other than the pole jam...

The main problem is, Pat's doesn't want to be spending the money to blow snow for the parks. There really isn't much more we can do with the snow that we have right now. So unless the snowmakers and management help us out, it's going to be hard to get better stuff set up

There are some good piles of snow that were started in F5 though. We'll see what happens. Just pray for snow and cold temperatures

Oh that's another one of the problems haha. Most of the mountain groomers suck with the exception of chad who helps to build the jumps and stuff but he isn't always around to groom out everything. So that is why there are always lop sided landings and such. And that new cat they got.....they still don't know how to work it.

definitely getting a pass to gunstock next year.. but if possible they should give the first jump some more kick so we dont have to worry about clipping the knuckle

None the less the parks are still going to be a lot better than last years. The key to that first jump is the just send it with tons of speed. Landing 1/2 way down the landing feels really clean

i do that like 1/2 the time when i 3 no matter how fast i go or where i start from... if u dont pop at the perfect time ur gunna knuckle.... but when u dont stop after the cannon or butter box and u land in the middle of the landing its such a smooth landing

i was there for sat night (unfortunatly) and if anyoen was there they would of seen that by like 6 the jib tube or zipper tube was rolling around the flat section after second jump.... they need to actually dig that thing in the ground then use something to make sure it wont slide down the hill like it did

Did you go there last year? And did you ever even look at their big park, or just the progression park? The big one is over on the left side of the mountain under the Pistol lift..

naw i dont ski gunstock that much, i just saw what they had setup this year, and that was on new years, and again i dont go in parks, trees or die for me :)

yeah the landing is really clean when you get over the knuckle but im scared to try any inverts on that jumps because of the knuckle

I hear ya. Just get lots of speed and make sure you pop. That is the one thing people mess up on a lot when they go to throw an invert. Be sure to pop and not just ride off the lip

I agree with that too. We want to stick in the yellow rail sometime soon after that second jump but haven't had the right snow conditions to set it in

Yeah the A Frame is definitely a wonderful addition, even though I think you guys should build a new 40' flat down box, it would be something special

maybe you could connect 2 of the flat boxes to form that. I remember 2 years ago they had a 30 foot flat down flat box they formed from 3 flat boxes

anyone want to list every feature they have up right now for me? because ill be there on friday night. also do they have that small a frame set up in the mini park?

yeah thats what i thought you meant just making sure. i think they call that thing like a zipper or something. ive never hit it dont your edges get caught in the rivets?

It doesn't suck. The first half is steeper than the first. It's all about your balance and how you shift your weight in the middle. It could be set up a little better but still, I find it insanely fun and one of my favorite features.
