Overweight =bad skier

I'm 5ft 6 and 164lbs way to over weight and that makes landings super hard and rotations are very difficult so what work outs should I do to lose that fat cause being fat SUCKS

Lmao I’m 5’6 190 rn and I ski just fine , to many beers though , I need to get back to 170ish

Depends on your definition of bad. Park tricks nah but beating your ass down the hill watch out.

OP are you 12? That seems like a reasonable size. Idk weigh def has an impact, also csn be directly related to your health etc. I would say if you feel overweight make an effort to eat better and get some cardio in. Hike the park more. Maybe get into touring, or do some non ski hiking. Maybe lift and get in shape. But a lot of skiing is muscle memory and we get soeed from gravity. You can be pretty extra and still throw down.

You don't sound that overweight butbif you're worried there's no better time to do something than now. I was just uo to 235 from being a fst fuck and giving up on life mid corona lockdown but i still feel like im in decent shape snowboarding and skating. Def trying to shred about 40 of that though and get back to where i was.

Sparknotes: If you wanna be healthier send it. If you're a little chubby and wanna get better at park keep sending it.

PS: Somebody from work just dropped off turkey dinners at my trailer, im drinking beer, and i ate reeses and kit kas on the way back from the skatepark.

Truth be told on a real note , the only time I notice my weight and lack of being in shape is 1.) when I fall. It hurts a lot more than it use to and 2.) when there is a smaller lip on to a rail And I have to jump to get on it. I usually skip those cause I’m fat and don’t want to catch up and die

The best way of losing weight is through diet. What I would do is calculate your maintenance calories and just eat less than that everyday.

Though it differs depending on age and activity level, adult males generally require 2,000-3000 calories per day to maintain weight. There are plenty of online calculators you can do to

work out what your amount is.

If you add exercise on top of this you’ll lose weight even faster.

I'm pretty lazy but I bike like 20 miles a week and cut down on beer. My rides have a lot of technical climbs and getting up a sketchy line can be pretty rewarding as well as be really good exercise.

Dude I ski with is about twice my weight and skis fine. You are being really hard on yourself.

Stay active and don’t eat tons of crap.

don't be so hard on yourself man! i'll give you the same advice I would give any other member on this site... ski with people who are better than you, its the easiest way to improve yourself and the more you ski the better you will feel!

I'm not 12

Id recommend the other side of the equation. Get in shape. I dont mean the gym, cause fuck the gym. Get into biking, hiking and rock climbing at the same time and watch that gut dissapear. Before you know it, you wont be able to stay awake past 8pm, loose track of TV and social media because you will be too tired to care

what [tag=16430]@freestyler540[/tag] said, gyms suck. do shit you love and go all in and it'll become a workout in and of itself without even knowing. and clean your diet up, don't go cold turkey and only eat salads and worthless empty food like that, go organic and start with a cleaner version of what your diet is now and taper down. eating whole organic meals will help cuz you won't get hungry in between and snack, and you won't be taking all the preservatives and gmo's that non organic food has

if you do want some workouts tho id definitely go for legs and core intensive stuff

Yeah I’m 5’7 190 rough and I’ve never thought my weight to be any issue in skiing.

Use the myfitnesspal app and count calories.

Tips for success:

1. Don't eat back exercise calories

2. Count the alcohol calories

3. Eat the 1 lb/wk "lightly active" allowance to start

4. A decent carb/fat/protien split is 30/35/35

Dude, your BMI is 26.5. Yeah technically that's "overweight" but that is on the lower end of being overweight and by no means does it mean that you should have significantly more difficulty doing tricks than a lean person unless you are trying to switch triple cork 1440. You probably have some baby fat or whatever but you're also probably blaming your struggle with landings and rotations on the wrong thing.

Damn it's insane how effortless and steezy this guy's style is despite not being lean like pretty much every other pro freeskier out there

Damn NS is all either chunky monkeys or twigs. I said eat a cheeseburger, not the whole crave case

Your weight really doesn’t matter that much in skiing. Obviously tho you want to be heavy and athletic. It’s more than likely just not being in shape or prepared for skiing. I always go for runs, stretch, do sit ups and all that junk to keep my body somewhat athletic. Another good thing to try for your coordination is jumping rope. I used to do it back when I played sports and I still do it before I run as a warm up. It really helps your coordination in your upper and lower body.

With my hiatus away from the ski industry, I became a fat video game derp. Now im back in the game and its definitely taking some time to shape back up. Was 6'1" 190 in prime, Now im around 250. But not giving up. Will shed this extra bs no problem, and still work harder than everyone else.
