Other NS'ers who have to be on a gluten free diet.

So I have celiac disease, which essentially means that my body rejects gluten (wheat). When ever I tell someone about my diet they seem to know someone else in the same situation. I was just wondering how many of you Ns'ers are on a gluten free diet, and to maybe suggest/discuss some good gluten free foods.

I'll start of with my personal favorite of Qdoba, whoever had the idea for naked burrito's is my hero.

I work at PF Changs and they have a pretty good gluten free menu...I've tried some of the dishes and they are very tasty.

Glutan intolerant, lactose intolerant, egg intolerant. But i can handle a little gluten but it def still makes me really sick. I just stay away from mass produced foods and always check breads and such

k i went to HS with this chick who was petite.
You thought petite, you thought her. Now I seen a picture of her and I go WHAT THE FLUBBBITY. Like WOW how the fuck do you get so FAT girl?
Anyways she told me she had....some sort of reaction to wheat or flour or something like that and it causes her to just pack the pounds on.

Is this even fucking for real?
Is this naything like what you have?

i'm sorry, one of my friends is a glutard, some gluten free stuff is gnarly, but he always has these super good gluten free pretzels

no, definately not anything near...for me, before i knew about the intolerance i ate wheat i got really sick and couldnot gain any weight from like 7th grade untill my sophmore year.

I dig Daves Killer Bread and beer, what can I say? = )

Honestly though, if I had to go wheat free, I'd just learn myself all things Japanese.

Every time I'm back in WA I grab a loaf of Dave's Killer Bread from my parents to smuggle down to CA. Shit's good.

My girlfriend is allergic to wheat, but fortunately not gluten. I used to hate rice, but I've learned to like it since that's about all she eats since she's allergic to corn as well.

Bring your own soy sauce and ask them to use it, La Choy is gluten free.. My lil sister can't have gluten so all growing up I never had it with my family. My mom actually became pretty good at cooking and does everything gluten free now and I can't taste the difference. Its not too bad.

I'm chill but I used to work in this pizza place and the owner's mom couldn't eat gluten. We used to make bomb mini pizzas by taking a corn tortilla, then cheese and sauce on top, then another tortilla, then toppins and a bit more cheese on top of that. So basically like a mexican pizza I guess but just made like a normal pizza instead of with beans and ground beef. Shit was good you should try it. 450-500 degrees for 5-10 minutes.

my girlfriend's mom can't have any gluten. it's a pain in the ass when i want some bread for dinner and they just don't have any cause she'll eat it even though she knows she can't.

Im not, But i work at a grocery store where almost 40 percent of their stuff is gluten free. Its called uncle guieseppes but its only on Long Island

my GF has celiacs
We go to chipotle a lot, PF changs is good... a lot of places are good - just have to be careful!

im not celiac but i have diabetes so i try to avoid gluten if i can. gluten free pancake/waffle mix at trader joes is thaaaa shiz. i recommend it.

A couple of mates have recently had to stop drinking beer after having bad reactions to it all the time. Turns out they're gluten intollerent too. Seems like so many people are these days. At least it also seems to be easier to obtain gluten free food than it used to

i have a friend who has "akylosing spondylitis", he will be gluten free for the rest of his life but he has to go vegan for the next three months and after that he gets to ween in meat or dairy for a few months and then the other for three months just to see what the root of the problem is

he has a pretty big decision coming up, meat or dairy?

I luv my glutens, but my girl has CD so at home i eat gluten free. For the most part it's not that big of a deal almost all recipes can be substituted for gf stuff. Last night I made some awesome onion rings and a homemade pizza using rice flour. Most grocery stores have a small section with some stuff and you just have to go heavy on the protein and fruits/veggies. The only thing that i find intolerable if sorghum beer, just awful.

*wave*

Haven't been able to eat it for about 4 or 5 years. At first its a nightmare, cause you basically can't eat any of your favourite foods, but it does get easier.

Restaurants are pretty cool about it nowadays, and the stuff in the supermarkets gets better all the time.

four or five years! oh my god dude, i am going on like 1 and a half , and i can barely remember what all of the old stuff tasted like.

I have Celiacs as well and am DF, I like Chipotle they really try hard to eliminate cross contamination. For protien bars I like NuGo Free bars (you have to order them online, but they taste amazing). Also try Udi's bread it tastes like normal according to my friends who aren't GF. I can tell you a million places to go in Colorado lol

good gluten free pizzas in Worcester MA. My Grandmother and Aunt are both gluten intolerant. seems like a real drag.

I wish subway was glutan free, sometimes the taste is worth knowing your going to puke in an hour

My mom has been for over 10 years. If youre into making some of your own shit check out Bob's Red Mill products. They have some really good cake/cookie/the best fucking brownies(EVER.) andpastas and all sorts of shit. check em out: http://www.bobsredmill.com/

Aaaah i used to do that. Eat something with wheat in, knowing full well you're gonna be heading for a toilet in the next ten mins

My mom cant eat gluten either. I am always looking for things that she likes. Most restaurants have gluten free menus if you ask for them. Uno's has gluten free pizza but you should get it well done otherwise it is too doughy and not good.

Whenever she gets gluten free pasta no matter how long it says to cook it, she cooks it for 20 minutes, also she likes corn based pasta the best. It has the most realistic texture compared to regular pasta.

Also betty crocker started coming out with gluten free baking mixes like cakes and brownies. We just got her some for her birthday and havnt cooked them yet. I also found this stuff called better batter. i just got her some for her birthday, but it is supposed to be amazing. it is a mix of all the differnet kinds of gluten free flours to create a perfect mix.http://betterbatter.org/

Trader Joes has the most amazing ginger snaps i have ever had in my life and they are gluten free. they also have a list of all their gluten free foods on their website. you can also look locally. there is a bakery that is about 20 min from my house that makes all gluten free things, but my mom had to go looking for it. you never know, there could be one near you.

And last but not least, one of my favorite meals, along with most of my guys friends, that i have been making for years that is cheap and gluten free. salsa chicken.

you take about a poud of chicken breast, or whatever kind of chicken you like. put it in a pan. dump a jar of salsa evenly on top. crush up some corn tortilla chips and crumble them on top. bake at 350 for an hour. for the last 5 minutes sprinkle some shredded cheese on top, if you want, and then enjoy. you could also serve with rice if you want.

I have celiac's, it's fucking balls.A few days ago i was feeling invincible so i ate a few Nacho cheese Doritos (which are not gluten-free), what a nightmare.

Puking in my life is oh so casual. "Hay guys, be right back I'm going to go throw up"I tell people it keeps me skinny just to fuck with them. I just wish i didn't puke everytime i drankbeer though...I never get that waisted

I like a double cheeseburger from mcdonalds, then I usually order a mcchicken too and slide in between the two patties and eat the buns from it and then eat my doublechickenburgr thing. Yummy?
