i just dont how you can have such blind faith in something like that, where your claiming that even though there are countless others just like yours, yours is the ONLY legit one.
 
Like i said before, all other religons focus mainly on rules and things you need to do to get to Heaven. Christianity is the one religon that says you only need to believe to get to Heaven. No crazy prayers, no hundreds of rules, just believe. That is something that sets Christianity apart from the hundreds of other religons.

Good works come after you believe. You cannot just go and keep on sinning after you are saved. If someone truely believes, they will want to serve God by spreading His word and following His commandments etc.
 
i don't like when people try so hard to prove another person wrong that they just spew out bull shit. yes it has happened on both sides.

this is a good example. don't try to lecture joshua on how to get into heaven when it says clearly in the bible on how to get into heaven. the verse is john 3:16 and it goes, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Well i have already explained it and i cannot 100% prove it b/c i wasn't there. Just like how you cannot prove evolution
 
That is not it at all! You can't just believe in God. You need to believe in Jesus: That He was the son of God and that He died on the cross to cover the sins of His people. After you are saved you cannot just go do whatever you want. If someone truely believes, they will want to show their gratitude to God by obeying His laws and serving Him.
 
Yes but you are being skeptical about a theory that is completely logical. It only happenned a few thousand years ago! Meanwhile evolutionists make up all these theorys that supposedly happenned billions of years ago with little to no "evidence" and people accept them as fact w/o questioning them.
 
it was to prove the church is not always right. they were wrong and change there views on almost everything and soon evaluation will be changed too.
 
Heaven is where God's people go when they die. There Christians meet God and spent eternity in happiness. Hell on the otherhand is a place of torment where people are not Christian suffer for eternity. Neither of these places have an end. Time won't matter in either place. Wherever you go, you will be there for eternity.
 
I did go to church all my life too, but this kid josh or what ever his name is is being ridiculous. true story my pastier said that he was visiting a jail giving a sermon some one got the death penalty and 5 min before he died he got to go to heaven because he accepted JC in to his heart so you can do what ever you want you get to go to heaven.
 
really? your theory on polygamy being good for women is logical? even in societies that allowed polygamy it was very rare. It was mostly practiced by a select few that had the resources to provide for many women. The women were status symbols!

Yes but there is a difference. In other false religons, need to follow rules to BE saved. In Christianity you follow God's rules out of gratitude, not b/c you will go to Hell if you don't. A true Christian will want to follow God's rules in gratitude. This does not mean that as soon as you become a Christian you become perfect. We are all sinful and even the most faithful Christians sin. But as you grow in your faith you become better and better at following God's laws and serving Him.

You must not be understanding me correctly or i must be explaining my believes poorly because i believe without a doubt that man is now in Heaven. What i mean is that a true Christian (provided the person does not die right away) will want to serve God. Not because they have to but b/c they want too.
 
but your saying that basically, in order to prove that your saved and grateful, you have to follow his laws, that if i were to believe i was saved etc, but still do whatever i wanted, i wouldnt really be saved? its still laws your following. and the fact that he used laws also makes me think he intended people to follow them. otherwise he would have called them gods suggestions.
 
guy was a killer, about to die, accepted Jesus Christ (JC) and was saved even thought he killed like 5 people that was to josh you don't have to follow any rules to get to go upstairs
 
Did you read my last post? I said before i believe without a doubt that guy is in Heaven. There are many other people who have accepted Christ in the last moments of their lives and made to Heaven. What i was trying to say is that a person who accepts Christ will undergo a massive change. They will want to serve God out of gratidute, not because they have too. Example: Say a terrorist was converted to Christianity. Would this person continue being a terrorist? No of course not.
 
nothing against you but if you ever write a paper or something very formal if you can cite something other then wikipedia you should. wikipedia is peer editable and doesnt have to go through peer evaluations before material is posted. it also shows very little effort on the citors side because eveything you would ever want to know is on wikipedia and very easy to find and just doesn't require much effort to find

To actually be saved no you do not need to follow any rules. Just accept Jesus into your heart. But if you truly believe, a saved person will change. They will want to follow God out of Gratitude not because they have too. This change does not happen instantely, it happens over time as you grow in your faith you will become more and more Christ-like.
 
no I some what agree with you but your just being way to over the top not all people who belief in god are perfect they still kill rape some people to say the want god just so they can get to heaven you keep say every one is 100% perfect and there not you need to understand that.
 
Nobody becomes perfect in this life i realize that even the most faithful Christians make huge mistakes, Even kind David committed adultery and murder! Did he go to heaven? of course. I finally understand the point you are trying to make now.
 
No its not like that....it's difficult to explain to someone who is not a Christian, especially over the internet.
 
Do you think it is a good thing that someone who acts as a perfect christian would, but does not not believe in jesus goes to hell but the aforementioned murderer goes to heaven? being a loyal subject of a god is more important than the way you treat other people?
 
It all boils down to whether or not you accept Christ. It is possible for someone to act like a perfect Christian and not truely believe.
 
what would it take for you to question your faith? I mean without any way for you to lose your faith, what you believe in isn't much more than blissful ignorance.

For all you know, everyone in this thread is the voice of God telling you what you believe in is wrong, that you've missed his message by a long shot, and need to start living a whole new life.

Yet for some reason you won't believe this. You just KNOW that you're right. Here's where i need your explanation, If this were any other belief, it'd be easy for you to understand the flaw in living in accordance with a system such as this. But you've blinded yourself with faith. What drives your faith? What makes it such that you need to believe in the literal word of scripture, no matter what evidence gets put before you.

You've granted no credence to any possibility of your error. You've spent no time attempting to understand what other possibilities there are in the world. You don't even really understand the problems and harm that arises due to the sort of faith that you have.

 
This is spot on. I never said I was right or any other ideas were wrong. You've been bringing up mad good points this whole time and haven't overreacted like I. I hate saying it, but 10/10. He is full of ignorance. His parents have raised him telling him evolution is a load of shit, so he just says what he has been told, he only knows ignorance, he does not understand that looking into something like this will not hurt him. He argues against evolution, saying the theory is wrong, yet he does not understand how the theory works, it really is quite simple, while at the same time it is very advanced. When he preaches against evolution, he needs to understand how it works. If he understood how it works, it would make a lot more sense. That other kid with the rock+rock example blew me away. I could not believe people are that narrow minded. All of Josh's comments about evolution have no credibility of any kind because he doesn't understand how it works, so why did he take all the time to argue when his argument was pointless?
