Origins of biblical scripture

sorry to break it too u but its most likely fake they make those things out of like a couple bones never a full skeleton and then they just add on what fits in there theory
 
i am 15 and i will admit not a scienctist but there are many people older than me that could argue against all you just said i will try my best. I agree with you that animal's make mutations and make slight changes. That happens lots. When this happens an animal just loses a gene. no new information is gained. but to get from a whale to a human, you need to get the information (im not sure what its really called DNA?) to evolve. you cant just get the information to make that kind of a change out of the blue. So what if hands and flippers are a like. There are many other changes a whale would have to make to get to a human besides flippers to hands and the organ thing.
 
I agree with you that animals make small mutations. But to do this an animal loses information, it doesnt gain it. Darwin say these small changes and thought "Hey mabeye everything came from this." But to get from a whale to a human the whale needs new information. This information can not just come out of the blue. Same goes for everything. So what if we have a similar organ or flippers are like hands. There are many other parts to us that would have to have changed. When Darwin made up the theory, scientists did not realize how complex everything was. They didnt have the technology to see just how complex something like a cell really is. There are so many changes necisary to get from point a to b that it is just not possible
 
God dammit. I already went over this. DNA is the blueprint of life. When a mutation occurs, the DNA coding is changed, you don't get new DNA, the old DNA just has different letters. You have to understand how DNA works to make an argument so just shut up right now. You can't tell me I am wrong about evolution if you don't understand how DNA is coded and how mutations change the DNA code. You're making yourself look like quite the idiot.
 
Christianity began after the death and resurrection of Jesus. The term christian isn't used until the New Testament (Acts 11:26). Before Jesus, Jews (Israelites) practiced Judaism which pretty much began with the laws given to Moses.

Now basing one's personal belief in God/Jesus and reasons for becoming a christian around creation/evolution seems to me an absurd thing to do and trying to argue for creation is futile. I believe in creation and I believe in a God far outside my realm of understanding. Does my faith hinge on whether or not it happened in a literal six days or over millions of years of evolution? No, but I believe He had a hand in it.
 
like i said im not a scientist i dont know how it exactly works but i know how it works. Go talk with a Creationist and then you would have a good debate

No you have to know how DNA works to know how evolution works. When letters are changed in the code, it is not lost info or gained info, it is just different info. Stop being so damn stubborn about this. Cells are the same structure in all animals, if not extremely similar. Skin cells in humans are very similar to a tigers. Quit being a dumbass. You are arguing evolution when you don't understand how evolution works. Why do people like you believe evolution is going against God's words? Answer that question.
 
Exactly, it's people who don't want to believe god is not real, arguing against evolution, not proving shit. People are so damn stupid. Darwin never intended for evolution to go against god. They are not proving creationism, just denying evolution, so now where did we come from? No where, no one evolved we just popped up on the Earth one day, god didn't create us because we can't prove that, we're just going against evolution to make god look damn real! That's all that argument you posted was saying to me.
 
Evolution was NEVER intended to go against religion. Find me one time where Darwin compares evolution to Christianity. Exactly, that is all you can refer to, the bible, another book written by people, like said by someone else, it is about as good as a story of Harry Potter in a Quiditch Match.
 
Christianity started with Jesus, not before. Everything before is Judaism. I would know, I'm Catholic. The bible is not one whole book. Its a series of "holy" writings that were written by people that experienced anything to do with Christianity, or the forming of it( so prophets or people hearing God). However, the Church controls what goes into the bible and what is deemed holy. They have refuse to put in writings that contradict each other, such as Judas's Gospel. They also have a ton of writings and shit stored away in a deep underground vault in the Vatican, that not even the pope can get into. So needless to say I do not trust the Church.
However, I do find the apocryphal texts really interesting, as well as the fall of Lucifer and the war in heaven. Biblical texts are really interesting to read.
Sparknotes: Bible is a series of writings whos authors witnessed firsthand miracles, Jesus, or other unearthly things.

And to add to that, Most of the major religions are almost identical with their stories of creation which is also very interestion.

Youre also adding to it. If you dont like it just accept that Christianity (and Judaism) are just mythology. Its no different than Roman, Greek, or Egyptian. Its not all "retarded" or stupid like you said in previous posts. Philosophy stems from religion.

To the creator of this thread the Bible was written over a long period of time by people who were either inspired by God to write it, or actually witnessed it. Then the church collected all these accounts and put them all together in the Bible.

Well if you guys are dead set on evolution how do you guys think it all started? it had to come from something.
 
In my opinion religions (western or otherwise) began as either an experience or an idea(s) someone had or a story (depending on what you believe to be true). Often these stories are passed down over hundreds or thousands of years. They become an important part of your culture and your experience as a person (depending on who you are of course). Historically culture and religion are intertwined and become part of one another so when many people grow up with it, it becomes part of what they see to be true.

Biblical scripture is no different. I happen to believe it's true. Others don't. I have no idea if this helps you or not. Ha ha.
 
Free roaming objects in space all came together and created the Earth, leaving it molten hot in the middle due to the high pressure and then a prokaryote was formed, began to split and soon evolution kicked in.
 
Dude, stop arguing creation/evolution. If educated, well researched men of science can't all agree on the topic, what makes you think you will convince others on NS one way or another?
 
And the bible has never been rewritten, translated, revised, edited, altered, or changed in any way throughout tiime? Well, it's been changed and misinterpreted so many times, for all we know the bible authors could have only meant to say a metaphor to show god has power or whatever with the seven days thing.

Anyway, the point is, if the bible said worms were the form of Jesus, then you'd all worship worms. I think all religions need to look past outdated traditions that may have had relevance at some time, but don't mean anything today (I could list SOOO many examples). Instead, they should focus on the true purpose of themselves (self purpose, care for others, enlightenment, love, etc, etc., not whether scientific evidence contradicts their "holy books". And realistically science will never go against real moral teaching (unless your against stem cell research or whatever, in which case I have a different debate).

now im not taking sides because i do believe in evolution it is very logical and evidence has been shown that is also logical.

however there are some holes in this theory. such as. Has anyone asked themselves how common are these mutations that lead to natural selection? yes very fucking common in life forms with high metabolisms like bacteria and viruses that reproduce like mad but in larger animals that have fewer generations and fewer off spring it is statistically doubtful that all the animals we have on this earth today came from absolutely nothing but atoms floating around in a soup.

and i don't feel the need to do any calculations on these statistics because everyone is claiming they're geniuses

Yes, its one of the minor religions that don't get much attention around here, but I love reading about it.

While you guys are all debating back and forth, you're missing the concept of religion, it's not who is right or wrong, it's having something to believe in, something that gives life a purpose, a mission, a goal. Who cares who is right, to each his own.
