Only FIGHTER JETS

I don't feel like looking back, but I don't think anyone's posted a Saab in here... Not many other planes out there that look as doomtastic as these fuckers. They look like motherfucking decepticons.

First, the Saab 35 Draken. These guys never really saw air combat, I don't think... but they were supersonic to Mach 2, and could turn on a dime. Not the most capable plane ever, but damn did they look cool. The Swedes, Danes, Finns, and Austrians used these up until the 1990s. The Danes were the only ones to put in groundstrike capabilities, which made them really useable all around fighters. They were a lot like the Mirage III's that the Israelis used to punch the Arabs in the face during the 60s and 70s.

The Saab 37 Viggen. This was like the Swedes answer to the Phantom or the Mirage F1. Thing was super ahead of it's time in airframe design and was very well armed. Like a faster Draken with more bombs and ground attack options. They only saw service in sweden because the swedes were pretty strict on who could get one, even though it was a competent and well priced all weather do anything plane. The Indians tried to get them, but the Americans said "fuck that" for some reason. They were the one and only plane to ever get radar lock onto an SR-71 Blackbird, as they would attempt to intercept them as they flew back from over the Soviet Union.

and now, the JAS 39 Gripen. This plane is a smaller, faster, more capable version of the Viggen. They are used by the Hungarians, South Africans, Czech's and of course the Swedes, with at least 10 more countries interested in ordering some, including Brazil who wants to eventually replace their F5's. They are a lot like F18's Eurofighters, and F16's and can do a little of everything.

I've always thought the B-1 Lancer was pure sex.

The F-117 Nighthawk...extremely one-of-a-kind.

Although I wasn't alive at the time, I still mourn the loss of the 1950's Canadian Avro CF-105 Arrow.

Here are some more aggressive pictures.

Panavia Tornado with afterburners aglow. Yes, that's a real picture, cloudless sky and high resolution.

An F-15 Eagle fring what I believe is a Sidewinder heat-seeking missile.

The B-2 Spirit doing what it does best, dropping ~500 lb. Mk 82 unguided bombs into the Pacific Ocean in an exercise. I count 44. JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munitions) is actually a bolt-on system that converts unguided bombs such as the Mk 82 into laser-guided bombs.

From what I hear it's not likely to be canceled, the plan is to scale back production rate to make it easier on the budget. Sounds like there's going to be a shit ton of these (as many as 1700) getting pumped out over the next decade or so. I'm hoping to be fortunate enough to fly one in a few years, not that it makes me qualified to say much about it though haha

Another really fucking cool plane that nobody's really replicated. The Mig-25.

This plane was made for intercepting U-2's and super high flying aircraft. They couldn't quite catch Blackbirds, but they could at least outpace anything else that had legit armaments - It's the fastest combat aircraft ever. They could reach Mach 3.2 (though at expense of engine damage) and had a ceiling that put them nearly in space. In Germany, you can actually take a ride in one of these where they take you over 90,000 feet up - basically in fucking space.

one of the best fighter movies ever just due to the filming.

The plot itself is decent at best, but the air to air filming is absolutely fantastic. I could watch the flight over the alps on a loop and never get bored.

watch it with subtitles instead of dubbed over though...or just learn french.

i am 100% sure that it was in the computer game Tie Fighter, that was a Lucas arts game there for the Tie Defender is a part of the Star Wars Universe

I love that shot at 3:03 when the wing man just pulls off real quick. something about that maneuver that i think just looks awesome. I guess its the precision and the speed of the turn, it just looks like something that would be really fun to do.

the f-15 is a proper plane, it just looks unnatural when the gear are down.

They used to fly over my school all the time. Felt like a little kid in class twisting my neck so i could watch them outside flying over.

Got time to kill? Want to watch some shit about some motherfucking aircrafts? Watch this shiet.

I JUST TRACKED T-38Cs TODAY!!!!! I'm so fucking pumped, only 2 in my class and I managed to get one! If I can keep this up there's a fighter in my future!

While flying or on a simulator? Excuse my ignorance if this is a retarded question. But if a live exercise what were you flying?

I'm in pilot training in the US Air Force. Half way through the top percent go on to T-38s for the fighter/bomber track. I'll be training in a T-38C for the next 6 months and hoping to be good enough for F-16s or A-10s after.

Dude that's fucking sick! I'd kill just to land a position being able to fly supersonic in general...

Good luck man. are only Falcons and Hogs available, or would you be on the track to fly any other aircraft?

I'm on track for any fighter, bomber, or NSA aircraft. I also just realized the "Russian MiGs" in Top Gun are T-38s, haha.

F-22's? or whatever the US is currently flying their top-teir pilots in. Thats really fucking dope, if i didnt black out on roller coasters i would be dedicating so much time to becoming a fighter pilot, actually what i want to do with myself, i may get into copter flying, not as badass though.

Check this article out. It's about how the Serbians shot one down during the conflict we were involved in there and it's an interview with the guy who shot it down. I read that after it was shot down the Chinese intelligence agents flooded the country side paying the local buhku dollars for even scraps of it. Probably to get a sample of its paint. They have since reverse engineered it and have their own version. Although It sucks comparatively. Really interesting plane.

If an F-22 was available when I finished, I could conceivably be up for one. It's not my top choice though, and I have a long way to go before I think too much about my follow on. Also, there are only 186 of those in the world....they aren't available too often for young guys but the last class to graduate got 1 so it does happen.
