not quite, its a 30mm cannon, so thats a little over an inch across. and the length varies depending on what kind of round in being used, plus its rate of fire is either 2100rpm or 4200rpm. either way, i wouldnt like to be on the receiving end.

Hawkeye and Sentry AWACS combined with mid air refueling his probably one of our most awsome air supremacy capabilities. Props for posting that I love those. There was new one at Boeing field I could see it from the air yesterday she I was landing in Seattle.
 
This. Big ass bullets. Not as wide as wine bottles but certainly almost as long. But from what I know when they are engaging softer targets (as aposed to armor) we typically use high explosive, incindiary rounds that fuck shit up when the explode. I think they can run AP rounds against armor which was what it was introduced to combat but not a lot of armor to kill in Afghanistan
 
an AC-130 wouldn't last 5 seconds against a real fighter jet, you can only use them once you have air superiority and even then SAMs can still take them down far easier than they could any fighter jet.
 
It's scheduled to be in service until at least 2028. That's a durable plane! They should make park skis out of Warthog.
 
They were planning on retiring it before the gulf war however it was so effective during desert storm officials decided to keep them. Some people even say that replacing the warthog with F 35's would be a step backwards, crazy claim for a jet that was introduced 40 years ago.
 
Guarantee Canda would have rushed to buy F22s if we ever gave them the privlegded but we barred export to everyone so we could keep the capabilities to ourself and promote sales of the F35 and make mad $ off of people while getting them to help fund our research and development. The F22 is no show plane it has a few quirks to work out but it is arguably the best operation fighter in the world. And as of now it shits on the current F35 which is riddled with problems.
 
Sorry, I can get F22's and F35's mixed up. I agree Canada should continue with the program, we need to stop putting our military on the back burner and give it the attention it deserves.
