Olympic Halfpipe Skiiing (Make it Happen)

Where in the sam fucking hell is FREEZE when you need them? They had news briefs entitled "Here comes the FIS." Their informative, investigative articles actually were!! (I'm refering to the recent article on Halfpipe in the Olympics.) And they weren't necessarily in it for the money (which is probably why they got canned.) I'm not dissing on FREESKIER, I think its a cool mag, but we just need to remember as FREEZE did, that our sport grew as a reaction against FIS. Do you really think we need to go back?
 
FUCK THE OLYMPICS, FUCK FIS, FUCK ALL OF YOU WHO SIGNED. We don't need the oly's in our sport its our sport. we made it and we made our oly's. if you want this sport to last and be true to its core and roots then we need to keep FIS the fuck out oof our sport. Nothing but bad things will happen cause they don't understand the our sport strives on non-conformitty and that drives those old ass fucks crazy.

but it hasn't seemed to have changed to have changed snowboarding. maybe a larger form of standardization of judging would be very very beneficial.

don't just vote because you want skiing to be perceived as cooler than another sport because we go bigger.

It most likley won't happen. FIS is doing what they can but from what I've heard it's too late to get it in the 2010 olympics. I'll sign but seriously don't get your hopes up cause it's probably not gonna happen till 2014
 
hahahahahahahaha i bet JF's Vinnie's etc...sponsors would have cared about them going in the olympics if it were available...just liek they did with the x games.....by your logic none of them would have competed in the x games because they "had" to hit one jump making it not free...there are no guidelines in half pipe...look at snowboarding(actuallly i think there is noe rule and that is there must be one staright air) dude you have no idea...i bet JP Vinnie and all those guys would be right behind getting skiing into the olympics....becasue it makes the sport they helped create grow adn who doesnt wanna help a growing child....hhmmmmm?
 
FIS is really gay though they have no idea how to judge. They don't know how to judge. At least not at a lower level. At an olympic level they probably would have it better. At the last FIS comp I was at they made you call your tricks then penalise you if you did less but would not if you did a better trick. They'd also change the DD to the higher trick if you did it. The problem was half the time you did somthing better than you called like say did a grab or went corked they wouldnt even notice cause they're retarted. And they put ariels and table top competing in together and gave all the arielest the highest scores even though they where doing singles. Back lays where beating cork 7s off a jump 5 times bigger. BS

I signed, but all of you guys are presenting media biased information.

NBC did a pretty shitty job this year with the olympics as a whole. they rarely showed stars of other countries, they would switch back and forth between sports only to gain more exposure of thier sponsors and pound away with commercials over and over and it became really redundant.

They showed only the most dramatic bullshit instead of the triumph the olympics held.

They showed Bode Miller, who is WAY overrated, they didnt say shit about Daron Rahlves... even though hes probably better.

They showed all the Michelle Kwan bullshit like they always do. Instead of focusing on someone who actually has a chance to win: Sasha Cohen(who is hotter by the way)

They rarely showed anything other than Kwan, Bode Miller, Jacobellis fucking up, or The Shawnie Davis vs. Chad Hendrick show.

They focused on that bullshit rather than focusing on the triumphs of Apollo Ono, Joey Cheek, Hannah Teter, Seth Wescot, or any of the other great athletes of other countries.

Other media centers in other countries flat out killed NBC this time around. Canada's was getting such great ratings. China had the best winter olympic ratings ever. Italy of course was killing it, France was doing very well, and even RUSSIA, who is notorious for having pretty poor media as a whole (due to cold war loathing of TV propaganda) had a great turnout.

The US had nothing to hate. They were 2nd in the medals, they won in things they dont normally win at. They didnt win like they did in SLC, of course not, but fuck... are we supposed to win EVERYTHING?! cmon...

Thats the problem with our media. They expect everyone to win, and it brings the viewers opinions down. They shoot themselves in the foot.

If NBC did a better job NOT shooting themselves in the foot (not showing medals ceremonies untill 12? wtf) they would probably do a lot better.

And shit... would you just QUIT IT with the figure skating? its not as popular as it once was... the US and Canada is turning to Extreme shit like halfpipe, and if skiing is introduced, skiing biased nations in Norway would certainly become much more inclined to gain interests.

Fuck all the "core" shit. I mean, did putting snowboarding in the olympics really hurt the sport?

I see no fewer gapers today than I saw back in 2002.

Besides, if you really want to be "core", go out into the backcountry, build up some gnarly hits and kill it out there, away from the crowds.

The FIS would probably suck at judging, sure, but since when do we REALLY CARE who wins? we just want to watch the top skiiers in the world compete on a grand stage and bust out some gnarly ass shit right? who cares if Tanner Hall wins or TJ Shiller or Laurent Favre? Its who wins thats important, its being able to see Olsson bust out that 540 truckdriver or Pete Olenick lay down a sweet sw 720 Tailgrab.

skiing is for fun. I wish people would get over the whole winning bullshit. Just have fun watching and being able to see the competition...
