OKEMO Update Thread

UPDATE: took one run today and went in, here are some observations.....

1. Okemo did a good job making snow and pushing it into big piles, HOWEVER, the jumps have no pop and the table sizes are very small

2. there's some retarded looking hip that nobody is going to enjoy and/or ever use. It is a massive waste of snow and should be used to make a table.

DO not go to okemo until they fix the jumps. DO NOT waste your money, go to another mountain (mount snow)

Ok so i did some more product testing today (product = jumps) and heres a new assessment...

the jumps are close to being good. There are two of them and the second one is bigger and better than the first. The first jump is a launch ramp with minimal pop and is 25- 30 feet long. Both jumps need a much bigger lip, it is hard to get high off the deck which results in minimal hang-time on both jumps. It has become obvious that okemo does not care about the length of their tables, so the least they could do is make poppier jumps so we can get some good hang-time on the small sized tables that they have to offer.

heres a vid of the first jump. http://twitvid.com/997D7

that jump in the vid looks fine except for the length of the table. i might actually go and see what i think cus i have a pass

holyyyyy ballsss.
noreaster is looking soo sick. i bet they'll be setting up more shit tomorrow too but they got ome sick stuff up today.
they've still got the flat down box at the beginning, into the c-box. then they took out the down rail and theres just nothing cept big piles of snow till you get to where the 40 ft up rail was, which is still there cept they added a flat down rail to it so now its a 50ft flat to a 30ft down or so. the rail is sooooooooo long. then they made the 2 jumps a bit bigger, maybe around 30ft or so. then at the bottom where the staircase was last year, is the staircase again but its got both down boxes, then they're putting in the down rail that was at the top into the staircase again, and they added a flat to the bottom of another down box so im pretty sure, looking up from left to right its down box, down rail, down box, down flat box.
looking dope as hell, especially the 80ft flat down and the staircase

Here's some video documentation of said "huge piles of snow." Just so happened me and my bro took one run today and thougght upper noreaster was so insane and gnarly that we needed to film it..

other info...

They took out the down rail..the best rail they've ever built.

The jumps belong on hot dog hill

They're putting in a cement ledge at the bottom (great for your equipment!)

The jumps have no pop and resemble jumps in a long distance jumping competition

if you didn't notice, they moved the sick down rail down near the staircase like they are going to put in on the staircase.
and the snow piles aren't really huge, or big like i said above but they are deep. theres a lot of snow up there.

new additions to the park today!!!!!!!heres what they have....

JUST KIDDING!!!!!!! they dont have anything new up

Worst okemo park in at least 5 years.

rode that ish two days ago, the enormous flat-down is suuuuper good, jumps aren't bad and the urban down bar is pretty nice too. Everything else is sub par. One of the jumps is alright.

does anyone know about the trail on upper mtn road. at the first scenic area go right off and down it through the hole in the woods. it takes u down by like jackson gore its sick on pow days

wow, i've been skiing okemo for just over 10yrs now and i've never even heard/seen this. good find im gonna check it out next time i get a chance. +k for sharin

everything is the same...oh wait, they flatened the landings on the jumps so now it really feels good to land....

went to stratton today and the jumps are big and really nice and steep landings - go there.

went to stratton again today and i still highly recommend going there if you enjoy hitting big jumps with long steep landings and nice poppy floaty take-offs...unless you enjoy a 3-line of a 5 footer to a 7 footer to a 10 footer lol.

skiied it today...so small lol...i can easily back to back to back 5 the three 5'(if that) jump line...80 foot flat down is only sick feature

went there for the first time this weekend....one of the worst mtns iv ever been to hated the layout, lifts sucked, park was ok nothing special

idk why im an asshole..im just trying to help my fellow east coast park enthusiasts with finding the best terrain parks. I have an okemo season pass, and many okemo season passes are also valid at stratton, so my post was relevant to any okemo season pass holder. I was comparing my experiences at okemo to my stratton experiences and thought it would be nice to let people know which mountain is better

Maybe you think i am an asshole for shitting on okemo's parks continuously...to that i have to say this..the truth hurts.

okemo's parks are a joke...i wont be posting anymore updates as im back at school and wont be near okemo to ski till next year most likely.

anyone know what the rain damage was? im headin up there this weekend hopin to see the same things i saw last weekend but sadly i don't think thats going to happen.

my friend lives in town..he says its not really that the snow was all melted but more that everythings icy and hard..

timberline had a comp. on it today so i dont know whats on it but heres an update of Nor Easter (proceeding order):

flat-down box, C-box, down-flat-down rail, three teeny tiny jumps, a flat-down rail & a down box, a raised/suspended rainbow rail (its like the middle of a rainbow not a full one). thats the first half.

Second half; 80 ft flat to flat down rail, then two pretty decent jumps, a rainbow box and an urban flat-down handrail, a flat box, then the stair case which had (labeling from left to right) a down-flat box, a down box, down handrail, and another down box, finally there was the bus.

its pretty good the two jumps on the bottom would be really nice if they had some more pop to them..but there nice 45ish and 50fters

yea overall their parks improving, heres whats up with timberline;

the got two small high and low jumps then the flat up flat rail next to a flat box, then a down rail and a down box

nor easters is ok heres wat its got: flat to down box, down flat down rail, c box, small 3 jumo line, some other boxes and rails, then like a 50 footer with a smaller one on the side and a 30 footer next, then the stairs and amp bus

wait so did they change lower noreaster since the rain? sounds like there a different jump or something

they've changed a good amount since this thread has been updated. they have pictures of all their new features on facebook, but here are some quick highlights:

on noreaster they put in the choice rail where it was last year and threw up another urban style down rail right before the choice rail.

then they still have the small 3 series of jumps

after the 3 series they added a choice between a flat box that is about 5ft off the ground or a small 5ft step down with a roller right before it.

next is a choice between a down box or a flat down rail

then they put in the kinked c rail (flat right right i guess)

tall rainbow rail

and then everything else is the same on noreaster. they also put a jump in the dew zone about the same size as the one in there last year

right before the jump in the dew zone is this metal log type jib thats pretty sweet just kinda laying on the snow with i jump onto it.

then after the jump is the hitching post then gasoline tank

after that is a flat rail

then they have this setup of two tires and a corrogated pipe. the pipe is set perpendicular to the slope and on both sides they put a tire.
