I think there was not one bad decision by that ref, he didnt give a load of fouls that players dived for, and italy wasnt the only team that took dives.
 
yes france should have gotten more PK's too. I think i recall two different fouls that were even more blatant than Zidanes foul that he got a PK and guess what, he didnt blow his whistle. yea that makes sense, give a pk for one foul in the box, but those others that were even worse fouls just let them go. Righhtt......
 
^well that just tells you how shitty of a ref he is. I'm a soccer referee and I know how the fuck the game should be played. If he's not seeing fouls/shit-talking right near the fucking play than he fucking sucks at refing.

That ref had a good game, your just pissed that france lost. Its natural to blame the ref whenever you lose, but come on, that ref was one of the fairest refs ive ever seen. Quit your whining and "im a soccer ref i know how the fuck a game should be played" come on, your not even calling the game by its right name, ITS FOOTBALL! If you cant even call it by its real name i doubt that you do.

Of course I'm pissed that france lost. The referee lost the game for them. One fucking idiot ref ruins the whole tournament and gives the win to undeserving team. You are obviously biased too.
 
um, your the one sticking up for the ref. If the play is on one side of the field, why the fuck would u be on the other side of the field? Explain that to me.
 
Actually i was completley unbiased in that game. I just thought Italy deserved to win, its different from me wanting them to win. I support England, and if anything i should still be bitter towards that ref because he sent rooney off. But that ref did nothing wrong in that match at all. You cant say that that ref lost the game for france, he gave them a pen. It was zidane, or even trezeguet who lost it for france, not the ref.

Yea a blatant foul that would stop someone from scoring should not be a PK. Riggghhttt....(IF zidane did dive which I dont think he did, at least he doesnt dive like a fucking sissy like the italians.)
 
dude WTF? I saw the play, the Italian dudes legs stepped out right in fucking front of him and stopped him from making a run through. You think he should just powerhouse his way through everyone knocking them down? You ever tried to run through people at the goal at a fast speed? You lose your balance pretty easy and it doesnt take much to trip someone up if they are blazing towards the goal.

Why the fuck would Zidane dive in the first place? He can basically school Italians whole team. Italians only defense is to throw their legs in front of someone and pray they dont get called.
 
Say Zidane did get fouled in the box. You need to get over it, plenty of fouls are missed by refs, and you have to get over it, theres nothing you can do about it. Your pissed off, but whats that gonna do? You gonna ring them up and ask them to change the score? The refs decision is final, and as a ref yourself you should know that, thats a big part of football. It sucks sometimes but you wouldnt be complaining if it was italy who deserved a pen and didnt get it. Just calm yourself down man.

There has been some games with horribly reffing in them...this one was not that bad. Both teams were responsibly for diving left and right(really took a lot out of the game) and the ref acted responsibly and didnt let the whole game turn into a shit show a la portugal-holland. For that it was the players fault( a select few of them anyways). As for the penalty kicks, lets get this straight. First penalty call that resulted for a France goal was a clear dive. No way should that have been a pk in the first place. Then later in the match I think it was Zambro who took out a french player(Henry maybe?). That should have been a pk but the ref didnt call it; possibly because he knew he made a mistake for the first one. What's the other one you're talking about? (please explain it clearly to me, do not just call be a dumbfuck ass-douchebag cuz I still wont know what the hell you're talking about).

But yeah, I thought the ref was at the very least fair for both sides
 
dude. I've just seen to many games get ruined because of a biased ref. At this level, its just rediculous to miss blatant fouls. If there had been a different ref, I guarantee we would have seen a much different outcome. Just because I'm a ref, doesnt mean I fucking agree with any other motherfucking ref in the least. Every ref sees the game differently and this one obviously just couldnt see shit.
 
I really don't think the reffing was that bad. It sucks for zidane to go out on this note, but even though i wanted france i can accept the outcome because the calls were even for the most part. Italy even had a goal called back, how can you say refs were biased against france? Come on, Italy beat France, it happens. What really sucks is france subbed henry for trezeguet, and i dont think henry would have missed. But, you know, PKs arent really the best way to decide a world champion anywyas

And then to completly ignore Henry getting taken out in the box when he definately WOULD have scored if he had not gotten fucking taken out. Your arguement makes no sense.
 
Whatever, I guess this comes back to the argument that Fifa should have instant replays. The main argument agaisnt it is that it would slow the game down, I can imagine it becoming as long as a standard NFL game. But in big games like the world cup, I would be in favour for it I think. Refs definetely cant see everything and it would get rid of a lot of the controversy surrounding bad calls.
 
Refing is really not that hard if your just near the motherfucking play of ball. This guy seemed to be halfway across the field from wherever the ball was.

It's just funny how they show Zidane headbutting but not the motherfucking pinching his nipple like a little bitch. At this point of the game, I think Zidane was just fucking fed up with the refing/bitching by italy/diving by italy, and this motherfucker just took it over the top and got wtfpwned.

Zidane is still better than anyone who played in the world cup. I think he was just fucking fed up with the refing and just didnt give a fuck anymore.

Zidane used to be my favorite player in the tournament, but now, fuck him. He could have pushed him or something before he goes and does something as dangerous and silly as headbutting someone in the chest. Zidane deserves a huge fine for blatant violence.

 
I concur that Zindane should be punished but i can only imagine how obnoxious it is to play against Italy.

The majority of the team so wraped up in their pre-madona 'how do i look' bullshit. But i guess the apple doesnt fall far from the tree, most of the country is. I recognise France carries the same shameful cultural egoism as the Italians, but Parisian snobery manages an air of sophistication that only Roman history can compare to.

Italy is a wonderful place...but the people during my visits have been socially raw and uncontroled, consumed by accomplishments made a thousand years ago. I just see this as another drop in the 'Viva Italia, we're so fuckin great, no one else compares' bucket, and i just hate to see irrational egoes fueled.

Especially when they were awful for most of the tourny. Whatever, im done on this topic, I have to let it go.

Yea, I am pretty bummed that France lost. Especially since I was watching with a bunch of Italians who all decided that it would be fun to shove it in my face. And the parades around town, ugh. And such a shameful action from Zidane is just rubbing salt in the wound. But if the English can stand behind Rooney still, then I can still support Zidane. Too bad he didn't get lucky like Figo when Figo headbutted the Dutch player in the round of 16.

What can I say. Im just shocked at how politics are coming into the game these days. I love soccer. I dont like to see cheaters win. Call me a raving lunatic all you want. I dont care. France got robbed.
 
i'm just a little curious as to how france got robbed. I do agree that the italians didnt play as well as the french, but the ref did a pretty good job. In fact, france got the favorable call for their pk while italy got an unfavorable offsides call when toni scored on that free kick. Its just the way things go sometimes, france outplayed italy, but italy still won. get over it.
 
Italy was fucking offsides. There is no question. There was one guy who was DEFINATELY past the defense who was going after the ball. That=offsides call. That was about the best call i saw the entire game.

France should have had at least 1 more PK for Henry being fouled in the box. Sorry but when you blatantly foul someone in the box cause they are probably going to score = Penalty Kick. The referee just fucked France over and robbed the win from them.

You can say all you want. Your not going to change my mind. And I know I wont change you guys who jumped on the Italy bandwagon. I'm just voicing my opinion on the whole game. This is what the forums is about. This is like the only place I can discuss the game at the moment and how frustrated I was to see the Ref not calling fouls against Italy and as soon as one Italian guy would touch the ground it would be a foul.
 
Yes. I definitely agree.

When both the fouls in the box on both Henry and Zidane weren't called, I was off the wall. I mean blatant and deliberate fouls should definitely be called. Especially if it is repeatedly happening. That ref failed to make some important calls, which could have turned the tide of the game.
 
Okay, that call was very close, the first penalty was bullshit. Also, just so you know, henry was never fouled in the box, nor zidane. It was a different french player, i cant remember his name, but it starts with an m. You are just so worked up to hate on italy you cant give the team some of the respect they deserve. Italy played well enough to win the world cup, but only barely. You also seem to forget that italy hit the crossbar too, and buffon made some really nice saves. All you seem to have is a problem with the ref, but for the most part, the ref did and excellent job.
 
i'm a France supporter, and regardless of who i support, penalty kicks is a shitty way to determine it, i say bring in golden goal. that shows talent, and requires teams to work for goals.

As for Zidane, he still was an amazing player, and supposedly the Italian made a racist comment to him, and if this is true i believe the Italian should be severely punished, the fuckin slogan was "no place for racism" or something. I love Zidane...he was, and will remain my favorite.

FIFA ENACTING PENALTIES FOR RACISM AT WORLD CUP

Teams at the World Cup will be subject to FIFA's new anti-racism rules, which include a possible three-point penalty in the standings for misbehavior by fans. FIFA's new rules took effect April 4 and will govern domestic competitions starting next season.

"The regulations will also be applied for this World Cup," FIFA president Sepp Blatter told Sky TV in an interview aired Tuesday. "At the first sign (of racism) there will be a deduction of three points, then we are finished with the problems of discrimination."

The measures for domestic leagues include a deduction of three points for a first offense, six for a second and relegation for a third. Fines can also be given to fans or officials for "any act or expression of a discriminatory and/ or contemptuous nature.

Blatter said the FIFA Congress will discuss the matter when it meets before the World Cup opener in Munich, Germany, on June 9. "We go now to the Congress in 45-50 days and then it will be by decision of the Congress to give FIFA the authority to intervene in case of non-application," he said.

Is the point deduction only for the group stage?

But if Materazzi did make a racist comment, then I think that he should be severely punished. Zidane is a great player with a history of retaliation, but I hope his reputation isn't tarnished.

He will always be known for the headbutt, like Maradona is known for the "Hand of God"
 
wow, theoretically if it was racist/they deduct points, could france win? that would be AMAZING! i don't think zidane's reputation will be tarnished...he was still an amazing player
