Official The Walking Dead Season 4 Thread

so, second half of season 4. They got separated, Rick killed a guy, Carl ate a jar of pudding, Daryl and Beth got drunk, Tyreese met Carol and the two sisters were killed, Glenn met GI Joe and the lying redneck scientist, they found Maggie, Beth was kidnapped, Daryl met the claimers, Rick killed the Claimers, then everyone found Terminus. This took 8 45minute episodes. I am honestly a little disappointed, was expecting more from the season finale...

This show fucking sucks. There is just no way around it, it's a cash cow and they are putting in as little effort as humanely possible into the writing/direction

I can't wait to hear the defenders of the show come out and try and save the season finale...pure shit

My only hope for the show is that everyone who hates it stops fucking watching so we dont have to hear you complain every week.

Looking forward to season 5.

don't curr turrible show

A finale that was disliked by the majority that caps off a completely pointless and dull season. Name one other season finale where the entire episode just goes back in time and shows us redundant shit that happened in the past. The prison flashbacks were pointless, michonne telling carl about her zombie buddies was just beating the viewers heads with info they've already well established

Ricktatorship zombie biting the guy and then gutting the dumb hick southerner was badass. But nothing original, just a verbatim complete copy of the comic books so you can't give the writers any credit there..

fucking terminus man, good on rick for spotting all that shit. i didnt realize shit until i pieced it together like 10 mins after.

STOP FUCKING WATCHING IT THEN. All of you haters, stop watching. The only season that sucked was season 2. It was mostly bad. Everything else was just good storytelling. You sound like a 50 year old mom that wants to watch a dumbass show like Scandal where incredible, ludicrous shit happens every five minutes. There are plenty of shows out there that cater to speed plotting. If a WD executive read your comments they'd be laughing their asses off because their writers are doing their job. You're so frustrated by the decisions yet you keep coming back because you're invested in the characters.

If a TV show did everything the fans wanted, there'd be like 5 episodes a season and only a few seasons because the characters would make all the right choices and there would be no story. You just don't know what you're talking about. Don't care if you claim your trolling either to save face.

I'm a fan of walking dead from the first season - they gave breath to a stale genre and it really kicked ass. There was noting about the first season that was 'speed plotting' it was just real good, interesting writing. Those writers are no longer with the show and it very easy to see the difference, rewatch some season one episodes and you'll understand

I'm comparing walking dead to shows like True Detective, breaking bad, sopranos etc.. because it really could have been that great of a show. Instead it followed the path of dexter, a great idea with superb writing and direction in the beginning of the series that got contet or lazy and chased ratings only to see the quality of the show fall.

I keep watching because it has glimpses of interesting storytelling, unfortunately they are drowned out by low quality filler. Plus if you dvr the show it can't be more than 35 mins..not a huge time commitment on a sunday night

Exactly. And that's what is so disappointing about the shows, I feel it's not living up to it's potential.

You can still be a fan of something and dislike almost everything about. How do you think NY Jets fans do it year in and year out? They know the product is going to suck every sunday and they still suffer through the pain of being a fan...I guess I'm just a NY Jet fan of TV

Alright you do make a fair and good points. The whole Darabont thing was botched, including season 2. That tends to happens when the budget just isn't there. But I think people should still note that the show is pretty good for what it has to deal with. AMC is still a network with smaller resources when compared to HBO who has a parent company in Time Warner. I guess its frustrating knowing what it could become if there was more backing behind it. Which there should be by now. If they stay in Terminus too long I'd have to start leaning towards your viewpoint because the enclosed set locations just aren't as exciting as the road/travel sequences.

The thing people complain about the most is the pace on this show. Yet it's been paced like this since season 2. I'll admit I almost quit that season. So people have had 3 seasons to decide if they like it or not, but still complain about it. The reason this show is so popular and has outlasted other zombie media is because of how it deals with characters living in a world with zombies. Every other creation is just a bunch of throwaway 2D characters who are simply vehicles for the viewer to experience zombie death and mayhem. Walking Dead still delivers this element, while delivering the characters and humanity. This aspect wouldn't really be possible if the pace of the show were quicker.

Like that payoff with Carol this season. Or Rick. These things wouldn't have impact or gravitas without building them up and then tearing them down. While it is a fine line to walk between aggravating viewers and having it be really satisfying and cathartic, I think they have generally worked out the balance of this type of narrative as opposed to season 2 where it didn't work at all. In order for the danger and death to mean something the characters have to have something to lose and it takes time to develop that. It's just one of those things where the devices Walking Dead uses makes it massively popular, but those same devices are going to alienate people.

And I don't understand people's problems with the acting, except for Carl and Beth. Like how can you not like Andrew Lincolns acting? I never notice the accent or anything. Not sure why he gets shit on. Reedus is amazing. Lauren Cohan is great. The ensemble is awesome. People on here act like film snobs for a show like this. Watch some really low budget indie films or some daytime soaps and then there will be bad acting to talk about.

I honestly loved the season finale. The last line was cheesy, and the dialogue exchange there could have been reworked. But that didn't ruin how I felt about the episode as a whole.

I agree about the character building, and i've enjoyed season 4, but I still think the last episode sucked. It had so much potential, but they wasted a bunch of time on stupid flashbacks. And how they were lead outside by the shooters on the rooftops towards the end was just too obvious.

And i'm a little pissed I still know nothing about Terminus.

Btw, does anyone remember if Carol and Eugene was in the container at the end? I don't remember seeing them, but I may have just missed them completely.

Eugene was, just in the back kinda in shadows. Carol, Tyreese and Judith haven't gotten to terminus yet, I'm thinking they might have something to do with saving them. Perhaps the people who took Beth were really good people, and they will come across Carol and Tyreese, then tell them the truth about Terminus.

I think you mean Tyreese. Eugene is the mullet guy with Abraham and I'm 99% sure he was in there because the rest of them were too.

As for Tyreese and Carol, I dont know. I'm guessing not, because it left off with them at the cabin after killing Lizzie, and you would think they would at least show the in between for them getting to terminus. So probably not

I think we know they are cannibals. You saw the bone yard as they were running away from the shooters. Carl took a look at it and when they were getting put into the train car it seemed like he wanted to ask about it.

Did anyone else notice that every turn they took had the letter "A" painted on it? Also the car they got into had the letter "A" painted on it. Anyone think this means they could have other cars with other people?

And what the fuck was that candle room??

Most definitely. But I think the main point of the "A" thing was to demonstrate how organized and planned out the whole thing was. Just furthering the whole snaring an animal thing Rick was showing Carl. So it showed they have a system and everything in place. Makes them that much more dangerous.

And candles...always creepy cult. That leader guy, Gareth?, just screamed cult to me haha.

The letter 'A' is all throughout the Terminus path that they force rick & gang to follow into the train cart. If you go back and watch the scene you'll hear the main guy say something like 'send them to A' or 'keep them in A'...I can't remember his exact words. Throughout that whole scene the letter 'A' is at pretty much every door they go through. Obviously the Terminus folks have done this a few times before.

There definitely has to be other people in cars somewhere. You heard a group of people yell 'help' when Rick and gang thought they were running away, theres obviously gotta be a route 'B' and 'C' somwhere in Terminus

Candle room looks like it was paying homage to people that died when maybe they trusted people or a group they took in? I'm not sure but the creepy writing on the wall that says us first always, never again or something like that alludes to the fact that they lost a lot of people in some method. Maybe there was a lack of food and those people had to give their lives to save the group, which led the Terminus folk down the road to cannibalism full time

Would have been great if Terminus wasn't the last part of a season finale leaving the viewers with zero more info than what people inferred after watching the penultimate episode...same shit as the prison.

Actually meant Eugene, didn't notice him in there but i as mentioned he was probably just in the shadows. Forgot about Carol and Tyreese not arriving at Terminus yet.

Maybe the candle room was to remember people they lost once before. Could be that Terminus used to be a haven, then a group turned on them and tried to overthrow them. So they have a memorial to remember that and not let it happen again.

Maybe it was the Govna.

They can't kill Darryl. I think that would do more bad than good for overall series. Yes it would give them huge shock value and people would be talking about it for a while, but I think it would ultimately have a negative effect on the show since he is so intertwined with the group. Unless it was maybe a sacrificial death? Him giving his life to save the group or something...although I see that ending for rick more than darryl

That's an interesting theory about the gov. Although they kind of followed hte comic books in respect to his character so I think it would be a little far fetched to say he at one point did tremendous damage to Terminus. I do agree with the candle room memorial aspect tho

I thibk theyre gonna kill off Maggie. She burned the picture, so that to me was a bit of forshadowing.

I also thing tyreese is gonna go Hammer Time and help save them. How do you guys think Rick gets to his gun stash in the woods?

If it is comic related no. I think they are staying pretty true to the comics so far, so it probably will happen that way. If it is a speculation, go for it.

And by so far I mean in the last episode with rick biting Joe and some of Terminus. At least that is what people have told me.

its not comic related. Rewatch the scene where he buries it though. Focus on the background. and if youre really curious, check imdb after

FINE. Could be a big spoiler though. Terminus is relatively close to where they've been the whole time. When Rick buries the guns theres a shadow moving around in the background. Could possibly be Carl or Michonne or somebody else or a mistake. The next shot is looking down from the hill on the three right before going in to terminus, like its from someones POV.

Also, imdb says that Morgan (Clear and first season) was in the last episode.

So my guess is that they had a plan set up and worst case scenario Morgan is going to come in with guns and supplies and they'll have a big fight from the inside.

That's a very interesting theory - although I'd pretty pretty pissed they just completely dismissed Morgan by showing him bein all crazy in that one episode alluding to him being pretty much a lost cause.

While I would love to see morgan back in the series, but I feel like his grand entrace as savior of terminus would raise more questions than it answers. Why didn't he approach earlier? How did Darryl not know they were being tracked? Why didn't he save them when they could have been killed by Darryl's rag tag butt rapers?

I was wondering about that scene. They dont do those POV style shot if someones not looking in. I hope they bring Morgan back. I was pissed he returned and then disappeared quickly when he did.

If that were the case then Rick would have just played it cool at the BBQ scene and feigned ignorance until they had a chance to escape back outside. Makes no sense for him to have such an elaborate plan and then pull a gun out and show his cards. I mean the whole Morgan theory could still happen, but definitely not a plan.
