Official Tahoe Thread

The snow is kinda weird. Some areas are chalky and awesome, others are scratchy and hard to get an edge. The higher up you go, the better it gets though, for sure. Granite Chief is actually freaking sick. Some scratchy snow, but for the most part, pretty solid, with good coverage.

I skied just about everything I could today at Alpine, and holy BALLS that shit is FUN.

It might not be the freshest snow, or the fastest, but it's perfect April/May-corn right now, with solid coverage (some sticks and rocks sticking out here or there, but they give you options to create with them). So many little drops into soft snow. Really makes skiing the mountain totally different than usual and a little exciting. I don't think I've ever had as much fun on a non-pow day to tell you guys the honest-to-goddamn-god truth. Fuck the haters, Tahoe is sick as fuck right now.

true that, tahoe is pretty damn fun right nowskied n* all day sat sun and there are some pretty fun places to ski despite the low amount of snow...

definitely hit the bc!

For everyone in Tahoe. Porters in truckee is unfortunety going out of business. They are offering 58.125%off all gear tonight. Free Beer pizza with a $5 donation to high fives foundation at the door. you can also hang out with local pro brahs like JT Holmes and Darren Rahlves

Crazy that Porters is going out... they had a lock on the Tahoe area 5 or so years ago, but overran their credit like crazy from what I understand...

My first pair of new skis came out of their Tahoe City shop... which is now a fucking Any Mountain..

full day of rain in the Bay Area, any word on what the expected forecast is for Tahoe? thinking of making a trip up this weekend

this!! thinking about heading down tomorrow. looks like it's snowing there now. currently raining at my house in the valley, think the snow line is around 7k right now? I hope?

Just a first hand report: I just drove up from the Bay. It started snowing HARD just before Kingvale all the way to the Summit but the second I got down into Donner/Truckee/Glenshire it was raining again. Roads are suuuuper icy where it's snowing since it's right on the freezing/rain cusp temp wise.

Side note. I was fucking pissed. The road was compleltely empty except for myself and a Semi. I was trying to navigate my subi through the iciest part of the drive past Kingvale and some jackass Semi driver stopped to a full halt literally in the middle of the road and wouldn't budge. I couldn't go right or left of him. I had to drive off over into the shoulder to get around him.

Nick, shut up...

Wait until the Escalades and Navagators think they can manage a real Tahoe dump, and all of the Big Rigs end up jackknifed, and you get stuck for 6 hours at Nyack. That shit's fucking tough haha.

I'm looking to drive from the Bay Area to go skiing on saturday.. I have a squaw and alpine pass but i'm really looking to try our Boreal, let me know if anyone wants to join.

sooo.......snow on the way? I've barely heard any stoke about this storm (storm system by the looks of it) that's supposed to hit tonight. It's super warm out right now at my house in the valley. hopefully the temp drops quick

it could be nice on the higher mountains but i heard the snow level is like 7000ft or somethin, so northstar will get rained on kirkwood might have a chance. probably still wont be breaking out my powder skis needless to say, but i hope i am wrong
