Official NFL 2011-2012 Thread

my bad it's the internet I didn't really take time to make the argument smooth or clearer. I was just pissed off because the motherfucker I'm playing this week has christian ponder and demaryius thomas

I'm not gonna start this again so here is all i'm going to say.

No McFadden, Taiwan Jones, Jacoby Ford, Denarius Moore, Jarvis Moss, Ricky Brown, Chimdi Chekwa, or Matt Shaughnessy. Satele has been battling injuries for the last three weeks. Chris Johnson's first game back was today. Van Dyke has been battling injuries. McClain and Seymour had a bad ankle. Seymour got ejected for some bullshit call. And to top it all off Hue Jackson decides that the best rushing team in the league should no longer run the ball and throw it all day long

6 interceptions in the first two games don't count. He only knew half the playbook and was a week and a half removed from sitting on a couch

The last 2 Bears losses dont count because they didnt have their starting QB, oh wait they do.... Terrible logic is terrible.

Fine you want me to rephrase that? Since the first two games he has thrown 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions i think so there. You happy?

I forgot about that. Notice my last post. Since the Denver game he has thrown 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions

Last time I checked, it took a little more time than what Palmer was given to successfully return from cleaning up doritos crumbs off your shirt while couching it up for half the weekend, to being an efficient NFL QB...

Palmer played fantastically since the Denver game, and will continue to play well. The game in Miami was poorly coached, had a poor gameplan, the defense was shit all day, and the Raiders have more key injuries than any other team in the league, and the fact that they have a winning record despite what's happened this season is pretty legit.

You can "Jokeland" all you want... they're still the most talented team in the division, and are a serious playoff threat when healthy...

And, I'll take solace in this fact - The Raiders have always sucked while playing in Florida - against any team from Florida...

yea he's amazing thats why he's ranked in the bottom 1/3 of NFL quarterbacks. and a feared playoff contender, you gotta admit thats a huge stretch when the team you're talking about hasn't beaten ANYONE of notariaty and gets smoked by the chiefs and dolphins while barely edging out teams like the chargers, vikings and the bears in their first week with a no name quarterback, the whole league is scared of jokeland

i have to give you that.

and among other top teams i would say that the texans have had their fair share. andre johnson is when healthy the best receiver in the league, mario williams worked surprisingly well in the 3-4 and while they dont rely as much on schaub as they did a few years ago, its still a tough loss. leinart not so much though. when i think of the texans, three of the four players that come to my mind first are out.

same with the chiefs. i know a lot of players on them since i dont have any hard feelings towards them, even as a chargers fan and playing for the austrian raiders. but charles, berry, moeaki and cassel are probably 4 of their top seven players, so i would say that they beat out the raiders.

really, the raiders had campbell and mcfadden which are important. but since bush picked up the slack so well and they spent an extraordinary amount of picks on palmer, i dont think you can say that they are hard struck.

we normally only talk about skill position injuries, but a lot of teams have oline, dline and LB injuries and this can kill a team fast although noone talks about it.

Are you kidding me? A team that is built on the run game that is missing probably the best running back in the league and Taiwan Jones and that's not a key injury? Also the two biggest deep threats in the division in Jacoby Ford and Denarius Moore are not key? Starting defensive end who was second in sacks for the Raiders not key? Seymour and McClain having bad ankles is not key? You're so out of touch it's ridiculous.

Here's what you're missing: With McFadden out we still had the edge threat with Taiwan Jones' speed and the deep threat with Ford and Moore. Now that all three are out teams stack the middle against Bush and he can't do anything. Also, those 20, 30 yard runs that Bush has would be touchdowns by McFadden because Bush can't outrun defenders once he breaks the first line and gets into the secondary.

bush played quite well. taiwan jones has to be replacable. and mcfadden is not the best RB in the league. he just plays on a good run blocking team. i honestly think that RBs are overrated as far as rushing goes (ball control, receiving and protection are valuable things though). imo, there are only a few exceptional rushers out there. the other are (at the nfl-level) really exchangeable. this opinion is also supported by the lack of high draft picks spent on RBs in the last couple years.

for example mathews. he is a great RB in my opinion with exceptional balance. but he has minor issus in protection and receiving and bigger issues in protecting the ball. i didnt like that aj gave up so much for him. you could have gotten blount for example in the 7th round. foster was undrafted. the best RB on the chargers now, tolbert, was undrafted. gore went 65th overall, charles in the 3rd round, lesean mccoy went 53rd overall.

to me that shows that they are (again, with few exceptions) exchangeable. mcfadden could have been in that tier after a healthy season, but he is not there yet.

and mccoy is the best RB in the league right now. hands down. he carries the eagles alone and they dont even try to run the ball. he is awesome.

didnt know the DE thing about the raiders. and if seymour and mcclain play they should be ready.

seriously, as a SD fan would like to say that for example gates is just having that bad foot and its not working, but my god, they play him and if he is still better than a healthy 2nd stringer, so be it. if they play, there are no excuses.

Oh come on. McFadden was the league leader. Even after he got hurt in the Chiefs game where he rushed for 2 yards he was still leading the NFL. I've never seen somebody with the speed and moves that McFadden has with the power that he has. His stiff arms are unbelievable. Jones is not replaceable because of his speed. He is the fastest on the Raiders. You actually proved my point with McCoy. He is doing so well because you can't stack the box. The deep threats of Jackson and Maclin force the defense to play a bit softer on the run giving McCoy more space. Notice how Bush's numbers have dropped since Ford and Moore went down.

and i have now watched 4 games of the packers this season (1st vikings, chargers, giants, panthers) and would like to predict that they WONT repeat. if i am wrong, so be it. but now predicting that they repeat would be very uncreative.

so for future reference:

1) PLAYOFF SUCCESS --> RUN AND STOP THE RUN

as we all know when january comes around, you need to run and stop the run. especially in GB. remember last year? they were 5th or 6th seed, meaning no home games. the PHI game (outdoor, grass) was close as hell and should have been a loss. the falcons game (dome, fieldturf) was a blowout due to the fast track and the bears game was over when cutler went down.

they are not a very good run stopping team imo and have issues when they dont have the lead. and they dont run it as well as last year, which was a big reason for their success, but is often overlooked.

2) RODGERS, YOURE ADOPTED

rodgers is overrated. yes i said it. please read on before you kill me. he is an exceptional OVERALL QB, probably the best OVERALL QB right now. but he is not a brees/brady type passer. and certainly not decision maker.

against the chargers and giants, they would have lost if it wasnt for 3-4 third down conversions with his FEET where a defender missed the sack by 5 inches. i know, its part of his game and he does a good job of utilizing his feet. but on a lot of downs, he stands in the pocket and holds the ball too long. you know what the knack on rodgers was a few years back? yep, he held the ball too long and he still does it. a lot of times he gets sacked and on a lot of other occasions, he takes off running. in fact, he looks lost on some downs if his first read is taken away (he was sacked more often than gabbert, newton, rivers, sanchez, romo and stafford for example) . he might even have problems staying healthy if they dont change their pass-run ratio. brady has a whole different control over his offense and the pocket. best example where you see that: rodgers is not throwing the ball away. remember peyton manning? he threw the ball away on every broken play. rodgers either runs or gets sacked. i just feel like thats an awareness issue and will hurt them.

rodgers has a top 3 receiving corps. and yes i am a chargers fan and would like to say otherwise. nelson is just silly good right now while jennings, driver and finley all are pro bowl caliber players. proven by matt flynn looking great when he played last year instead of rodgers.

to rodgers credit though: he does not throw a lot of picks. thats good. but cassel and freeman did that too last year. and just to repeat myself: he is the best overall QB right now and apparently a good leader.

3) DEFENSE

their defense is not very good. matthews plays better than his stats indicate though. woodson is an average corner. yes i said that. he just gets away with a lot of calls. he has a lot of fumbles and ints, but he also gets picked on a lot. noone throws to asomugha or revis, but people are NOT afraid to throw to woodson. seriously, i am not even joking, watch a game and you will see.

they are second to last in yds allowed. we all know that the pats are last. while that is sort of useless stat, it still shows in which neighborhood they play. they lead the leauge in takeaways, yes, but the pats have only 4 less (27 vs 23). the pats allow a solid point less per game. they both are horrible on third down (44%). can you say double standard? the pats are considered "horrible" while the packers are a "championship" defense. they better wake up now because they are not. i feel like noone talks about that but everyone is ready to bash the pats D. they gave up 14 points within 2 minutes or so against the chargers to let a 21 point lead shrink to 7 points.

against the giants, they got into a shootout, whereas the pats could shut them down if it wasnt for that one last drive (that the packers D gave up too btw).

4) EVERYTHING IS GOING THEIR WAY RIGHT NOW

the 4 games i watched could all have been losses and turned on one play or the other. thats not always quality, sometimes its just luck. i remember a nasty illegal contact call and 4 challenges in favor of the packers against the giants, an unanimously (nfl highlights) horrible PI call against the chargers that extended the game winning drive on third down, the fumble at the end against the giants that bounced their way, bad red zone offense by the panthers (or else it would have been a SURE loss). the packers just had that one lucky thing per game that makes you win it. just take that fumble at the end against the giants. 1 ft in the other direction and its a fumble return TD. all the luck is deserved so far, but dont be surprised if they lose a game or two if that lucky bounce goes to the other team.

i dont hate the packers

just for the record: seriously, i am not a bears, lions or vikings fan, i dont give a fuck about the whole division, i only have slight sympathies (in the NFC) for the panthers and eagles. i expect the AFC to win the super bowl this year as their playoff field has more density and will surely send a superior team to the super bowl, while the packers wont even be there.

THE END

i know, i might be picking a little and kinda looking for something to criticize. i just think that while they are the best team right now, they are not as good as anyone thinks and i hope everybody will bump this post in february if i am wrong just for the lolz. if i am wrong, i can live with it.

watch out for the 49ers, packers fans. they run the ball and stop the run. aldon smith can get after the passer and bowman and willis can cover finley.

dont take this post too serious. i might exaggerated a little bit here and there, i just wanted to share my thoughts in general and if anyone agrees in here that the packers wont repeat and why.

surely, as a chargers fan, youre happy to see that mcfadden is not playing and he surely has the potential to be one of the players i mentioned.

but as of now and with the accolades he has and how the nfl is a passing league during the regular season, i dont think he is a top 3 RB. maybe he would be if he stayed healthy and had been able to keep it up, but right now, its just a very small sample size.

the last point is good, i wasnt aware of ford and moore. i didnt think it was worth a thought because the raiders WR core is world class sprinters all over the place, so i figured it wouldnt matter. really, a great point that you make, in fact, the game where jackson was suspended, mccoy had a tough time because the safety on his side was 15-20 yds deep and not 30+.

what do you guys think on that perfect season topic?

i think that the players want to go for the perfect season. when you think about it: every year a team gets a superbowl ring.

but every single year, the talk will be which team will join the 1972 dolphins and the 2007 patriots to go undefeated.

in this regard, its a way bigger accomplishment.

not going to lie, being a dolphins fan has been a bit easier the last few weeks, watching them piss away their draft pick. but screw it, i love wins.

My dream for this year would be a second Harbaugh-Harbaugh bash in the superbowl, where John of course comes up clutch again. Either that or Ravens-Packers where the Ravens give them their first loss of the season in the superbowl, just like with the Giants-Patriots.

If you've seen any Raiders film over the years, there's one guy who would likely stomp him... and everyone else for that matter.

Bo Knows.

if they figured out their qb situation a tad earlier, they might have been competitive.

they look better than the jets and bills right now. even though for the bills it was over when fred jackson went down.

im pleasantly surprised with how moore has been playing. and if we could get a few more wins, i think sparano will keep his job

can they please stop showing that injury?

and how lucky are the steelers that he is back. but after seeing that hit after the throw and that an oliner stepped on his injured foot, idk why you would play him.

batch cant be that bad. a FG might put this game away. worthlessberger is lucky not being on IR already, so why would you risk that another motivated brown lineman takes a shot?

Roethlisberger bugs me. in his postgame interview he was saying that he is pretty sure that his ankle is broken. If I have learned one thing from NS, it's that when YOUR ANKLES ARE BROKEN its a pretty serious problem. I cant see him playing with a broken ankle.
