Official NFL 2011-2012 Thread

That was about as good as Hanie could throw the ball...

Least the Raiders picked up the onside. Lechler will pin Chicago in he coffin corner, hopefully.

what i mean by that is the consistency issues of a lot of teams. ravens, cowboys are solid playoff contenders right now but dropped games in unmotivated fashions against bad teams or teams they had beat.

eagles had 4-5 games hanging on one dumb play. good team overall, but too many mistakes.

panthers, chargers and vikings (first game) playing the vikings as hard as noboby else and fuck shit up the rest of the time. with beason and a slightly better red zone offense, the panthers could have 3-4 wins more.

chargers are just too dumb to do anything consistently. had the jets on their heels, had the packers if it wasnt for two pick sixes by a perennial pro bowl QB who just has some issues right now.

pats look great now and looked great at the start but had that mid-season slide.

packers won everything, but a few games should have really been losses, especially the panthers game. but so far, you cant really say they are not the best team. although they wont repeat, mark my words.

then the bears and texans had the chance to be good teams. now they have to start hanie and favre or warner or who else they can find. titans could be a scary team but cant get their strength to work in their favor (until this game of course). the jets win games they really should lose. that has nothing to do with "clutch" or whatever, its just luck for the whole picture.

bills and lions looked awesome at the start, but will probably slide into oblivion once again. buccaneers were THE young, rising team of the last two seasons and just lay one egg after another.

broncos D keeps tebow in games and he gets all the credit for it. fucking colts, you gotta be kidding me. peyton cannot be that good. they would have 2-4 wins at best with him.

the only positively surprising teams are probably the 49ers and the bengals. apart from that, it really has been a season full of inconsistencies and teams just going flat when they should have been better and will probably be better next year.

on some hand its great because you have so many underdog wins and stuff, but for a fan of those legit teams that just continue to fuck themselves, its just a sad season to watch.

all i want now is the pats win it all, i dont even give a horseshit about the other playoff teams.

^ that's a pretty good analysis, it's definitely been a wild season!

i'm rooting for the broncos all the way, but in the end...

Next Superbowl will be PATRIOTS vs PACKERS.

pretty good job of summarizing the season so far, definitely lots of inconsistent teams out there although a large part of that is because of the number of injuries teams have sustained (no training camp...)

patriots offense is finally clicking but that defense is still awful, they have a few guys have should be making healthy returns by the playoffs but even still its not that impressive of a defense...they are last in the league in yards but 10th in the league is points allowed (credit where credit is due to bills 'bend but dont break attitude') its still hard to watch teams march all the way down the field against them praying they will only allow a field goal but its worked for the most part so far...

another thing to remember is their last 6 games are all against absolute scrub teams so of course the defense is going to look better than it actually is..5 out of their last 6 games are against backup quarterbacks

pats are fine imo.

you said it, they are better in pts allowed than in total yards. look at the game yesterday. they gave up 400 yds to vince young but in the end it was still a blowout (sadly, as i like the eagles too) and if it was the packers D, we all would be like "they did such a great job of preventing big plays and keeping things infront of them".

as long as they manage to stop the run in the playoffs, they will be fine. meaning that tom brady has to be ON the field and not watching his D giving up 10 minute drives. currently they get gashed for 10-20 yds a play up until the red zone and not a lot of time goes by until brady has the ball in his hands.

their last playoff exits were mainly because they couldnt stop the run and couldnt rush the passer (they were also manhandled along the offensive line). i think all those issues are better now and the offense can put up 25 or 30 on anybody, so the defense just have to hold the rest.

give credit to belichick for getting anderson and carter. all the talk is about haynesworth and how well that has played out, but those two were also solid additions. carter has 9 sacks and put down the jets comeback attempts almost by himself.

At this point in the season I still want the phins to win, but it hurts us in the draft. But I want sparano to keep his job. And with the lack of effort the eagles especially desean jackson Is putting in, I like the dolphins odds haha

yeah it really was a lost season very early. i admit that i always thought that they could get it together after the cowboys game for example. at the beginning of the year they dropped 3-4 games on individual mistakes. for example the 49ers game. they really should have won that. but brown tries to make a backward pass at the goal line and while still being in the game, maclin fumbles it. the bills game: 4 picks, but just one that wasnt tipped. tipped picks are unlucky, they could fall to the ground anywhere. and they were still in it, but another fumble by avant ended it. the falcons game: just one stop late or none of that hilarious long fumble return and the last drive with vick instead of kafka and they probably win it.

now, the pats and the seahawks game, they looked bad and flat allround. i think they should now go for next year, try some new players and find out if they can play.

most good players are still under contract. it was a bad year (lockout) to change so much from a personnel (D-coord.) and player standpoint. with a whole offseason, things shouldnt look too bad. i feel like they are 1 good linebacker, 1 good safety and 1 O-lineman away from doing good things.

vick stayed a lot in the pocket, but he got too many shots while being there and all of his injuries were sustained in the pocket (the latest one wasnt on that run, it was the 2nd play of the game) and they need to protect him. get a bigger back and a solid WR shouldnt be too hard either.

fucked up year, really thought they could do more, but the pats game was really when you saw the players give up on that year.

there is always a next year. sports are tough sometimes, but why would you even watch it when your team would always win?

i just think that they were better years to make so many additions. not directly an excuse, but i think you shouldnt measure this team (especially the defense) after one season.

the whole castillo thing hasnt worked out either, thats correct.

and the receiving corps needs an addition, correct. but again, the offense can put up 25+ points on anybody. and this has to be enough with the potential of the D.

i think everybody is too fast on labeling good teams and bad teams. everybody is talking like the playoffs should be cancelled because the packers are so good and will win it anyways. even the colts put up some good fights against legit teams. the chargers played the packers as hard as anybody. the next best were probably the panthers.

a lot of things go into winning football games. all the coaching things, individual execution, mental stability and luck. "good" teams have all of it, while just one thing missing constantly will make you 2-14 or so.

how many games turn on one fumble/pick/penalty/big play? not always is it perfect execution, sometimes its just a little luck and a close game swings or ends up in a blowout. football is a game where this is especially true.

So Hue Jackson needs to stop sucking dick and start running the ball. He's done this two weeks in a row. "Oh the run only gained three yards on first? Lets throw it until we have to punt." If he actually decided to run the ball a bit Palmer wouldn't be facing so many blitzes

Broncos havent been able to do shit running...

My statement implied that they would have to pass to score and thats what they did. I fail to see the point to your post

the two statements were not connected. I was merely praising tebow's accomplishment and mcgahee has 70 yds with only 13 carries. For Denver, I'd call that a successful running game

Vikings average 99 yds allowed per game so against a formidable Rush D like that I call that successful. Also, though Denver has been successful at running game past few weeks they were going against run D like San Diego, Kansas City, and Oakland (ranked 25,26, and 27 on rushing yards allowed).

do you not know how to read? I was praising Tebow's passing game and Denver's running game on a two separate level. That's why I said the two statements are unconnected. Also, Denver's two pass TDs makes it hard for Minnesota to stack it in the box, allowing the running game to open (did you just see that run?)

They are ranked 15th. Respectable but not even close to Minnesota. And Tebow had 9 completions out of 20 so it was easy for them to concentrate on the option

I now realize what you were trying to say. That being said, the way you write makes everything seem connected. Everything you said sounded like one linear thought instead of separate statements. No need to get angry, just be more clear
