Official NFL 2011-2012 Thread

You realize the Chiefs play the Patriots about once every 3 years, right?

they were caught video taping other team's signals

players were caught using hgh and steroids

they were accused by multiple teams of interfering with the radio signals at home games

there were widespread rule changes, and the largest fine and punishment in NFL history was levied after the NFL destroyed all the evidence to save their own ass.

oh my god.

doping-policies in the NFL are kind of a joke anyway. i dont like the european way of handling that (2+ years suspension in soccer, cycling, etc), but the NFL is def too lax. and its not like the patriots are the only team with any case of steroids or hgh or whatever.

and we already had this. they did break some rules, yes, and deservedly got some penalties handed to them. but its not like they sent 10 CIA agents to the jets facility in order to retrieve information about that team.

i bet shaun ellis has told them five times more about the jets than they did collect when they filmed the jets in a open booth instead of in a roofed one, which is morarily not cheating, but making a mistake. the data retrieved in a open one is very similar i would guess to a roofed one, or would you say otherwise?

i downright hate how you act all so full of yourself like the pats killed some other teams players by manipulating their brakes or whatever.

i am a chargers fan, but this patriots-bashing is getting old. old as fuck. i bet you despise the eagles too for giving a convicted criminal a second chance.

i hate how everyone is living in the past in the NFL.

AND, havent you watched a chiefs game (i guess thats your team) and guessed the offensive play call right 80% of the time? i sure as hell have when i watch chargers games. maybe its only 75% or so, but if i can reach that number, a professional coach or player who is well prepard should at least get the offensive play call based on down-and-distance, formation, tape studies and some minor gestures/movements by the players (look at bad WRs before a run play, or the positioning of a inferior offensive tackle before a pass play) right 9 out of 10 times. this is also why certain surprising play calls work that well. or when a team goes against their tendencies, they can fuck some shit up.

not reading but guessing your argument is the same as every other pats fans,

"Yes we got caught cheating (multiple times) but other teams (might) have cheated too."

"Yes we cheated, but you shouldn't really care"

great point dude, youre one classy guy.

yeah actually i am a chargers fan. i also watch pats games, but i also watch eagles or panthers games.

please inform yourself on that matter and get your head out of your own ass. seriously, it wasnt that bad. like i really dont like the steelers, but i am not saying that roethlisberger is a rapist. i dont like the ravens, but i dont care what was up with ray lewis back then. lets say one of these teams where the reason for spygate, i bet i wouldnt jump all over them like you are. thats just bad sportsmanship.

leave stuff in the past thats in the past. especially stuff that wasnt as bad as you might think. wouldnt you expect the NFL to strip the pats of their SB titles if the stuff was really serious?

great another misinformed faux-football fan....let me guess you think theyre 'proven cheaters' because of the taping issue? oMg the pats videotaped another teams practice derrr!!!11!1!

The green bay packers did the same exact thing the year before but it was never blown out of proportion. Even Eric Mangini is quoted as saying they regularly shoot at both ends of the stadium during games and that "We do it every (game), regardless of playoff (or) preseason, just like we do it every day in practice. It's not really that big of a deal"

Former Dallas Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson also said he did the same exact thing when he was coach and that a lot of teams in the NFL do the same exact thing. Also the Broncos were investigated for doing the same exact thing in 2010 after videotaping the 49er's...wheres the outrage at that?

Bill Cowher one of the most respect and revered coaches in the history of the NFL said that he tried stealing signals as coach of the Steelers and that every team in the NFL employs people to do the same exact thing

The patriots are the team of the decade and people just needed a reason to try and take them down a peg...do yourself a favor and research a little bit next time before running your mouth because you sound like a clueless jackass.

please inform yourself, ok? would you just read a few articles that were written back then and think how big your outrage would be if it was the broncos or the jaguars or the colts or whatever.

just relax a little and open your mind just a little. it wont hurt, i promise.

All those articles say the pats cheated in years they won the superbowl and the NFL destroyed the evidence. Do you disagree? If not, whats your argument? Do you have one besides, "You shouldn't care about cheating as much as you do."? Because I'm not ever gonna buy that one.

I have no reason to hate the Patriots other than cheating. I was cheering for them against the Packers, the AFC game against the Raiders, the Rams and Panthers. I also liked Barry Bonds when he was younger and Roger Clemens before he retired but I don't now.

i dont say that they didnt break some rules. thats obvious and nothing to debate. i am not even pulling the card that other teams did something too because thats no excuse imo.

i just say that the extent of what they did wrong is not enough to discredit their 3 SB titles.

all they did wrong is filming IN THE WRONG LOCATION. the filming itself wasnt the issue. again, thats no excuse, they knew the rules and they got the penalty (a really harsh one if you think about it) and i have no issue with that.

but idk what you call "cheating" when the same filming 20 metres away in a roofed booth would have been legal. i just think you are overreacting a little bit, as are thousands of people in the comments section on every patriots-related page on nfl.com. i play football and there is a reason playbooks arent distributed via email or so and players are asked not to scan them in and stuff. and our signals are kept especially secret and arent written somewhere but are only explained at the beginning of the season in a special meeting. again, they clearly DID something wrong, but i think its in no way giving any discredit to their SB wins.

i would be willing to take a losing season though if we spent it training and preparing a new young qt back.....ponder or webb both have potential....but wasting the season on mcnabb is effin pointless. we have an extremely talented team the enjoys playing together....we just need a leader to put it all together. when that happens watch out! at least untill they choke in the playoffs or something.... :( As a lions fan you see it eventualy works out training a young qt back!

shit like this pisses me off so much. quit talking all condescending about being a FAN of a team like you accomplished anything for the lions. the lions are sick this year and one of the funnest teams to watch, so of course they are going to get more attention and more fans. fucking sports hipsters, i swear...

there are just people that like to cheer only for winning teams. it annoys me too, but complaining does nothing. some people just like to win and not stand behind anyone.

Hahaha alright. But watch. As soon as they lose a game, People are going to be all like "Lions looking like crap again." and shit like that. No need to get all riled up about it. Jesus. Its just funny seeing it.

thats just how sports work. ok, i am a chargers fan, so the last few years havent been that bad (reg season wise) and really nobody is on their bandwagon but late in the season the whole "most talented team"-thingy comes back again and the circle goes all the way.

i have no problem with people rooting for good teams, because thats only logical. i mean, lets say the chargers go 3-13 this year due to an inprobable collaps. of course i wouldnt watch every game to the end. people that do arent "real fans", they just have nothing else to do.

i of course would go to my other likeable teams like the pats, eagles and panthers. there has to be a reason you watch a game, and watching the pats offense, watching the chargers offense, watching vick and newton, thats exciting. but the more these things fail to deliver, i go to another one (right now all of them are legit, yes the eagles have problems, but they should really be 3-1 or even 4-0).

this has nothing to do with "bandwagoning". i just have something better to do in my life than to strap myself to one team whose players dont know me, whose front office doesnt know me and both dont give a serious fuck about me. i like to have fun while watching football.

yes, come playoff time, my options grow thin normally. maybe, none of your favourite teams make the super bowl (or kinda probable). but you cant tell me that you dont jump on one teams bandwagon that week. why would you even watch the game elsewise? i dont like the steelers, so i rooted for the pack last year. i dont care too much about the colts and the saints, but i wanted brees to get the SB, so i was for the saints. I HAVE NO CLUE HOW THAT MAKES ME A "LAME" BANDWAGON JUMPER.

/rant

So true. Only time I didn't root for anyone was that godawful Raiders-Bucs superbowl. That game I rooted for a natural disaster to take out both teams haha.

lol, yeah sometimes its just like "who cares". i usually end up like that in soccer WCs with germany choking in the semi-finals.

I could see that happening... I'd expect more if they had beat Buffalo and were 3-1 right now...

but...

Houston

Cleveland

KC

Bye

Denver

SD

Minnesota

Chicago

Miami

Green Bay

Detroit

KC

San Diego

very favorable schedule the rest of the way... I see at least 7 more wins the rest of the way.

They have no excuse to not run the west again this year so that's out of the way. This week Houston does not have Andre Johnson so even though they have foster and others that gives them a chance. Cleveland has gotten better but the raiders d-line will tear McCoy up and the Browns still aren't that good. Skipping past the AFC west, Minnesota is awful this year. Chicago is a toss up. Defense=great. Offense=inconsistent. Forte ran for 205 yards this week but last week he had either 2 or -2. Cutler is a turnover machine so we'll see what happens there. Miami doesn't have a quarterback, they're saying Henne is out for the season. Green Bay will win, they're the best team in the league. Detroit will probably win, they're scary good this year. And then they finish off with the AFC west. They have no excuse to not go at least 10-6, could be better. Unless a major meltdown happens I don't see them going less then 10-6

although its still really early in the season it looks like my prediction that the redskins would finish ahead of the giants may actually happen

I'm going to reserve my confidence and assume San Diego still turns it on in the 2nd half of the season...

We'll sweet KC and surely Denver, but will probably split with SD.

Green bay will win, but I'm till not sure about Detroit holding out through the year. I still believe they have a bit more talent than we do overall. They actually have an offensive line for the first time in forever.

I could see us fucking up against someone though. Oakland always fucking has a fail... Although hopefully that was Buffalo, and we run it out the rest of the way the way it should go...

If we can win the games we should and beat down Chicago the way we did the Jets, we should do fine.

Worst we do is another 8-8 year.

hahaha says a Chiefs fan... You're gonna get smoked. Hard...

Nobody even remembers you have a actually have a superbowl championship. Go in your hole and suck for Luck. (Miami's still going to get him)

Lol. Who's saying the Raiders are winning the super bowl? I'm just happy they don't suck anymore... If they go 10-6 and make the playoffs, i'd be perfectly content with that alone. Even if they suffer a first round thrashing...

yea, i mean if my team had no shot at winning anything at i'll i wouldn't mind getting last place and snagging a. luck

I have one team and they have a shot at winning it every single year. You don't have an NFL team because you live in an area of California that is more rural than Kansas.

... There's not a single part of California that's necessarily more rural than Kansas. Stop talking out of your asshole.
