Official NFL 2011-2012 Thread

i dont like him too, but i guess he was talking about davis' debatable influence on the team over the last years. drafting track stars instead of football players for example.

If Jamarcus Russel wasn't such a fat lazy fuck, we could have been really good...

Heyward-Bey isn't all that bad outside of his shitty hands. Overall, his drafting hasn't been all that terrible - and certainly not the worst.... The Raiders had to pretty much completely rebuild after 2003. They were an old team.

Besides... What's wrong with Track Stars? Deshawn Jackson? Jahvid Best? They seem to be doing quite alright.

i am not saying that track stars arent working, but there has to be something else to it or else a team would rather sooner than later get usain bolt.

and "heyward-bey isnt all that bad outside of his shitty hands", i mean hes a WR after all so thats an issue.

if it works out, everythings fine, but when you drop high picks like that you will sooner or later get questioned.

you seriously don't know shit about your own team. you're the only raider 'fan' who would make that argument and Im betting you only made it to disagree with me.

not really, I just meant compared the area I live in. anyway shouldnt you be studying up on cnn articles about the ussr? chicks love that stuff man, you'll go far

hardly... I have faith in my team. especially after we swept the AFC West last year... Sure, Oakland was retarded out of division matchups, but going 6-0 in your own conference is something legit.

You're just being obnoxious for the sake of it.. and here you're the one who PM'd me saying that I was being annoying. get a grip. lol.

Yeah, that's true but it's not like it's JUST speed... size is another thing the Raiders have gone for. They are big, AND fast. Those are intangibles you cannot teach...

Hands you can teach...

i know what you mean, but i wouldnt say that you can make a NFL receiver from a catching standpoint out of anybody.

imo, you just have to have it. i like randy moss for that reason. he is always given credit for his speed/size combo, but he was a talented pass-catcher and knew everything about football.

when a guy is a good catcher/knows football, you probably know him for that, as his QB goes to him on 3rd down all the time. antonio gates in SD, davon bess in miami, welker in NE, heck even holmes in new york or avant in PHI (probably the best example, as he is virtually invisible on 1st/2nd down).

BOTTOM LINE: teach anybody how to catch a football --> no problem.

prepare anybody physically and mentally to catch an NFL-slant over the middle right into a linebacker, a leaping catch in a crowd 30 yds downfield or dragging the toes on a 10 yd out --> more of a problem and you might not have enough time in the NFL to develop to your fullest since another draft pick will come in sooner or later...

yea I was trying not to fight in the thread. you're not going to listen to what I say but you really don't know a lot about the NFL or the Raiders, you just have a lot of practice talking on the internet so you can fake it. real Raiders fans hate all the bandwagoners who are just attracted to the logo/uniforms, you apparently weren't even aware that this 'phenomena' existed, so you're prob just one of them. Everyone knows that Al Davis was tied as worst owner over the last decade, its not even a debate, except with you of course. How can you take yourself seriously saying that Heyward-Bey isn't all that bad, and you did it twice. Even if he didn't suck, which he unequivocally does (2 touchdowns in his career), they still spent their first round pick on him when no other team was even remotely interested at that point. Go take a look at the names in the rest of the first round and you'll see all the pro-bowlers you missed out on.

You're backing Heyward-Bey, I just wanted to reiterate that, fucking Heyward-Bey

I don't go into the NHL and pretend to what I'm talking about so idk why you're so hell bent on doing it in this thread. Also you're only responses have been "you're a dick", and "you're a Chiefs fan", not "you're wrong" bc I'm not.

Quick fantasy question. Do I start Josh Freeman against the 49ers or Hasselbeck (who has been doing great, mind you) against the Steelers.

As of now I'm going with Freeman.

This guy's trying to tell me how to be a Raider fan... Please bud... spare yourself.

Trust me, Heyward-Bey would never have been my first pick that year... or maybe anyone else... But as far as draft picks go, in the lower draft picks so far have turned out better than expected, if not spot on in some cases. DHB has been pretty bad, yes... but so have the Raiders in general. You also can't disregard his hamstring problems.

It's not like Al Davis has been the best. That's not what I'm saying... but my disapproval in him has had far less to do with the draft and far more to do with changing coaches every 10 days... Even hiring Lame Kiffen... Fucking silly.

I'm not hellbent on anything bud... you're the one who's hellbent on talking shit lol.

Steve Smith domming some bitch, here let me score a td, ignore your bullshit until I finish my dance, then come over and put you on your back while all my friends watch

How is it so hard to see the guy has potential to be a serious factor?

115 yards last week.

99 yards this week.

Making his catches. Running his routes. Doing what is at least somewhat 'expected' of him.

... but you're right I should just give up on being a Raiders fan just because you hate them, and therefore I'm retarded for going against your grain by enjoying their successes.

I'm saying you're not an actual Raiders fan. Potential is only good if you're a college player expecting to be picked up in the middle rounds, not for a 3rd year top 10 pick.

Oh? want what's a real raiders fan do I ask? Because I don't see how defending players on my team from shit-talking makes me not a fan...

... A real fan wants his team to win, no matter what... regardless of the decisions of the owner.

because they're fucking retarded. orton has not made one good play this entire game, he just panics, runs, and then randomly tosses it and the chargers intercept it. fuck orton

And a better team around him. Orton is a good qb, he just needs support and a decent team around him, two things he hasnt gotten. He needs a team where he knows hes the priority.

But yes, I despise every ounce of Tim Tebow.

so, just for future reference (my first page/preseason predictions arent THAT bad)

on the eagles (i kinda root for the eagles since they gave vick this second chance 2 years ago, but its not my main team):

they play well, but have one or two issues every game that cost them (primarily penalties, turnovers and tackling). their defense isnt the total shithole like everybody says but doesnt win games for them. their offense also plays well but tends to turn the ball over to often. with only one of these units struggling, not that bad, but with both doing just enough to lose games, its bad, yes, but its definitely correctable.

of course they lost those games and with their mistakes, deservedly so. but its not like they had no chance. in fact, they should be at LEAST 3-2 or 4-1 when you look at all those games in detail.

vick is playing extraordinary. yes i said that. yes i know he "threw" 4 picks yesterday (the only one you can really blame him was the pick six imo, and if it had been brett favre throwing that one, everybody would be up his ass how great a gunslinger/gambler/competitor he is considering the huge hit he took on that play). but you look at his throws when hes given the slightest bit of time. fucking bullets. imo he is a top 3 intermediate (20-30 yds) passer right now. not as great when going down the field as last year but i guess defenses wont let jackson run past them anymore. yesterday, a dumb holding call cost the eagles the chance make it a 3-point game, against SF, maclin put the ball on the ground in game-winning-FG-range. i know vick will get heat now, but if you look at these games, HE IS NOT THE PROBLEM. and he doesnt get hurt WHILE OUT OF THE POCKET, so idk what you should blame him for. he shows up, he honors and deserves his big contract as well as or even more as any big signing of this offseason.

you can laugh at them all you want about how much money they wasted when in reality, they didnt waste all that much. they have a smart policy in place when negotiating contracts and got asomugha at a relative bargain (you cant tell me DAL wasnt putting 15 m/year on the table). they were a good team last year and felt like they didnt need much to really make a run. i know they are right now the poster boys for why you dont build through free agency, but mccoy, celek, cole, maclin, jackson, avant, patterson are legit players they drafted over the last 6 years (and a short research showed me that at least another 7 starters were drafted by them and some flex starters/quality backups).

they remind me a lot of last years chargers. a solid team undone by individual mistakes (primarily fumbles and a NFL highlight reel of ST blunders).

the bold prediction you are waiting for? here it is: the eagles finish 10-6 or 11-5 this year, winning this suddenly weak division and make a deep run (NFC champ.+), IF THEY WIN THEIR NEXT GAME.

or in other words. who, outside of the packers (NFC teams) would you bet 500 $ right now to beat the eagles? yeah, i thought so.

I agree with you. Especially on the running aspect, McCoy needs to get the ball more as well as Jackson on shorter tosses. The team doesn't seem fired up enough. I think Andy Reid is a good coach but something just isn't there. A great thing about McNabb was his ability to lead the team even in tough times. This leadership role isn't as fulfilled with Vick, and with Dawkins gone the D has lost it's drive and rage. I really hope they turn around and make it to the playoffs, but I will stick with them no matter what. If they have a losing record this season I'm sure we'll see some vast changes next year.

I don't get why they don't give McCoy the ball more either, he is a huge weapon and it will open up that passing game for vick, but their defense is what is killing them, i haven't watched the eagles much but it looks like any running back can run through them.

It's like when the vikings don't give the ball to adrian peterson...i don't care how predictable it is, he is the best.
