Official Nerd/Geek Thread

Didn't see this, yeah the Death Knight is a class only available if you have a level 55, also yeah DPS tends to have the least amount of stress when it comes to the group really needing you. Alliance is fun, the only thing is that a lot of the younger WoW played choose alliance typically so sometimes you wind up in a BG or PVP with people who are high levels but aren't really good. Horde is usually the more advanced group but then again there are noobs all over, so don't just go by that. Alliance is still lots of fun!

i play maplestory

...

it's actually pretty fun even though most people that play it are pretty gay and like having online girlfriends and shit

Haha, I was just about to post that. And I find a lot more kids on Horde than Alliance nowadays (play both).

the thing is, i hate guild wars and wow and stuff because of the angle you play at. i like the side view and using only the keyboard, instead of a mouse to attack.

I'm in the top 1% for all Angry Bird releases.

At one point, I was ranked 1st in the Angry Birds Valentines. Lame claim.

Also, prestiged 10 times for that Golden Cross on COD4.

Not really geek status.

Been heavily involved in robotics for 4 years and our nerd group convinced pretty much the whole senior class last year to start playing Yu-gi-oh... there's my nerdism

well something like ubuntu requires no time or patience even on most laptops. But you don't get full geek points for doing that.

Next wednesday I'm going to attempt to get a linux distro running on my retina MBP. I have heard of major issues with thunderbolt ports and the new screen, but I still want to try. I hate trying to get apps working on X11 when I can just one click install them on linux.

That being said, I'm not deleting OSX from this laptop because it's actually so radical if you have an apple TV and an iphone. apple is slowly getting me back, but I will always have a linux distro on my computer. I can't even imagine the amount of money I would have to spend to get a software set up like I had on my last linux machine.

Yeah... okay.

I think anyone who put the time and effort into building a PC has the know how of how to keep it virus free. It's nearly impossible to get anything malicious as long as you have half a brain, and don't click every ad you see. Go to trusted sites, and download from trusted sources, and you shouldn't have a problem.

Should a problem arise a combination of free antivirus/ virus removal will make a world of a difference.

i suppose i'm somewhat geeky. although, i do not own ANY consoles, just my computer. i play on a mac so that already puts me in the red as far as geek points go.

however, my friends and i run shattered hand. i'm making my fourth twink so i'm a little proud of the amount of game time i put into it

and at one time i was a highly ranked member of FOE, the runescape pure clan.

I play Team Fortress 2. Probably one of the most brilliant shooters I have ever played. I have a lot of hats, since the game is also a combat scenario hat simulator.

Heres a good one for any people into space. Not sure if I should post the image since it's so big but it's basically a picture showing the path of every space mission in history (without all the earth orbiting ones)

very cool to follow some of them and see where they went especially with the ones that had gravity assists.

here is the small version with just the terrestrial planets shown to see what I mean

I took 2 astronomy courses at my local college and it was the greatest classes I have ever took.

I was so giddy during the Curiosity landing.

we had an awesome little party for the landing. It sucked that all the video streams kept showing shots of the control room people. I wish they had have kept on of the streams just on the screen showing velocity and alititude and the simulation.

But yeah that was an awesome event. Only time I cheered louder for a science event this summer was when Joe Incandela reported 5sigma at the cern announcement.

Been looking into building a comp recently and I think i'm gonna do it. Any tips/tricks/helpful words of wisdom?

I bought a pack of pokemon cards the other day for the nostalgia and because a blastoise was sitting on top
