Official mountain biking thread

We just got a bunch of a rain and im

very stoked to try this new shock out in some good conditions. Obsessed with this bike so far.

First time back riding in a month after injury, blow up rear tire :/

This Enduro on Sunday is going to be challenging

Are latches on thru axles not a thing anymore?

I noticed my front wheel having a little movement side to side, tightened the other side down and stopped it, but I just feel like I’m missing something here

Yooooo. I have to wait another month for my YT Capra mx to ship out lol.

that’s a sick Izzo btw

I’ve had nothing but great experiences in the 2 years I’ve been riding my izzo. Only thing is that the stock headset is floppy dogshit. I noticed a pretty big difference in stiffness when switching to a hellbender.

Latches are for quick release axles, which are indeed not so common these days.

Gotcha, so it’s just threaded on basically? Just seems odd, my bmx has two nuts sort of clamping the front down.

it feels fine now, didn’t know if a bolt or something was missing

Which RS fork is that? Some axles just thread on and some have pinch bolts as well. Most of the 35mm stanchion and narrower forks from RS don't have pinch bolts

I smell mucho marketing bullshit related to that vivid air.

Honestly after my first ride, i am pretty blown away. I still need to dial it in a little more, but it felt amazing right out the gate. i'll be curious to see how it does long term compared to the X2.

Ok ok thanks. Last question that is the magic black Color I’m guessing ?

Yeah, that’s the color.

It does have a matte ridewrap on it though, the normal color is way more glossy and in my opinion looks a bit better.

Race weekend. Blew up my derailer and on my third day back from being injured put a big old hole in my foot.

Bummed to miss this year's race but at least I get a beer ticket

How's your foot doing with the hole and all?

Sounds like we need a holy foot pic

If the whole thread pitches in maybe we can afford it

I could probably make pretty good money tbh. I've got a conjoined toe on my left foot. I feel like I could charge more

Valmont slapped today, Boulder folks are so lucky to have this in town. I swear a Harvard civil engineer designed this it’s so nice.

Is that stock paint on the frame?

looks really good

Yep, paint is stock. I did some new decals that theme the bike to the band Sepultura. Covered up the gold highlights, changed the font of the transition logo, and a lil red sepultura sticker for some pop

What bmx is that? Also going to any lift access??

Older haro midway, I got it for cheap and upgraded. The hi tens are my favorite bar, ten in rise and helps for taller people

im broke as hell right now, so just whatever free stuff in the area. Might take a day trip up to friscos park one day

Fuck... i needed to buy an hg driver to replace my xd driver on my new wheel and my dumbass bought another xd driver... some now I'm stuck with two and I still can't use my new wheel

The hole in my foot is driving me nuts though. It has "healed" but it went right through the thick callouses so now I just have a crater in my foot that will continue to hurt when I run and bike until I get the callouses back. I measure that shit and it was 2/3 of an inch deep

Doesn't REALLY hurt but is annoying as fuck. Even moreso considering that I made the hole in a stupid way

that’s such a annoying spot that sounds horrible

maybe you already mentioned but how on earth did you manage that lmao

Jumped into Lake Superior in a too-shallow spot. Rock or something else put a nice puncture in it. I cut out and literally sanded down the surrounding callousness today with a Dremel but I think it's just gonna be annoying during ultra-training over the next few months.

I broke my ribs biking at the beginning of August. That I was fine with because I like what I was doing-but to have a hit to my training in such a stupid way is way more annoying than the injury itself.

*Jumping into superior after literally having my derailleur sucked into my rear wheel destroying my groupset 2 days before race day so yeah

You building a new setup or swapping parts over? Whats the final product

Hopefully building a new setup, I’ve been working at a shop for the last few months with really good discounts so I’m trying to take advantage while I can.

Probably going to go with a Zeb or a Grip2 swapped Bomber Z1 Coil for the fork, DHX2 or Super Deluxe Ultimate Coil for the shock, Nobl wheels, GX transmission, maybe Berd spokes, and also possibly shigura brakes. All depends on how much I’m willing to spend though.

Sounds like a beastly setup for sure. Why get a marzochi with zeb in it though? As opposed to just getting a zeb

Zeb is way stiffer due to 38mm stanchions, meaning, in theory, it is more stable at speed. Bomber is on a 36mm chassis so lighter but less stiff.

You can get a stock bomber with a coil spring, but for the Zeb that’s a 350$ upgrade

Bomber coil comes with fox’s GRIP damper, which is pretty low end and has no high speed adjustments. The GRIP2 damper is fox’s high end damper and has way more adjustment.

How about you stop being an impatient prick?

Ah I see thats cool, you going with the stock colour of the bomber too? If youre swapping the springs maybe paint it a matte black or something?
