Official Holiday Valley / Kissing Bridge Thread

Yeah I don't think I will ever go back to holiday valley, maybe for some midweek day riding but certainly never on a weekend. They really need to figure something out, I spent most of my time just waiting while entire families rolled over all the lips on their way through the park.

I find fiddlers a great run for park, but far too many non park skiers enjoy the run. I honestly don't know what hv could do to separate the run for both types of skiers to enjoy it, which does suck.

i mean it isn't too bad for rails for the most part, but that jump is brutal. At the very least, park crew needs to put up a fence on the knuckle so gapers can't get up there and stand there and in the landing. Its crazy honestly how bad it gets I've seen waves of 20 gapers roll through then fuck around on that jump with complete disregard for anything.

Whats with holiday valley closing the park at 9 now? Morning star lift closes a half hour earlier than everywhere else anyway, why can they just wait until then to rake the features? its bs

Park Crew it too lazy to do their job so they close the park early so they can go home.

What's up with no park on foxfire either ? That was always great and last year it was so nice with both foxfire and fiddlers having parks, granted we had a ton of snow but still

Yee Hv is lit cause the actual terrain is the best around. They're parks super fun too I think. I just think they're the best resort around when you look at the whole picture. Opening & Closing dates, facilities, terrain variety, vibe etc.. Just my opinion tho. Everyone rides where their friends are tho that's what it comes down too.

I tend to disagree. KB is pretty lit, no snow, bare spots, dirt, and minimal park action is where the real fun is at. 1 main headwall and no real steeps because those are scary. And the extremely slow lifts allow me to vape for longer and complain about my shin bang. Kb is lit, you should come sometime

Not having a real park crew just so happens to be an added benefit.

fuck that. I kind of feel like park crew is slacking this year. sure, they built a decent amount of new features, but theres still room for a bunch of features on fids. I would like to see more jumps as well, but thats more of a snowmaking thing than park crew being lazy i guess. ITs really pretty disappointing how the park turned out this year, i was sure that they would be better than ever based on how dope that early season park was. although i will say one good thing about the park this year is you can hit every feature in a run, and what is set up is pretty fun.

Does anyone know when the next rebuild is?

what the hell happened to snoozer? was it even touched at all this year? and i second that notion on wondering what the plan is next year...

Everyone is hurting this year in pretty much every possible way.

Doesnt holiday have a new park guy? Probably a transition year for them. I can't really hit many of the features anyways but they all look so shitty. Features themselves are cool but their park crew is just ass. Honestly it wouldn't be that bad if they raked a few times a day. It wouldn't take so long to redo lips and it wouldn't be a shit show. Hell, I see more guys out raking KB than I have at HV.

I kinda wish they had more variety. Like there's basically one or two lines you can take. I guess if you can hit the features it's not a big deal. But at least at peek there's soooo many different lines to take and it's cool to go through and be able to hit one thing per section. At holiday I feel like I'm constantly cutting back and forth or having to skip something to hit the next. Idk that's probably a me problem but oh well. I liked last years set up on fiddlers. This year I'd just rather not even go there haha.

If I'm not wrong, Chris perks is still the head of parks. I have to agree on the maintenance problem though, they never rake and lips get crazy rutted by like midday. Of course it doesn't help that every gaper ever goes down that hill and sidejumps every feature. It is what it is though, holiday valley is about as far as I will go as my home resort, and it really isn't that bad at the end of the day. It is what it is

Chris Perks is not the head of HVs parks and never has been, hes the head builder and simply does as hes told. Head of parks is Mike Nenno and dictates what Perks is allowed to build. If Perks ran the show it would be a lot different.

Oh shit I didn't know that, I always just assumed it was Chris perks because he built everything. He kills it with building though, those new rails are all super fun

Yep, unfortunately they didn't give him much freedom this year. A lots changing next year tho. Different hills for parks (fids is staying) possibly a crew of "boiz" but its all to early to say for sure!

Is that what Pat Morgan did before he went to Big Boulder?

Morningstar takeover?

Yeah Pat and the new guy Mike don't actually build anything or plan the setups they just deal with the management and mountain crew with getting snow making and cat time or event planning etc.. Mike kinda put a strangle hold on the whole thing. He kinda ruined it this year because he wont let Perks build anything super big or let the crew use all the space on the hill. He says there has to be a path for "everyone" which is idiotic hence the Jerry problem. He might not be in the same position next year we hope. Next years plans sound awesome but who knows if they will live up to it..

Rumor I heard is right side of Moriningstar, Moonshadow, Fiddlers Elbow. Fingers crossed haha.

I actually heard that for the last few weeks of this season they might push the snow on moon shadow into a jump line. Do you know if that's true at all?

Lol wut. Then put all the features on one side and leave the other side open for people to ski through? And the features aren't exactly big but definitely not "for everyone." So I don't really see how they managed to implement that. Hahaha. Actually, screw that. It's a fucking park it's not meant to be "for everyone" so wtf lol. I mean there's a reason for the small park on mardi...

It is amazing to me how many Jerrys make their way onto fiddlers. It is honestly pretty far away from the other 57 fucking hills that they can ski down. It isnt like fiddlers is even a good "skiing" hill but its perfect for the park obviously. They are even taking LESSONS down fiddlers!!! WTF is up with that shit!!! bringing little kids down possibly the most dangerous part of the whole mountain! Does anyone know if there is someone that we can talk to about the lessons or influx of gapers? Like who is in charge of the whole operation that we could email?

Well that would just be wicked. Any reason why snoozer was left untouched this year?

Bro my resort in ohio has "park lessons" where they teach the kids to ride over the kickers for rails and the instructor stops with his class in front of a feature and places the kids on the down box and the kids 5050 it. It's ridiculous. I saw the same instructor try to straight air a 20 ft jump and he ejected out.

Snoozer isn't a park anymore. The hill was awfully exposed to wind and made you skate to a lift at the bottom so they ditched it.

ahh makes sense, and i hated skating back to sunrise lol

The new park on fiddlers is pretty good. Some cool new features tripple waterfall, DFD, long corrugated with an elbow, and some other cool new stuff. It's fun and you can still basically hit everything in 1 run if you want to which is cool and they started to fill all that empty space at the bottom of the hill with features. Am I the only one who thinks the jump is ass now? Cause it feels alot different from what it was.

Are there any down tubes/ rails that are sorta close to the ground set up?

Actually yes. The 45ft tube is super low and they have both of the little ones in low. The littles ones are set staggered tho. My best attempt at an example is... ( _-- ) not exactly ideal for learning.

13643271:moosevision said:
HV parks are always lit on weekends, everyone rolls squad deep!

Some guys were pretty slick on the rails, haven't seen that in a while!

Why did they stagger the tube rails like that? I got no idea how to do it

Making a trip to either 7 springs or Holiday Valley the 12th. How is the resort looking non park wise? Just curious because I have never been to seven springs but I loved holiday valley when I went last season. Im tired of skiing down my 150 ft vertical hill in ohio lol

I went night skiing last night, it was icy af and parts were iced corduroy... but i think snow is on the way, hoping for cold Temps.

Does anyone know anything about kbs rail jam on Saturday? Are they gonna set something decent up? Is anyone going? I feel like it's just gonna be a complete joke but if they set something up that isn't completly awful it could be fun

By the 12th everywhere around here is gonna be hurting, supposed to be 60s early next week. Everywhere from springs to holiday.

How is the park at kissing bridge right now?

Nonexistent. They took everything out last night becuase it's supposed to be warm next week and they are too lazy to maintain it. Don't worry, you didn't miss anything though, kbs parks were the worst I have ever seen them by far this year. It was so so bad and sketchy haha

Last weekend for the season? or just park?

I meant for fiddlers elbow/the Morningstar lift. They stockpiled a ton of snow in the yodeler and chute areas so I bet they will stay open for 2-3 more weeks at least. Fiddlers is another story though, everything might melt out with the warm temps and rain that is forecasted

Damnn. I haven't even been to Holiday since like 2 weekends ago so I have no idea what it's like. I was hoping we'd get a little bit more out of the season. Fuck!

don't worry, holiday valley is doing great right now. no bare spots, the park is fun and slushy, and the base is deep on most trails. The problem is, is all the rain combined with 50-60 degree temps can change that real quick. Im hoping for the best, but realistically i don't see fids lasting much longer than next weekend if the forecast is realized. Who knows, maybe holiday valley will somehow manage to pull through and keep the park open until april haha

Holiday keeping the parks open til April is as realistic as Orlando getting a blizzard in June haha. This winter has been awful, nobody around here will be open in April sadly. Unless they move all their snow to one trail.
