Official Holiday Valley / Kissing Bridge Thread

Possibly headed up to HV the weekend of the 23rd, any predictions on how good it will be/ what the parks will look like? Thanks!

There's a competition tomorrow, so the park is being changed up. It'll probably re-done a bit after that, so what you see tomorrow may not be a good representation of what's to come.

pretty cool compared to past setups, they redid the 1st jump, looks nice and poppy. rail setup is progressive for them, starts with the donkey dick or down rail, then a hip/pole tap or a decent size kicker onto the flat-down box (the one thats only like 1-2 feet of flat before the long down section) thats pretty much made to be disastered with big air on, after that you got a flat bar dfd and the C box and also a flat-down rail that connects to a down rail (about 6 inch drop between the two), next the long 3-pipe wide down rail (the one that used to be painted black) and the shorter fat metal pipe, after that is some of those black ridged tubes and the longer fat metal pipe rail with down butter box landing, that one goes into a makeshift staircase setup which is the two dfd handrails from the old lodge set up parallel about 15 feet apart with a shotgun rail in the middle which ends at a ledge dropoff so you get some nice air. wallride is on the left, then you got that looooong fat metal pipe rail setup real close to the ground and then 2 shitty boxes basically built into the ground. i was decently drunk the whole time i was lapping so i mightve forgotten a feature or two or mixed up the order a bit but thats basically the setup as far as i remember

i messaged them on facebook about this yesterday. The park and the park chairlift is closed. They're taking things out and moving things for spring sessions on 4/20.

99% sure the only lift open the rest of the season is Yodeler.

will the spring session cost anything? and im so ready to get haaaamered and smoke with people 4/20 holiday valley is going to be awesome im so stoked. also what do they usually have set up! thanks ill have ON3P blue steeles 2nd gen and helmet and black pants ns party!

both parks are pretty decent. kb remodeled their park this year (got new rails, painted features, added a new park, got an airbag). the jumps at kb aren't that good though. always have icy or carved out landings and there are always people standing on the knuckles and on the landings. the only problems with kb are they dont move features once they set them up, they only maintain the jumps and rails at the main park (by the end of the year there were small jumps that turned into rollers and rails that weren't maintained to a point where the kicker on to them just turned into a pile of snow) and it takes a while for the main park to open. personally, i loved kbs park this year, and imo it had a ton of fun features.

the parks are pretty sick at holiday valley too. they have a sick main park, and the features are moved around on a regular basis. they have sick features, and they get creative with their setups. they have pretty good jumps, and they can be hit in a line without having to speed check too much. the only thing about holiday valley thats bad is there is always a lift line for the park lift, or at least on weekends there is one. at kb, you can lap the main park fast (theres a double that only services the terrain park and one other trail). on a good day, you can get in 2 or 3 runs in 10 minutes.

i personally am at kb more than holiday valley (kb is 40 minutes closer to me). im there 2 or 3 times a week usually. i go to holiday valley on weekends about every other week. so ill be around for sure.

Here is a shitty long edit I threw together, but there are some shots of HV park and tree runs there. I love trees. Durp.

I'm also going to UB! HV has been my home for years. Parks get sicker every season. Pm me man always looking for a crew

For real? Damn, that's pretty awesome then. I remember when I was a freshman at Niagara and I wanted to join Schussmeister's, but it was only open to UB students and immediate family of them.

I dont know when kb is opening but they have been making snow for a while now. they have been posting stuff on instagram and they look like they could open really soon. Hopefully they will be ready to open by sometime next week.

Heres the link to their instagram:

does HV usually have anything set up on opening day? i called and they said no, but they are apparently gonna have the park and the rail park open

they said they will throw some rails in by mid day. AKA the park manager is a lazy bum and has been taking the last few days off

This. Honestly fuck HV. Vibe is terrible. People that work there in general dont seem happy. The "main crew" are douchers it seems. Like not a good vibe at all. Features are sloppy and park crew is lazy as hell. Peekn Peak crew put in a hell of a rail garden today for opening day. Open by noon. Such a good vibe all around and the park crew, many who I have become friends with, take their park very seriously and with a sense of pride. Always have a good time at Peek when ever I go.

I can definitely understand this, but I don't think it's that bad. I get tht the employees generally don't seem happy, but it isn't like I ever get any bad attitude from the people there. But, the park crew keeps up decent maintenance and rakes, but the park is unfortunately on one of the steepest runs there. The one problem I have is that they try to get all fancy and "creative" with their features, like this dumbass box with a 45 degeree diagonal slant. But they definitely do a lot of work that you don't see, like building all of the features. Plus the opening day set up was actually pretty decent. They had some decent rails and boxes set in.

I certainly agree on the steepness conundrum... foxfire is a horrid run for a park. the fall line is completely unusable. And, after that, its still too steep to have tight consecutive features. Then, straight to being flat. We should campaign to get it back on snoozer like it was 10 years ago. Morning star would be a decent pitch too.

Same goes for the rail park. its too flat to really hike most features. I really don't get their logic. END RANT
