13860111:schusson said:I talked to a buddy about these the other day, he went to the Salomon/Atomic HQ a few months back for a meeting about the new bindings. He's supposed to be getting a pair later this year and gonna let me test them and provide feedback. Supposedly going to blow Kingpins out of the water. They are a mix between a tech and alpine binding. They have pin capabilities for the uphill, but when its time to actually ski them, youre locked into the binding like an alpine toe. Elastic travel in both toe and heel so you dont have the same harsh ride as you would in a normal tech binding. Looks like a pretty solid system that they have been working on for quite some time.
13860130:.lencon said:It is basically Salomons version of what CAST has going on right now.
13860183:.MASSHOLE. said:So when you're in ski mode, does it require pin use at all?
If not, it sounds like you could do a CAST boot-mod and use an alpine boot.
I imagine onenerdykid will explain more once he is allowed to.
Edit:
I'll be curious as to if it is more metal or plastic. Pictures look like plastic. I imagine if it's metal it'll be quite heavy. If it's plastic, per usual there will be durability question marks.
Nothing will replace the satisfying snap of an FKS/Pivot 18 or STH16.

Maybe this is a new Ghost. Don't recall a black one, unless it's an older Ghost 110. But Jeremie Heitz doesn't strike me as someone who skis a 110.

Saw these on Cody's ig story yesterday. Definitely not the same boots as Jeremie is riding and they don't look like anything in the current lineup, so maybe Salomon is doing a bit of a revamp idk
hmmmmmmm

Think he has had em for a few seasons.

13863857:gapersarefriends said:It has gotta be him not wanting to ride shitty early season park and drag some hips instead
13863860:patagonialuke said:yeah but that is *not a hip-dragging carving ski. It has a stated weight of 1220 g for the 172. It's a full-on ultralight skimo ski. The only thing I can think of is that it's a proto park ski (88 mm waist would make sense) and that's just the top sheet they decided to put on it. But who knows.
13863825:.MASSHOLE. said:Oh I know, it looks like we'll have a press-release by Friday.
13863863:gapersarefriends said:Yeah i'm lost, i feel like you could still carve pretty good on a ar8 or whatever zero park ski he rides. Or an invictus. And fuck those are light
13863915:Broseph_Stalin said:If they were made with the same idea in mind that they made the other tracer skis I would be on that so fast. I see why it would be attractive, i appears to have a greater effective edge, less of that nose rocker and and more forgiving/ easier to release tail. Invictus is great and all, but if I wanted a full on groomer ski I would probably look to another company that has deep racing roots. That’s just the old man in me speaking.

As for the solly binding me and Lee Lau are working on the review so look out for that hopefully after SIA
13864240:.MASSHOLE. said:Changing their boots eh?
Are they still going to weigh a ton?
13864262:-SnowSnoli- said:25% lighter apparently. And the new alpine boot claimed to be lighter than a hawx ulta
13864269:.MASSHOLE. said:If it's replacing the pro, that'd make it, what, 1500 grams for a boot+liner?
If it's the regular boot, that'd make it, what, 1730 grams?
That top puts it on par with the MTN Lab, Zero G Guide Pro, and Hawk Ultra XTD.
13864278:-SnowSnoli- said:The replacement for the spyne 130 will be lighter than the atomic hawx ultra 130 not the xtd .
Don’t know about the pinnacle Though. It’s a hell a lot of weight they need to shave off
13863866:patagonialuke said:Yep. Expect a writeup from Blister Friday AM.
