Official Edelweiss 2011/2012 thread

^ that will probably remain true the entire season. cascade is the only one that even comes close to rivalling it.

You guys think they'll have a full park by February? Thinking of heading down after exams, but don't want to make the 3 hour trip if there's only gonna be one jump and a bunch of jibs...

we'll keep you updated. since they have zoomer open they'll probably start blowing snow for the jump line soon. I'd say beginning of february would be a good guess to have it open and ready

And again last night, there were 2 cats running all night in the park pushing around MASSIVE amounts of snow, and they'll be back at it today. I don't fully know what they have in store, but look for big things

Ok so I'm sitting on the lift after my 1st run, and there is nothing different from last weekend but the minipipe with sick rails on the side, and the stepup. The stepup is easily 2x as big as last year and they have TONS of snow on the jump line. It looks like the jump line will be easily ready for next weekend.

The gap is 2x as big but you don't go that high. And ya it is open. You land slow. IMO it was better last season

why exams now? and the setup, although not the "full" park, is a lot of fun right now. the step up is interesting because its relatively massive but you don't get a lot of height. its fun to just go big on though.

did anyone get told to buy a park pass today? we did, and when we went in, customer service said we didn't have to...

sorry dude mine always started on the 30th of jan. i thought that was the norm. but it's not a big deal ha

I bought mine today, yeah nobody was checking them today so I guess you didnt need it, but ill have it for later on.

Im still in HS, I graduated last year but im taking a victory lap lol. Need to get those marks up to get into brock.

and that sounds super fun, im actually kicking myself for not getting my pass to edel this year like i have for the past 3. Fuck im stupid.

I think im heading up monday or tomorrow night....or both. Anyone heading up?

If you see me i have a red jacket, teal pants, white helmet, ill be easy to spot beacuse ill be most liekly wearing a sling around my left arm....tore my rotator cuff.

talked to Kalen on Sunday and he said they were trying for this next weekend to open it up completely.

Nope but the groomers were going to work hard in the park yesterday. They are adding another lip to the step up (right now they have two options for take off, there will now be a third) they shaped out a jump after the step up. At the very start of the park they added some weird rail set up. Two single barrels that make the shape of an upside down L. Next they put it a flat box, followed by a tire jib and a barrel. They looked to be also making the step down and had some other piles of snow lyeing around.

I didnt get a super good look at this because it was dark and the park was closed so I had to peak through the tree's.

One thing is for sure, they are working hard to set up the big park and it looks like it should be ready in the next few days.

One of the jumps in the line looked basically ready. I only saw it from the chair but it looked pretty big, snowboard pop by the looks though. They also had some sweet features at the entrance, like this table top with a tire jib in the middle. Can't wait for it to open.

Updates? I heard they opened the pay park last night - how is it? And is it icy after the freezing rain and warm weather we had? I'm heading up tomorrow for some night skiing, and just wanna know what to expect. I'll probably be cruising alone, so come say hi if you see me! I'll be rocking a prism teal saga jacket and murda mystery pants with last year's atomic punx.

sorry completely forgot about that. but the park is starting to look awesome.

from top to bottom now from what I remember:

-weird rail setup with a rail perpendicular to another making an L

-flat box with butter box in landing

-tire bonk than can sorta be used as a small hip

-barrel

-10-15' stepdown

-stepup

-small step up to step down (what you call a table top?)

-long slightly up rail

-flat down

-corrugated culvert

-25ish' jump

-tire bonk

-flat rail

-dfd

-up box

-small jump at bottom

-wallride

No worries, had a fun day regardless. A wee bit icy though... huge bruises on both sides haha. Has anyone been hitting that 25' jump? I tried once and cased it, and nobody else seemed to be hitting it so I just decided not to try again...

I got it a few times. I had to straight air the step up and thing that said ouch on it. Still even when I got it good, was barely landing over the knuckle and not in the 'sweet spot'. I was to sketched to even throw a 3 or anything.

I was clearing it fine on Saturday. I either didn't stop after the step up (did some speed checking) or started from on the table top.

from when i was there on Sunday, also I'm not the best at gauging jump sizes :

closeout rail setup (L shaped rails)

flat box to butter box landing

long-ish tire bonk.

15 ft ish step down or tube

25 ft ish step up

40 ft rail

left line from here is:

rollover/start ramp

25-30 ft step over

40 ft step up

stair set with a down handrail and down box

ending step up jump

right line from above is :

flat rail or corrugated pipe

nicely set up DFD

tree bonk or nollie box to gap landing

down flat rail

c rail or down box with donkey dick

flat up down(?) or gap to flat box

wall ride
