That said, time for another upgrade. I entered a giveaway earlier this month and ended up winning, so I'm going to be getting a Profitec Pro 500 espresso machine, a Mazzer Mini E Type A grinder, a bunch of accessories, cups and some beans. Needless to say, I'm beyond stoked. Also, means I'm going to gift my current set-up to my best friend and his wife (who are huge coffee geeks as well, but don't currently have an espresso set-up).
Christmas for everyone! Ha ha

13768305:Auschie said:You talking their beans or the recipe? I haven't tried either but honestly the recipe probably tastes good considering you are loading coffee with fat and drinking it.
That being said don't be a sheep and buy into the whole nutritious breakfast replacement they market it as because really it's just a bunch of fat. You're much better off drinking a cup of black coffee with a veggie omelette and some toast.
13768555:Scotty_B said:Yea I was mostly concerned about the beans. I've tried the butter in coffee and that's pretty good but then he goes and adds this oil to the coffee and I have no idea wtf that's about. I was just curious as to the quality of the roast over other brands. Speaking of which if anybody has any brand recommendations I'm all ears.
13768558:Auschie said:I just always try to find a local roaster and either try some of their brews or just grab a bag and go for it. Where do you live? It seems like most areas these days have a few unique roasters that are pretty quality.
13767688:Auschie said:You press for 30 seconds? Shit. At that point I want my damn coffee and just press the shit out of it.
I do upside down
1 grinder full of beans (Hario mini almost full)
20 second bloom
Shake/stir
1.75 minute brew
Quick press
Water 45 seconds post boil

Still using the Rocket evo with the Mine E here, such a solid setup.

Yes, it was cold by the time I finished setting up and taking the shot.

13806937:Sklar said:I've had a keggerator for beer
13806964:Deepskier said:Thats tight I was thinking about installing something actually in the counter of course it would be a lot smaller than a full keg, but I could do a 3 row.
13806970:Sklar said:My only advice would be to buy nice parts, new. A janky setup is the biggest pain in the ass. Air getting into the lines = foamy pours = ripping your hair out.
I can imagine that coffee would be way easier than beer though.
13806979:Deepskier said:Lol I am playing it out in my head before I look into how much work it would be, but like I said a 3+ row would be cool, I could have cold brew, beer and kombucha.
13806992:Sklar said:That would be cool.
In my far far away dream home I'd love to have a multi-tap setup. I love the bar setups that have taps run through old pipes and stuff rather than boring silver towers.
Or you can go ghetto and turn a chest freezers into a keezer
13889650:DayMan said:ran out of coffee and I'm sad about it so I'm bumping this thread
13889655:OregonDead said:Oh no! My biggest fear and that's why I'm going to brave Costco after work to pick up another 6lbs of that Roger's Family Organic coffee.
13889660:DayMan said:Just bought a cup of black coffee from Starbucks and it's ass, definitely need to go pick some up tomorrow. I spend way too much at my local roaster but that shit is SO GOOD so it's worth it. The way I talk about coffee makes me feel like a crack addict but it's just coffee so..
13889745:strayln_Skier said:I heard the coffee is shit in the US.
13889766:mystery3 said:I haven't read through all fourteen pages of this thread but are any of you folks roasting your own beans?
I purchased a little diy roaster off craigslist for $100, it looks like a toaster oven but has a basket installed on a rotisserie thing. I'm trying to dial in temperature and timing. First go, actual fire, second go I yanked them out to early I think (nervous after the fire) and it brewed up pretty well except there's a very heavy earthy aftertaste, like dirt bite heavy. I'll probably fire it up again this weekend.
13889770:strayln_Skier said:Yeah nice.
Never roasted my own beans. I go to the local coffee shop and the bloke there sources different beans from around the planet and gets different ones in every month. He makes me a coffee, if I like it then i'll buy a months worth and so on.
13806979:Deepskier said:Lol I am playing it out in my head before I look into how much work it would be, but like I said a 3+ row would be cool, I could have cold brew, beer and kombucha.
13890197:Tinga said:This would be cool but pretty expensive. You'd need a dual regulator for the beer and kombucha and then a dedicated line for nitro.
13890282:Deepskier said:Oh for sure would only go in one or two of my million dollar mansions. For real tho never going to happen I still with the cases and cans chilling in the snow.
13910078:IsitWinterYet17 said:Costa Rica baby. They are recognized as having some of the best if not the best coffee in the world. I'm not talking that blend shit with a bunch of different beans in a pack bought at the grocery store. I'm talking buying straight from the farm. Shits good.
13910112:mystery3 said:Do you roast it yourself? I need to get back to playing with the roaster and am curious about other's experiences.
