The team needs a total rebuild from the bottom up. It's what they should have done last summer, but never quite fully did. Instead we're stuck halfway.
I really feel for Bobby Valentine though. I talk to him before and after almost every game, and he's a great guy. He's just in a terrible position where he can't change or say anything, with a team that simply doesn't want to play.
The big difference I see is that the success of the last decade upped how the red sox viewed themselves. They assumed they'd be successful no matter, and in my opinion, became too yankee-esque. The team got full of itself.
the red sox are supposed to be the anti-yankee in literally every regard. (except ideally, success.)
but on the plus side, the team is honoring Fenway's 100th Anniversary by playing like they have for so many of those 100 years: disappointingly terrible.
