Official 2010/2011 NHL Thread

what? even if i hadnt played hockey, and didnt know the rules, i would know that you youre not allowed to go in for a check way after the whistle...sedin got himself in that situation all by himself

looked more like he was going to just grab him like every scrum after the whistle because of the hit on ehrhoff. If you know anything about daniel it's that he doesn't try to throw big hits after the whistle.

haha I dont think marchand is much of a pussy bud...but I do know how the game works considering i've been a fan my whole life and have played for 5 years. nice try though.

very very very true... and sedin definitely got himself into that. he hit after the whistle so the bruins stuck up for him
lots of dirty stuff has gone both ways so i feel like everything is even truly... and i'm a bruins fan. i do also think that the bruins have figured out vancouver. the last 2 games when everything was very physical. they haven't been able to keep up. that will change in vancouver and it will be a close game. changes will be made.
both teams r very good teams thats why they're in the finals and within reach of the cup. Vancouver has more talent but boston has more team effort.
may the best 2 of 3 get the cup. its a 0-0 series now!

Run-on sentence alert: I kinda wish I had followed the Canucks all season, I am only cheering for them cause my dad likes them and we have family in and around Vancouver, cause after watching them for the last few rounds I am inclined to agree with the majority of the Bruins fans (not all cause some of you are retarded as fuck and I swear have never laced up a pair of skates in their lives). I would start cheering for the Bruins after all the good stuff I have seen pretty much all series but obviously that would make me look and feel like a HUGE bandwagon fan so not happening. But yea I think anyone here can aknowledge the Sedin's talent but holy fuck this is just frustrating to watch with all the shit their line pulls, grow the fuck up and stop disgracing the game. I would rather the Nucks lost playing fair than won playing like pussies.

And I don't see how any Nucks fan is getting mad about Thomas' slash and/or his check, those were hilarious. In Calgary we dont see many Boston games so I haven't seen too much of him over the last few years but he definitely is one of the most entertaining goalies to watch.

/huge rant

he goes all out all the time. he makes big saves like every game. his highlight reel from this season is like ridiculous, amazes me every time. he is so aggressive too. goes way out of his crease. he might give out rebounds but damn he makes the 2nd 3rd and sometimes 4th saves.
he is the best 38 year old tender to ever play the game... arguably of course

i wouldn't even go as far as to say the have more talent. Look at guys like Marchand, Seguin, Krejci, Lucic, Bergeron, all players 25 and under. Do the Canucks have anyone like that under 25 who contribute like these guys do? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the Bruins have much more "talent" than the Nucks do. Let's see what we can do to them in Game 5, shall we?

uhhh don't understand your age reference. tim thomas is the best goaltender in the nhl and he's 38. Recchi is 43 and still producing plays.

if you're reference is to that they still have careers ahead of them i can kind of see your point, just remember that injuries are a bitch. i don't think Bergeron can take too many more blows to the head before he's a vegetable.

but then again what do long careers have to do with a single series?

don't get me wrong, i'm a b's fan to the death. just don't be ignant.

my friend went to the bruins last night. his tickets were $600 a piece and they were the cheapest he could find. so jealous of him though

I agree with you in that the Bruins have more talent than people give them credit for, but I'm pretty sure vancouver has more talent than the B's. Although I think the Bruins make up for it with more heart and drive.. at least thats what it's seemed like recently and the canucks havent exactly been in top form

would have been stupid to not start him in a home game. however, if he plays like he has in the last 2 games i think we should go with schneider for game 6. And if we win that, stick with him for the game 7

you fail to see how that psychologically affects the players though.

the only reason their playing him in game 5 is due to the fact that if you're starting goaltender who's taken you all through the season and post season successfully is benched, it has a serious negative impact on the rest of the team.

Eh people have bad games all the time. He probably realized how shitty hes been playing. Hes definitely going to be looking for vegence in game 5.

That's not the only reason, Luongo has played insanely well at home and like you said you don't bench your goalie who has taken you to the stanley cup finals. The team needs luongo to get his confidence back and at home is the perfect place to do it.
Who ever wins next game wins the series imo.

im pretty nuetral with who i want to win. i like the canucks because they have lapierre but i also like the bruins because their team is way more og but they have chara whose a dumbass. im only saying this so it doesnt look like im a pissed off hardcore vancouver fan. anyways with that said does anybody think the refs were paid off? one of the players dad (im not a huge hockey fan so i dont know their names) is the big boss of the nhl or whatever. and tim thomas isnt exactly the best goaler, he falls everywhere after blocking a shot but the refs whistle even though the puck is loose? what do you guys think

kinda reminds me of tampa game 5 when boucher started smith over roloson. I think it sends a shitty message to the team. this is the dude that got you where you are today. with that said, loungo has to step up in a big way after those 2 losses. I mean a loss is a loss but it was pretty clear last night he wasn't playing his best.
tomorrow's gonna be a long ass day waiting for game 5.

Are you serious? Wow. Campbell's dad is in the upper echelons of the NHL an would have been on the board that decided the penalty for the Horton hit, but he resigned because he knew it was a conflict of interest. The refs haven't been paid off, and study up on Thomas, he is lights out

Marie’s full email to News1130:

I was fortunate enough to fly out to Boston to watch the Canucks play Boston Bruins in game #4 of the Stanley Cup Finals! What a treat for me! I am a 41 year old female that is 5.7 and around 128 pounds. I pride myself on being independent and safe when I am traveling! Never in my life did I think that the Boston fans would treat me in such a classless manner! The next thing I noticed about Boston was how the fellow Bostonians treated me. At first, I thought it was me being sensitive to my environment? Then, as the day progressed the reality of my feeling became factual. Yes, I was wearing my Canucks t-shirt in the city. I didn’t expect any negativity or animosity towards me because in Vancouver I believe we have been accepting and friendly towards those who are supporting the competition! The real shocker came when I was walking to the TD Gardens! A group of kids were walking around chanting “Go Bruins!” I was smiling and enjoying the moment. With my Luongo jersey on and some other Vancouver pins attached to my jersey, I did stick out to this group. One of the kids looked at me and told me to “#^&% off!” Then another kid told me to go back to Canada, while he started to run at me! I decided not to acknowledge these individuals! I also was aware of the dirty looks I was getting! One person came towards me and purposely bumped onto me! As I reached the Gardens, I kept getting verbally assaulted with comments directed about Luongo! again, I got myself into the arena as soon as I could. The staff in the arena were very welcoming and helpful! As I was walking to my seats, some teenager came into my personal space and tried to put his finger in my mouth! That was a sign for me to get to my seat and hope that the folks sitting around me would be nicer. Thankfully the guys sitting on the left of me were exceptionally nice and classy. The other fans were ignorant and as cold as ice! During the game the fans for Boston seemed to get more verbal towards some of us Vancouver fans! I was alone in a sea of Bruins! Once the game was over and I was leaving the stadium a number of very loud Boston fans were yelling derogatory comments about Lou! In their attempt to cause a reaction from me, I did not react! When I got out of the stadium I felt totally exposed and afraid for my well being! When I got back to my room, I was relieved! I have been waiting a very long time to go away and watch the Canucks play! When my dream finally became reality, I was so happy! Today, as I head back to Vancouver, I can honestly say that “I will not be coming back to Boston any time soon!” No matter what the outcome will be for the Canucks, I will always remain a Canuck fan! I can only hope that the Canucks win the next two games! As for the Boston fans that visit Vancouver, I will not ulter how I treat people in a humane and classy way. Go Canucks!

If the Bruins get an early goal next game. Luongo will just loose his mind and have ZERO confidence.

The only thing that Vancouver fans can hope for, is that he takes a shutout a long time into the game.

Go Bruins!

Hahaha dude you're obviously a little bias if you think the refs are paid off in favor of the bruins. The refs haven't been very good this series but both teams have suffered and benefited from this.

The refs don't whistle when the puck is lose and if they do its just a shitty call and it has happened to both teams.

And... yes, Thomas is the best goalie this year. And has proven it this series.

Are you 12? cause you kinda sound like it

It sucks to watch some of the players on your home team suck, but cheering for them being pulled/benched? Wtf? We've had plenty of players choke in many sports but I can't imagine cheering them being pulled.

Game 5 belongs to Boston.

You don't luck yourself to a second Vezina Trophy. (if he doesn't win this year there's something seriously wrong with the General Managers of the league)

When I was in the eighth grade, I got punched in the face in montreal after a game when I was wearing a bruins jersey. This is not out of the ordinary. The same shit happens everywhere, including in Vancouver.

To continue, I would like to invite this lady to go to a football match in europe where she's alone and rooting for the other team, holy shit. Those fuckers are crazy.

lol this is fuckin stupid. "I was alone in a sea of Bruins!" ya no shit bitch, what did you expect? you're IN boston. the fact that she was so shocked at that kind of response from the bruins fans on their home turf is unreal in my opinion.

and he's owning the shit out of vancouver with it. the reason tim thomas plays this way is due to the fact that he has some of the best defencemen in the league removing vancouver from getting rebound shots. when he's standing up and comes out of the crease, he cuts down the angles at which the shooter can take a shot thus making it more difficult to score.

if you watch the games you'll notice chara, boychuck and sidenberg are usually the first people to touch the puck if a rebound comes back out into the slot, and the b's usually break out and get a few odd man rushes when this happens

thomas playing aggressive ====> more offensive opportunities for boston, and a smaller scoring chance for vancouver.

like it or not, it's effective.

Exactly.

Canucks fans would behave quite similarly and I'm sure any male fan in the opposing stadium would have had it much worse.

I was in Seattle for Game 3 and some Bruins fans tried to talk to me after I'd spent $40 to watch us lose. Wasn't pumped needless to say when he started whining about being downtown in Vancouver at 2/3 am after game 2 and how he was being heckled.

No shit dumbass, and when I told him the same or worse would happen in Boston he doubted me (as if).

on the topic of not playing luongo- that's stupid, you don't bench a nasty goalie that has gotten you this far, it wasnt only his fault the canucks got ripped up the past two games, people don't score 12 goals in 2 games just by the goalie sucking. keeping luongo out would be stupid IMO
