i'd usually agree with you, but his downfall is he didn't play the entire playoffs. He has played great, and he does have a good shot at it, but because of him losing two games, and not playing in two, someone like Lindstrom, or Zetterberg may have a better chance of winning...who knows! they really should just give the award to the whole red wings team, it's hard to pick just one player. Especially when the D of Detroit has been the key component to why pittsburgh can barely score. Not so much Ozzie.
 
hahah yea i know, his hame just made for a catchy jingle. i still think he is in the top 3 candidates. i would pick Zetterberg, he's been stellar.
 
ugh, people everywhere are saying that penguins are the better team, just not performing right. Even Barry Melrose/ESPN. :\
 
I damn well know they're wrong but it bothers me where they don't give credit where it's due (Red Wings) and it's not good for the casual fans because now they think that the Penguins are the "perfect" team with nothing wrong with them and if something goes wrong against them, it's ok to get in a bitch fit because it has NHL's darling, Crosby..
 
Wow the 30 seconds of play before the penguins goal was amazing...and the goal itself...stellar!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. Pittsburgh had no business even being in that game, let alone getting the win! Fleury was the only thing that kept them alive.

Let's face the reality that this is only going to prolong the inevitable.
 
this has been true for both wins. face it, fleury is a better goalie than ozzy. Det's d is what wins them games!
 
Det D is fucking awesome but during the first couple periods last night the Pens were playing very well. Fluery held them in for sure though. That toe save was beauty
 
i dont think detroits going to have the energy to steamroll anybody after that game. the penguins should recover better than the wings, not to mention the games in pgh. its not like were the avalanche. and its gonna suck for detroit if malkin's line actually shows up to game 6.
 
The wings are like the energizer bunny man...they are old but they just keep going and going...

Look how they dominated the 1/2 half of the last game...they still can kill it.
 
I couldnt watch the last 4 minutes of the 3rd period. Everytime pitts touched the puck i just put my head down and prayed they wouldnt score. When they did, with 35 seconds left, i went nuts in my basement. Broke so many boxes. And when they scored in overtime i just stared at my t.v. for about 5 minutes.

Props to fleury though.
 
Colorado only really got steamrolled the last game i believe, if you look back the first two games were actually quite close, and unlike the penguins they didn't get shut out the first two games, they lost both by one goal.  And Fleury also isn't sick.  Jose Theordore was playing with the the fleu for all 4 games, and Statsny was out hurt, as was Foresberg, as was Foote, Clark, and Ryan Smyth for several games.  Budaj was also sick.  Sakic missed a game or two.  Selai, Liles, and Hannan all played game 2-4 with broken bones in there foot.  So yeah they were gonna lose.  

If any of you followed the Avalanche this season, you would know Statsny, Smyth and Sakic were out the majority of it, and there leading scorer Marek Svatos was out since mid Feburary.  

None of the Avalanche players made any excuses, and neither am I.  I still feel detroit would've swept them, but I really feel as if they would've been more competetive throughout the playoffs if they hadn't been so riddled from injuries.

Bruno and Leo were also playing somewhat injured.  So there is a big difference between the two series'.  Your not seeing the top 3 scorers and possibly 4-5 best players from Pittsburgh out on the ice with broken feet bones or a starting goalie playing with the flew.  And everyone knows thats why Theo didn't play well, go watch some highlights from the series he played against Minnesota.  He was incredible!

Its not gonna suck if Malkin shows up, he'll still be defended super well and kept away from the net well most the time.
 
hahaha dude that doesn't mean anything. doesn't matter how pretty the win was, a win is a win. good teams find ways to win, not lose.
 
the reality is detroit is a much better team. they just got robbed by outstanding goaltending at the other end of the ice.

but i agree with you. good team manage to find a way to win, and that's why detroit will win the cup. although right now, I could see it going into a game 7... that would really be something.
 
ya, penalties were 3-1 in favor of Penguins in all of OT, that's ridiculous, especially for a OT game with HUGE implications.

I can't blame them for the high sticking call though because it's ALWAYS a double minor if blood comes out, no matter what.

Blame new NHL rules for that, not the referees.
 
unfortunately, you're pretty much right. the penguins just aren't a good enough team to beat detroit. detroit is a fucking beast, i mean i'm a pens fan right down to the wire but i have no shame in saying detroit is just a better team. the pens are playing good, but i don't think it's gonna be enough. i think we're gonna win at home though. either way, pens made it further than i had first thought they would....
 
yea, he was physically bleeding, they showed him on the bench with a bloody rag.

I was just saying that if blood comes out, it's an automatic double minor. Although for some reason they never called a double minor (nor even a penalty at all) when Chris Drury got high sticked in the face and he was bloodied up in the Pens/RAngers series.
 
ya, it is pretty lame. 4 minutes because a poor little baby got bloodied up in a man's game. Ridiculous.

I grew up playing old style hockey too and watching the pros play a lesser version game is kind of disheartening.

2 goalie interference calls? your driving to the net, wtf are you supposed to do? bullshit.

it's crappy that we have to win it away now, or potentially game 7. i'm not too worried about it though, just watching the games we outright dominate the pens. fleury got lucky. were the better team and we'll win, it's just a matter of when.
 
Last time I checked, Detroit was winning the series 2-0 with 2 stunning shutouts. So I have been without any internet in the jungle for the past 6 days, and I just got into the Lima, Peru this morning for my flight back to the states... only to find the series is 3-2 Wings. I have basically been watching highlights and reading play by plays from the last 3 games all afternoon. I have never been so pumped in my entire life. This shit is coming back to the burgh for game 6, and I am actually going to be here for it.

This is how the series is supposed to be. Two great team battling hard. Games being decided by one goal. The pens basicallly shot themselves in the foot the first two games with being outplayed, outcoached, and sub-par goaltending. But they have definitely stepped it up. Crosby has been putting the puck in the net, and setting up shop making plays, and MAF has apparently made a complete 180 from tripping falling out of the gate in game 1. Although Malkin has still been sort of a phantom even though he set up that Sykora goal in OT 3.

The Pens have a tough mountain to climb but it surely isnt unobtainable.

i was right in front of the net we were so close to scoring if it had been 5 inches higher it would have been in. Detroit deserves it but the pens deserve some credit their young and dont have much experience and to stick with Detroit is pretty impressive. good season pens. and so much for detroit "steamrolling us" assholes..

Despite terrible officiating and the Pens putting up a HUGE battle, the Red Wings persevered and are the champs! Well deserved! SOOOOOO happy the Pens didnt win! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Crosby is crying a river right now...
 
goddamnit that third goal was so painful to watch. i have to give credit to detroits pk, if we score on either of those two 5 on 3s its a totally different series. detroits defense also turned the penguins from a great third period team to a shitty third period team. 1 shot in the first 15 mins of the third damn.
