Ottawa fan here, now that our season is basically over, I am backing MTL and Calgary.

Pens fans, don't get too excited. An AHL team could have beaten the sens this post-season. You guys really aren't that different from last year, except Gary Roberts is older and you have Hossa (who, BTW disappears when the going gets tough).

As soon as the Pens meet someone who actually play the body your team will fall apart. a Pens/Flyers re-math would be superb.

Alright actually, can't win them all. The habs were just off their game a little bit. Look at that game winning goal, at best they just got lucky. The bruins bearly got more shots on goal. I will say it would be nice to have Koivu back soon.
 
A Pens flyers matchup is highly unlikely.

Pens vs NY or NJ

or

MTL vs. NY or NJ

Pens vs. Washington

Philly would have to somehow beat montreal.
 
^Meh, it isn't that bad. There's never been any intense Sens vs. Habs rivalries that I've heard of. And I live right near Ottawa on the Quebec side, around here you get it but it's really not that bad.

Av's have experience, Wild got 2 wins for playing good, but experience in goal and on D will carry the av's further than the wild, plus 4 solid lines w/ 3 solid d pairs, Wild have 1 and a half good d pairings, and 2 lines....Av's can run them down. Theo is playing well...I dont know if they can hold up tonight I say they take the next 2.
 
i hate how vs. shows the avalanche game and then its blacked out here in co. i have to listen to the sharks game on the internet
 
dude you are nuts man. pens will dominate whoever they play. the team is playing intensity and as one super organized and setting up plays. when ottawa was playing with intensity we just over came it an beat them... ottawa is a good team they have pretty much all there stars back, alfredson is back and playing again and shit. he got shut the fuck down.
 
I'm not so wild about the Pens but they really are the best offensive team in the east. Against N-Y or N-J in the 2nd round it wont be that easy because they got amazing goalies but they should get trough 2nd round and meet the Habs in the east finals.
 
Really classy play by Minnesota. They couldn't keep up with the Avs all night so they just take cheap shots and starts fights after the whistle. It makes me feel all that much better by humiliating them with a 4 goal lead. The Wild looked like a team that didn't belong last night.
 
That was a sweet game last night. If the flyers keep playing like that...Flyers to the next round. I'd love to see them go all the way but I don''t think its gonna happen.

you wanna talk classy?? at least the wild players went after guys their own size. unlike laperriere and mccloud who went after the smallest guys on the wild team. big props to veilleux who stood up to laperriere and actually swung a few times even though he was outweighed by more than a few times. the refs didn't help much either - some of those calls were the worst i've ever seen in my 21 and a half years of existence in the state of hockey. it's been a decent series so far and hopefully continues to be. both sides had their "unclassy" moments, not just the wild.
 
Ha, thats a riot! The Wild started pretty much every fight on the ice. So I guess Minnesota's version of going "after guys their own size" means pulling cheap shots like cross-checking someone from behind into the boards? They got their asses handed to them, and instead of actually manning up about it, they decided to pick fights like a bunch of little schoolyard bitches. All their retarded thuggery did was bury them under more goals.
 
I think the pens playing Ottawa seriously hurt their chances. I mean for such a young team most have still yet to face grind it out play off hockey. They don't really need the extra rest as far as I know they have no injuries so I could see them coming out very flat against whomever in the second round.
 
Detroit is gonna lose round 1 yet again to another number 8 seed....edmonton anyone? oh wait Anaheim too? It takes more than a regular season to win the cup....number 6 seeds in the East and West could take the cup! Red Wings better get it together quick!
 
How come every season the east seems to be dominated by one particular team, and yet, the west is some kind of crazy ass battlefield. hell, just 2 years ago an 8th seed emerged in the west, and not a seed higher than 5 advanced the the 2nd round. it was ridiculus...

After the shelling they put on Calgary tonight, I think this could be a true possibility... especially if we can go into the saddle and win game 6

I'm excited for saturday, thats for sure!
 
except that they almost always lose to 8 seeds in the playoffs. Its one thing to play a good regular season, its another to perform in the playoff. honestly if they do beat nashville, they wont get past the Sharks/Calgary, Avs/Minny, and Dallas, i mean comon Ducks are dead on water. But anyways, The way all these teams are playing now...no chance. Not to mention HUGE goaltending in Calgary, San Jose and Colorado. Theo has been clutch for CO, 40 shots tonight and put 38 aside. Go watch some of the game replays and see the saves he's making, It could be argued he's the hottest goalie right now! I would've said Carey Price before until tonight. Everyone knows Goalies are huge in the playoffs.

Another reason why Detroit won't win the cup this year, is look at the team they're playing, a team that only made the playoffs cuz the canucks started sucking.
