Offical 07-08 Big Mountain Thread.

word t-money. i'll be home this weekend so i'm planning on doing it... i'm assuming we will be able to hit the big side?
 
I don't know. If it is going to be soft, yes, but I am not hitting those jumps again until they are slushed out, which they haven't been since last Saturday.

They are fun, but the landings are bit flat and the takeoffs a bit poppy for hard days.
 
If its like last year, the pro comp will be on the big side and the am and little kids will be on the small side, and like dave said I might not do it if it icy and hard but we just got some snow so it should be kind of soft
 
I definitely won't be doing it, as I would like to ski with a couple of friends while I am home, and they need the afternoon to do some things for prom. Lame.
 
And if anyone wants to help build the step up, meet us at the bottom of 1 at 3:50ish, and bring a shovel and head lamp or flashlight.
 
Head lamp or flashlight? That's crazy Dave, good to hear you're keepin things rollin' at the Big.
 
So the Inspo step up is built, and Travis has already lincolned it. Kid is nuts.

And for those who don't know, there is anywhere from 1-2 feet (yes, feet) all over Big Mtn at the moment, and it is completely gnarwhals. I was choking and got the powder burps.

I saw numerous NS people up there today, word for saying hi, and nice skiing with you guys. If you come out to Hood or WA before the end of the year let me know.

And if someone wants to dig it out, the step up should still be there.

Yesterday was a good last day up on the Big. Unfortunately they had to close, but I have a feelin there will be lots of hikin up there this spring.
 
This would be really sick if it is true, but I highly doubt it. On the last day they were taking down all the rails and stuff.
 
hiked friday, and bighorn and blackbear were awesome. front was slushy.

talked to a-rob and i guess there is a film shoot going down on big mtn sometime this week, but ONLY the people under k2s 5 mil insurance policy are going to be allowed to hit the jump. also talked to some people that were on the big mtn park crew that i saw over the weekend at blacktail, i guess the jump is supposed to be around 75 ft. Silly Sally just called me and said he went up and checked it today and basically the pushed all the snow from everything else to were the biggest jump was and it looks pretty big and kind of sketch at this point- as in if you didnt have the right speed youre fucked. anyhow, he thought it looked like it could be done by tomorrow, so ill probly check it out in the next day or two, tj might hit it when no one is around, and ill think about it. but yeah ill try to get some pix when i go up.

Biolo was hitting it and he said is first hit he over shot by like 40 feet, he dident really get hurt, but he dident hit it anymore
 
I hiked up yesterday and took some pics. The first two or three hundred vertical feet are dirt, but there is SO MUCH SNOW on the back. It looks like you could ski the whole way down on 7.

I realized that hiking down the mountain kind of sucks with ski gear, but the hike was worth it. I didn't really have enough energy to take laps on the back, but there are many laps to take back there. Also, a security guard said at the end of the day that dogs need to be on leashes, so if anyone takes their dog up there, make sure it's on a leash at least until you're out of sight. It was a nice hike up there, and I might try to go again sometime if anyone is interested.

 
If by being emo I could ski as well as Alex, that's the sound of me out the door for some black hair die, tight jeans and straight razors.

The beginner skiers have so much terrain to ski it is ridiculous. What a bunch of cheap fuckers.

Plus season passes are now 535, they keep going up. Fuck maybe I will save my money for a new snowmobile instead.
 
GAH! A 40 ft. wide quater pipe! that's stupid, no one likes quater pipes

I can understand cutting the super pipe due to funding, but not armory. they finally figured out how to build good jumps last year on the big line. Bummer they have to stop.
 
Pipe I can do without. But killing the large jump line?

Last season was the best park I've ever seen at Big Mtn. They finally dialed in some fun, decently large jumps that made the ones at Snoqualmie look like they were built by third graders with avi shovels.

It wouldn't be as much of an issue if the sidecountry were better for yo-yo laps and there was a plethora of jump spots for large BC kickers, but we don't have either at Big Mtn.

I expect a lot of overshooting this year. And "big-air" comps on 20 ft tables.

But there is good news: aside from the full page ads in Freeskier and Powder, we survived the reviews completely under the radar. Which bodes well for less people. Another year of no exposure at Big Mtn. Raise your glasses to fresh tracks, my friends. *clink*
