I was contemplating this the other day as well. I saw this very overweight couple with their incredibly overweight kid. The kid was literally 100 lbs, at least, and couldn't have been older than 10. They, in the time I was around them, both complained the stairs that they had trouble getting up. They, obviously, have a more difficult life because of their extreme obesity and clearly realize that it's because of their weight. Why, in such a case, do parents fail to realize that they did something wrong when it comes to their weight and transfer these terrible habits, trips to fast food restaurants, etc, to their kids. Do they not realize that their lives suck, to a certain extent, because they're fat, and that it won't be any different for their kids? I understand that they, evidently, lack an understanding of proper eating habits and such, but what prevents them from thinking to themselves, "we are overweight, it makes life difficult, let's change something so that our kid doesn't have live a similarly shitty life."
