Obama encourages kids to succeed, conservatives protest...

ok, im going to say this, but, people are going to jump down my throat so i doubt i will be back.

the idea of the President talking to the kiddies doesnt disturb me. the thing that disturbs me is the president that is talking to them, at least in my OPINION, has a track record for pushing his policies and ideology like he is on the campaign trail EVERYWHERE he goes. that just kinda scares me but its probably misplaced.

and one thing, if he does bring up healthcare, or anything else when talking to the kiddies...... the relationships to Hitler are going to spring up even more.
 
Ok, Glenn Beck and others that are pissed about this are just jumping the gun. True, this is not something that usually happens and can be used to advance poltical views to children, but I highly doubt that will happen. Obama is smart and knows that if he does that, it will be terrible for him and the liberals.

I think its stupid to judge a speech and get pissed at a speech that hasnt happened yet. Wait and see what is said. Odds are, it will be nothing other than a standard stay in school and learn type of thing (like the president going to a school to read to children on a larger scale).

Its a win win for conservatives. If he says something stupid, it allows people to see his politcal ideals and views more easily. If he sayss what he's supposed to, children learn and we are better off for it.

No point in getting all worked up for something that hasn't happened yet.

This video, however, that was shown to kids in Utah, is terrible.

Im pretty sure this wasnt released by the whitehouse, but this video has no place in schools (this is not what is going to be shown to students next week, just something related).

it does bring one good point is that showing this during school hours does bring the parent out of this and I think that is worth discussing.

I think what a lot of this shows, is that people have lost trust for obama and the government(if they had it in the first place). Im pretty sure if Bush had done this, we would see a similar action from the liberals, but with how fast government has changed and grown since january, I dont blame parents for being overly concerned about the things Obama might say to their kids at school when they can not be there to take part in the situation.
 
To me it's more of a significant case of overreaction. There's one simple way to put this. People are going to look through the ideal message and pull out all of the most ridiculous, asinine things they can because of the simple opposition of his political ideology (and his skin color for some). Oh my god we must stop the proliferation of these political ideals he is forcing on our children! The real sad thing is that if the media hadn't picked this up and marketed it like the evilness that they portray it to be, we wouldn't be discussing this issue. The inner destruction of the intelligent human being is triggered by these soulless people spreading this bullshit throughout the nation.

I was hoping there would be a little more open mindedness on this topic but the sheer fact that NS never seems to impress me on political issues shows yet again. The people disagreeing with this are either acting on their subconscious political bias or subconscious racism. Had this been McCain, the people that are complaining now would have said nothing or maybe there would have been a small polite request to rewrite the "helping the president" part. Liberals would be in the same boat, picking out the details on how this is "corrupting" our children.

The sheer fact that people are ripping this apart shows the demise of the US political system in our sociological network. It is pathetic that people are furthering this cesspool of stupidity. Sit down and explain to your children why you think this is bad. Don't let a political campaign, fundamentalist religion, or media conglomerate control how this issue should be thought about by you or your children. Sit down and explain why you think this is harmful to them. The best part about children is they are the most unbiased people on this earth. They don't care the president is black, or a liberal, or wants to give everyone free healthcare. They also don't care that their parents may be liberal pro-choice freaks or conservative fundamentalist Christians. Besides kids that watch this won't even remember it. The attention span of today's kids won't allow more than the first 5 seconds to register in their mind.

Please, remember USA today is pretty left wing, and they (liberal news media) commonly take glenn beck, rush, and all of them out of context, and they misquote them very frequently. Im thinking this wasnt the case this time, but people keep getting opinions about glenn beck from articles like this and threads about communism, and I think to have a fair opinion on them, you should at least watch the show and at the very least, watch the clips of the show, not just a small quote, believe it and call it that. The same goes for conservatives. Its just basic research.

i didnt see the show yesterday/the other day, but he's talked about it before.

His main point was just to point out that the artwork in the Rockefeller center was facist and done by a facist artist. I mean, theres a small connection there, but nothing of merit to talk about more than a short talking point for a minute. I mean, Glenn certainly is not starving for material(I could have talked an hour with all the articles and research I did for 10 minutes today) He can/should do better than that. There is so much material to talk about. I wish he could go from being crazy glenn, back to the funny/less serious glenn(if you listened to his radio show before he got on tv on CNN, you can prob agree, no matter what your political views, that his show was very funny and entertaining, and a lot lighter on political content).

my problem with this would be exactly whats happening now. the masses that would be screaming "well i dont want my kid hearing that n___ socialist, regardless of what he has to say".

they wouldnt care if all obama was saying was, "stay in school, dont do drugs, work hard." theyd be putting on tinfoil hats to protect themselves from his socialist brainwaves.

I personally do not care if he speaks to the schools or not. he is the president, he can do whatever he wants. As long as he doesn't push his agenda (which i do not see happening), it is ok.

I would hope that Obama would be smarter than to talk about anything other than what he is suppose to. If i was still in school i would be pumped to be able to watch the president. Most kids do not even know what politics mean until, maybe, high-school. I did not get into politics until probably 11 grade, i was too concerned with partying and skiing, let alone what my future held politically.

I've never heard of kids being pulled out of class to watch a speech though, haven't most kids already seen him on TV 100 times already anyway?

Secondly, if you all want to defend how intelligent he is, how do you explain the anomaly of the academic records? Didn't mention a word about Glenn Beck in my post and like I said the media. I wasn't pointing at conservative media or liberal media. Both are very biased in my opinion. As I said, both would react if either party were president.
