NS slang and definitions

Being a newbie, I'm looking for your help in creating a list of NS slang terms and their definitions...like butter, skeeze, grom, etc. Creativity with definitions is appreciated.

noob=one who inquires about slang words so he/she does not use them wrong and look like a noob.

Example: That noob just got pwnd, what a noob

nose butter

-skeeze is a magazine run by K2

-steeze is style

-a butter is when you pivot on the tips of your skis, or less specifically, any time your leaning far down on your nose.

-a grom is basically just someone young who rips, but it doesnt mean much here because most people here would be considered groms, but they won't admit it, so you dont hear it much

-gaper, gayper, any other play on the term is someone who doesnt have style

-t-wall is tom wallisch, learn to love him, or you'll be in trouble

Love the Tanner hall part thats great, and you really do have to follow that rule if not some one will probably kill you lol

some more definitions:

t-hall is tanner hall - god of super pipe, husky mountain man, he has been called many things

t-wall is tom wallisch - he won supeunknown, is sick on rails and has all of newschoolers up his butt.

FFL - fantasy freeride league - the same as fantasy football, but with skiiers, get top ten, win great prizes. You can check it out on freeskier.com, but its too late to do anything

SSE - skier stock exchange - similar to ffl, but on newschoolers. Skiers have stocks, like companies, you buy and sell. The stocks go up and down as skiers do well/ not.

i want to add that steeze comes from skateboarding and means style with ease and a gaper is a skier dress in a neon one piece suit that has the gaper-gap (gap between helmet/hat and goggles) and does the gaper huck (where you stick your poles straight up in the air)

ya, because i had no idea until a little while ago

- a pretzel is when you spin onto a rail one way, then the other way out. It doesnt really count unless you 270 out

- an ollie is pretty much the same as on a skateboard, you lean back on your tails and then pop forward into the air; you can get higher than then just hopping.

- switch and fakie mean going backwards, cab means you start a spin backwards

- pretty obvious but:

- 3 = 360

- 5 = 540

- 7 = 720

9, 10, etc.

- a zero spin is when you take off switch, don't spin, and land, a straight air is not a zero spin.

huck-to jump

booter-jump

pow pow- powder

freshie-new snow

so now put it into a sentence

i am going to ski the new freshie and huck the bootwr that i made out of pow pow

For all the "noobs": Willem_um_C: Also known as Willem Collier is the best member on NS, every post is very serious and well thought out, he obviously slays because his videos are sick, and most people love him. No personal messages please.

Another important word: Slay: Meaning kills it or holds it down or is fucking good.

Also there is a member named *Hurty*, probably the best skier on the whole website, his backflip pole passes are a force to be reckoned with.

Sarcasm: A beautiful part of newschoolers. www.m-w.com for more info.

for exampel: raise your right leg over your left leg and notice that your legs are crossed. just like mute but your skis aren't crossed but your legs are. u can do scremin seamens in air(laurent favre did scremin seamen 3' in xgames).i dont know if the name is still scremin seamen if u do it on ground or rails tho...

dope - absolutely awesome.

sick - as above.

killed it - as above but often used to refer to how well yhou landed it

hit the deck - on a pipe, you hit the "top" of the pipe i.e. the flat bit, it fucking kills and will destroy your knees.

to put it in to a sentence:

oh that's awesome; that skier's dope !!! Did you see that alley-oop ? it was sick ! not like that last guy he hit the deck hard !

BUMP

People use it to 'bump' up their thread to the top to get more responses. You really should avoid this because usually a good thread will be answered to. However, for specific questions that you think someone will know the answer, or maybe you think the title is misleading or whatever, you can use this on your own thread or anothers.

Some believe it to be an acronym as in Bring Up My Post.

okay, lets not argue where Steeze comes from, there will never be a definitive answer, add to that that there are disputed meanings for the word, I personalty thing it is Style with Ease (the popular opinion) but ppl have other ideas,

I'm also going to add to the list (if someone hasn't already).

STOKED - the word I overuse, it means really excited about, ready to do something.

i.e.

I'm really stoked about skiing on Thursday, I can't wait!

searchbar: the funny little thing in the top left hand corner that you use before you make another pointless thread to pollute ns with, also used to prevent getting flamed

mines on the right hand side...

I think this thread is pretty sweet, sorry if you've seen one before but obviously few ppl have. Stop the hate.

cab means switch and an unatty (un-natural spin. if one spins left, a right spin would be unatty) spin.

Once agian who the fuck wants to start putting names to combos?

Lets just start calling shit random names

NS cunt fucker - 270 on 270 out

Tiara - 270 on swup 450 out!

Twall - Daffy to Kang late 180

Paint can - nose tap to front side 270 out*

Crack pipe - hand drag 360

* back side is panit canS

ahh yea, thats a really cool trick, reminds me of the

triple fuck-up to stoned hampster reversal.

but I have to say, I think there are wayyy too many names for tricks, I expect it could all be simplified... but that will never happen, we will just get more tricks and more names...... oh well, I'll run with it, a couple more names to learn wont put me off the best sport in the world.

turkish delight- when your in pow and you hit a pillow expecting it to be full of white fluffy snow but instead you hit rock. refer to Gnarnia for full definition of turkish delight
