NS Poll Time: What do you define as a gaper?

So ive noticed more and more NS'ers calling people that i would not define as a gaper, a gaper. IE anyone who isnt on twin tips wearing XXL is a gaper.

so NS, who do YOU consider a gaper?

anyone who yells "backflip!!!" from the lift when he/she sees a cork and does it without any sarcasm

1. Someone who looks and dresses like they should be pro and ride through park and do nothing. (Ultra Gayper)

2. Someone who brags to everyone in a snobby way that they are really good but are actually completely terrible. (Mega Gayper)

3. (Cool gaper) Someone who is pretty bad, has a gaper gap and not too knowledgeable about the sport but is just having a good time.

4. Someone who races and hates anyone else who doesn't race. (Racer gaper)

5. Someone who dresses like a gaper but kills the park. (Disguise gaper)

6. Someone who try's to look for things to get you in trouble. (fag)

i know so many of those braggy kids god damn. this kid at my school who snowboards thinks he can do chads gap, another fat kid says he can do double cork 7's and yet another snowboard fag also claims he can do a double cork 7 but makes excuses when apporached and cant spin a 3

i dont kill it by any means at alll. i stay out of people way and give props on sick stuff. now at least once a year i done my sick ass mental spike hat and my snowblades and gape it the fuck up. but they way skiers are now.. i kinda gape it a little bit. but no gaper gap at all.

Someone with very little skiing experience or skill that has no idea what they're doing.

Or people that ski for reasons other than having as much fun as possible or don't enjoy skiing and are seen complaining about it on the mountain.

people with rental skis, people who take pics standing on the lips/knuckles of jumps or on a box. people who dont know how to get down a groomer without falling, a person who asks " can you backflip?" a person who skis skis from the 70's on a regular basis, a person wearing a snowmobile jacket while skiing, and a person who thinks the craziest thing you can do is 'bomb' a black diamond.

i.e. this kid.

If they are having fun, they aren't a gaper.
That being said, I do not approve of being a moron in the park.

And to those of you who say that people that yell "backflip" from the chairs are gapers, why do you watch skiing edits? Very hypocritical.

Gapers are people that suck at skiing, I don't give a shit about gapers, they're fine by me

Posers, on the other hand, are people that suck at skiing, despite their Saga suit, FT's, and Crowbars. They make me wanna punch a baby.

A gaper is anyone who posts a thread asking what NS members think a gaper is.

Haha, joking

(na, not joking)

(na, actually joking)

but not

Yeah, what he said. And it is a extra when they are 12 year old's that weight about 60 pounds, come up to your waste, have a bandana covering their face, a shirt that looks like a skirt, and a pair of pant that are down to their knees and look like they took a big dump in them!!

Then they come on here and brag about all the cool skis, boots, and clothes mommy and daddy bought for them

not really gaper but they annoy me so much; ppl who are beginner parkrats with baggy clothing and twins; making outrageous claims, sitting on landings, snaking other peoples run, sidejumping kickers for rails, rolling over lips, laughing at ppl who fall while they actually try something, and to top it all off, these are the guys that have like the worst skiing technique of the whole mountain...
i just hate these kids >:(

ths. except i wouldn't consider 5 to be gaper, just some body who doesn't care about fads or can't afford to drop bank on a bunch of stuff just to be cool

Sorry to stray but is this normal at mountains? Like, getting tickets and stuff? Maybe my local mountain (and every mountain I've ever been to) is weird, but that is total bullshit.

^ haha brian dude hittin' the grindrail is a gaper.

Gapers are people who really suck at skiing. They are fun to laugh at but i really don't mind them unless it is those gaper kids who ride through the park skiing off the side of the on ramps for rails and boxes and their asshole parents who think that's cool.

Just anyone who has no clue what they're doing. You can spot them a mile away just by how they carry their skis

This is a real thought provoker....I've had to ski with people who are staying with my parents, they are normally super-gapers, they are either skiing for the first time or had very little experience.
But most are all willing to try stuff cut off piste, little jumps and some of the kids really improve and could probably be quite good given the chance. They guys that are enjoying it, trying new stuff, learning and improving. This is the 'best' kind of gaper.
Because we've got a stash here we get a fuckload of gapers cutting through it. THese guys are the worst. They think they're good so show off by hitting boxes straight on, jumping the kickers on boxes and rails and not abiding by any park ettiquette whatsoever. It's dangerous how some of them ski, they cut up people, stand on landings and generally just cause a nusance (sp?). A friend of mine was stopped at the side of the run suddenly one of these gapers flys innto her and she was in a pretty bad way, nothing broken but it took her a while to get up. So while she's rolling about in pain on the floor i walk up in front of the feature to stop anyone else crashing into her. I put my skis in a cross( at this point we thought she was injured badly) 4 different gapers either went into me or my skis. I think people who don't really think or understand park or even piste ettiquette are the worst.
I've started to think that being a gaper isn't about how many X's there are before your L, (if there even is an L) or whether you can or can't ski very well, but instead it's more about not blasting about completely out of control putting other safety at risk, cutting people up and skiing in places way to hard for your ability, i.e park, off piste, stash etc...
Gapers are people who don't understand skiing or snowboarding and people who are Gapers on the Mountain, are normally 'Life Gapers' too.

Am i gaper: blue and grey quiksilver jacket.white oakley pantscrowbars with persimmon lensesi can 270 out of boxes but not railsi cant do a 3

I just think that most people on this site try way to hard to look trendy/cool. Sorry if you don't like my opinion but that's the way I feel.
