NS Poll Time: What do you define as a gaper?

i change my answer. wikipedia says "A gaper is a stone head, often depicting a black man, on the front of a building in the Netherlands." so it must be true.

Gapers are people who don't understand skiing or snowboarding and people who are Gapers on the Mountain, are normally 'Life Gapers' too.

agreed...its all about respect for others not the way you look

 
ill probably call someone who's "thugged out" and cant ski for shit a gaper in a fun way.

snowmobile jackets or carharts are also = instant gaper.

but i dont really have anything against this type of gaper. we were all gapers at one point. and if you are a gaper that is trying to learn, be respectful, etc. you then have my respect.

BUT.....

on the other hand, some people are full on JONG'S those people are people who A suck at skiing, think they are hot shit, make sure you know they are hot shit. and B are just a general nuisance to be around.
 
I think some people are confusing park rat posers with true gapers here. In my mind a gaper is someone new to skiing who doesn't really have a clue, from how they carry their skis, to wearing stupid clothing, to hitting the jumps next to rails and thinking they are the shit. These gapers are not neccessarily a negative thing, everyone enjoys mocking them, and the revenue they bring into town allows more people to live in the mountains. I was a gaper once, I am pretty sure that I'm not any more.

Park rat posers are people who have good gear, but a bad attitude. Just because a kid has good gear but no skills doesn't mean they deserve hate, the same for people that can't make a turn outside the park. Either way, they aren't gapers.
 
i don't mind people you can't ski. een those who are trying to ski. its those people you hate off the hiil. noobs and people who talk themselves up without any proof. and then make excuses as to why they suck so bad instead of just admitting it. most gapers are actually harmless but they are just incredibly annoying. they can at times be dangerous if they get anywhere near a park. they cut people off, look like idiots and "BOMB" the park. its annoying and dangerous. I tend to look at the more sane gapers as people we all know we were at some point. except these ones have grown up and can be kinda dumb. so we use them as entertainment.
