Ns pick me a dog!

if i was to ever get a dog. it would be one of these... perfect size and can hunt and swim.... and they look good to boot as well

 
it can, i live in the country, but i wanted it to live in the house (hence why i want a dog that hardly or doesnt shed).
my favorites so far are blue heeler, mimi english bulldog, and corgi. havent researched much about them yet though

corgis are sick, one thing you need to be prepared for is that they are actually quite strong-willed and stubborn and can be a little hard to train if you're not an assertive owner. i believe they were originally bred to be some sort of herding dog or something. they are my favorite dogs though, super fun to play with. really energetic little guys
 
dude you gotta go to a local dog shelter and adopt a dog. if you have ever been there, you'd know that all those dogs NEED a home. ive had 3 amazing dogs in my life, all of them from shelters.
just go to a shelter at least to see all the dogs, its (normally) free and easy and is truly the best thing you can do!
 
YUP, 2 OF MY 3 DOGS WERE ADOPTED.

THEY ARE USUALLY FAR BETTER BEHAVED THAN PUREBREADS, AND TRAINING IS USUALLY EASIER.

WE TRIED TO GET ANOTHER ADOPTED ONE BUT WE COULDNT FIND ONE THAT FIT OUR NEEDS SO WE ENDED UP GETTING A PUREBREAD.

IF you can handle a huge dog, St. Bernard hands down. otherwise i'd go with a beagle for a smaller dog.
 
This. Such mellow dogs, love snow, love going along for hikes. basically a total kick ass dog. and as puppies they are just little fluffy balls running around-soo cute, additionally they are easy to train and love people.
 
labradoodle. i have one and he doesn't shed at all, soft, extremely friendly and always stoked. i seriously have never seen my dog not stoked. he gets along with pretty much all dogs except he's scared of some haha

when you decide what type of dog you want you should look up thier rescue foundation. i found two of my dogs by rescuing them, you feel so good plus you get a cute dog.

this is my dog winston who was beaten and abandoned then put in a shelter where they held about 30-40 other dogs but when we first brought him home from the shelter. he had that grin on his face for a straight week. just an option but i highly recomend adobting rescues
 
Rottweiler. Train em while they are young. Extremely protective dogs.

Meet LJ. Hes a 14 month english bulldog. He's a G.

Which ever breed you choose. Make sure you research as much as you can. Energy levels, dietary needs and genetic health issues should really make a difference with you choice.

A dog with a place in the pack is happy dog.
 
A VIZSLA! Only if you're active though... they like to run. This is my Vizsla puppy named Maya:

She is the best :). She was a little tough to train at first (because she's hard to get mad at because of how cute she is), but then we got her a crate (an open one so that she can see like this one:

) and she's great now! She's VERY loveable and gets along well with both people and other dogs.
 
If it has to be a tiny dog, Shiba Inus are cool and it's almost like having a fox.

If it can be a little bigger, I'd go Olde English Bulldog- slightly taller, more athletic and stronger than an English but still with the bulldog face and wrinkles but more snout. I had one and he was the coolest dude ever.

If you can go bigger, I am very partial to Akitas. Great personalities, super smart and ultra strong. Just lots and lots of shedding.

If you can go horse-sized, go landseer Newfie. Coolest dogs ever if you have the room for them. Never met one that wasn't awesome.

But as always, check your local shelter first. So many awesome dogs that need your help there at a fraction of the cost.
 
Dogs are like people some need/want to get outside more than others. Newfs arent huge high energy dogs and mine is content to lay under the swamp cooler most of the day. Newfs are water dogs its what they were bred and live for although mine is almost as content to go to shriners hosptal and dole out kisses to sick kids. and giant is a realitive term but 200lb mastiffs would be about as heavy and danes the tallest

I would encourage anyone with a well behaved dog to consider aninmal assisted therapy. Quite rewarding for both of us.

Googling Delta society would be a good start as they underwrite the insurance for most therapy dogs except for intermontain therapy animals here in the west ITA.org
 
go to your local shelter, let your dog pick you, you always end up with a dog that suits you way better and your saving them from euthanasia quite often

but in all seriousness, they are great dogs. medium size, easy to train, dont shed, work well with children (small dogs too i imagine?)
 
i got one of these. super sick dogs. always wanna be with you never ever run away. mine will sleep in longer than me and sleeps on my bed. kinda a gay little dog but i like it

boxer seriously.....awesome indoors, love to run around and have fun outdoors. they are really gentle with smaller animals, and super smart and easy to train. i dont think i will ever get another type of dog. they pretty much think they are human though...haha
