So my friend is thinking about going to school at U Dayton, and it got me thinking, whats the freestyle scene like out there? I googled and Perfect North is only just over an hour away which seems pretty legit. A lot of skiers live there? Any input at all ski related or not would be sweet

yeah there are lots of skiers there more skiers in the park than snowboarders we have decent rails and jumps there is also mad river in columbus big park there its called capital park if you want to look it up. but yeah def pns is legit

PNS prolly has the longest season out of those 2 options and has one of the best parks in the MW but it lacks length but you can hot lap the shit out of it

Dayton has some of the best unknown street rails in Ohio. The Dayton University Campus has some spots but if school is in session they are quick to usher you out. Walnut Hills Park has some fun easier 7,12,14 stair 6" around rails, all in a line on a hill, just down the street from the school. The north bank of the river just opposite from downtown has a bunch of LARGE rails all in one area. The Wright State rails, the kmart rail, the krogers rail are all good... And then there is the west side which is built on a big hill. Its kind of hoodish but has great spots for filming due to the delapedated buildings in the background. If anyone wants exact locations I would be glad to key you in, I have been hitting the rails there for 10+ yrs.

I go to UD. Been looking for some NS'ers around here. Anyone actaully attending UD on here? also looking to make some trips to PNS maybe.

Mad River is legit! There is so much to do in one run - you can hit 3 legit jumps and a few rails or hit 4 jumps and a rail or two. If you're not feeling jumps you can take a top to bottom rail run and hit 8 to 10 rails. If you don't feel like going to the top you can take the main park lift and hot lap 4+ rails and jibs. There is a super good vibe at MRM and the park crew/management are always working towards making better.

There are a ton of different lines you can take through the park. Another positive is the park crew is always changing and adding features. How many parks do you know that opened 100% the first day?

In my opinion no one puts as much time or resources into a park than Mad River.

Another kicker is that the Ohio State ski team/club will be spending their weekends at MRM. Last year was a blast and I expect this one to be much better.

Yeah I agree with Fitz both parks are legit! I love MRM though because i think it has more features and different lines you can take and we need more skiers!

worddd. my girlfriend goes there, im at colorado state though... but i was there last weekend, and i scoped at least 3 sick ass rails on campus. one particularly gnarly dfd one that was steeeeep but looked sick

Both are pretty good. MRM has a few more boxes than PNS and also a longer run.
PNS has better jumps and a shorter park, however you can lap it quickly which is awesome. Everyone that has anything to do with park is always out there as well. Including the park mangers, cat drivers, and park crew. They are always out asking how stuff is and what needs tweaking.
Yes I do ride at PNS, so I think you should for sure come here. But both parks are dece. And since you are from the dayton/ Cincy area, you should for sure try to make the Eye Trip/ Highlights premiere. Its the same exit as perfects. Highlights is a movie with mostly riders from PNS, you can come out, watch two sick movies and meet some people that ride PNS!

I live in Dayton... There is a small bunch of us near the kettering/ centerville area that all rep at PNS but lookin to go to MRM more this yearNot a bad drive at all to either of em.

Well I'm a Freshman at UDayton this year... I should have a car second semester but I'm gettin a pass to MRM, looking to meet some Dayton skiers

deffinite ++K on that info leak, ill be trying to make a trip up this year to "see my aunt" and ski the city.

Cheapest? Compared to what other schools that have similar education? I'm not trying to bring hate, just wondering your opinion here

dayton. i cant afford that, and i realized i dont have the money to stay here in colorado. my granparents, uncles, parents, and sister all went to miami, so its really the go to decision. i also have many friends there. OSU has class sizes that are ridiculous, and after being here at CSU with 400+ class size, i want smaller classes, and a smaller campus. OU just doesnt have the credentials miami does. BGSU, kent, cleveland state, akron, toledo, they just dont add up. i mean they are good schools, but looking at acceptance rate, job placement rate, princeton reviews, miami is one of, if not the best public school in ohio.
i mean no hate to anyone, and im sorry if i offended anyone. i havent visited anywhere but miami, osu, and ou in ohio (also dayton but thats out of my price range). therefore everything i have said about those other schools is from online research. im sure all those schools are great, but as far as the tours and research ive done miami just seemed the best academic fit... yes im aware of the stereotypes. but a stereotype should not be a deciding factor on where to go to school. Because even though a portion of the school may be preppy rich kids, theres also a portion that isn't. I have 5 guy friends there that are anything from rich and preppy, and they say they love it and havent had a problem meeting similar kids.

Yeah, I guess if you dont want big class sizes that would be the best fit. I had no idea Dayton was more expensive tho, thats wild. I would say OSU, miami, UC, and maybe Xavier are the four best schools in Ohio, depending on what you want to go for.

yea but for transfer students, the scholarships they offer are different. i couldnt really get anything coming from out of state, but if i was transfering form an ohio community college i could get scholarships just about equal to an incoming freshman which is bullshit.

"These awards are made to entering first-year students only."
Trust me, id rather be at dayton

very understandable. well, let me know if you ever come to dayton, there really is some phenomenal urban around here

I actually go to OSU. I would say the average class size for me is between 20 and 30. Yes, the general lecture classes that everyone has to take are larger (My chem class was over 200 easily), but once you get into your majors the class sizes go down quick.

freesking scene is tiny in dayton, but between PN and MR i would go to mad river.. luckily i moved out to utah for school so now its an easy decision :D

who wants to hit urban soon? theres a great 5 kink or so beind marianist with a light pole off to the side at the end that would be sick to tap or 270 off around it. i scoped another rail with a drop off by the dumpsters there too

Check out the New Riverbank Rail (under 75) next to the new Handicap Corral, its a sweet rail and has great angles for filming.
