Nikon Launches New DSLR

They never really mentioned any other mode of shooting other than 1080 and 30p. Safe bet to say it will also have 720 at 60p.

yea nikon is really, really blowing it in my opinion. if i were in the market for an HDSLR, i literally would not give a fuck about nightvision ISO, whatever the hell that is. i just want my damn 720p60p.
also, i love how they say that it allows you to express yourself artistically, when basically it just has a preset effect for everything that previously required some level of artistic talent.

I guess, i was hoping it was included, but it cost just as much as any other mic...

oh wait, did you get an iphone? I'm not if you have mentioned it enough since you got it.

and nikon is just missing again. there is such a wonderful HDSLR market they could make a killing in, but the just seem to focus on the wrong things. If you don't have working autofocus for video on the DSLR, why would you try to figure out a mic that would not pick up the focusing sound?

Nikon is for pictures if you wnat a video camera then dont by Nikon. I dont see the problem. Tell me if im wrong but i dont think they have ever been about video? There is more to this world then shooting skiing.

640 x 424 (24p): 24 fps (23.976 fps)

1280 x 720 (24p): 24 fps (23.976 fps)

1280 x 720 (30p): 30 fps (29.97 fps)

1920 x 1080 (24p): 24 fps (23.976 fps)

1920 x 1080 (30p): 30 fps (29.97 fps)

Alright guys lets start an NS petition. Everyone email Nikon and tell them how pissed off we are that they have an "HDR" option, a flip out screen, and no FUCKING 720x60p. The camera obviously has the processing power of it can do 1080x30. NOBODY FUCKING CARES ABOUT YOUR FUCKING FLIP OUT SCREEN OR HDR. FUCK.

Wow, once again, fucking blowing it Nikon. HDR is dumb, the fake "Tilt Shift" video option is dumb because that shit is just a gimmick anyways (like HDR).

I guess, this is supposed to be a consumer camera. Hopefully they include everything that needs to be included in a functioning HDSLR into the 400/800/D4s.

this is also nikon's low end DSLR. no one was expecting it to have 60fps but the cameras replacing the D300 and D700 will most likely have 60fps and if they don't, Nikon will probably start losing a lottt of costumers.

It's in the same consumer market at the t2i though, which was released over a year ago. The D7000 doesn't even do 60 anything. It's just silly.

I really hope nikon isn't dumb enough to release the next line of pro level bodies without video functions that can directly compete with or at the very least keep up with canon.

yeah i understand that but my kind of weird point was that do you think nikon would put their best video into a low-line camera? i meant to say that nikon would probably put 60fps into their higher-level cams before their low-level cams but im not really sure...

and you guys have to think about how long cameras take to be created/produced/etc. yeaht the t21 was released over a year ago but the D5100 specs were probably created well before that. one of my friends cousins who went to MIT was telling us about how 3D tv's were going to be the future and that was about 6 years ago. a little different but still, the technology being released today is way behind the technology we are capable of producing right now. look at the ipad as another example. the first one couldve had a camera, and been smaller than it was but Apple saved that technology for the ipad 2 so they could make more money. just rambling here but i hope you get my point.

and yes, Nikon would be extremely dumb to release the next line of pro bodies without video functions that compete with Canon.

Truth, but - Apple doesn't have a direct competitor for the ipad like nikon does. Canon is known for making HDSLRs that work well, and if Nikon is trying to compete, they should actually do so. Planned obsolescence for selling technology is only good if the technology isn't already behind someone else's product (in direct competition) to begin with.

I see where you are coming from, and I'm sure that you're pretty on point with what NIkon is doing, I'm sure the stats for this camera were planned a long time ago. But the t2i has already been around for over a year, and this camera has video features that are in between the t2i and the t1i - released June 2009.

It would probably take Nikon going out of business for me to switch to Canon, but I really think they are blowing it from a business standpoint. Of course, that's just my observation and I hope they know what they are doing because it doesn't make sense to me!

actually the d700 (d800) replacement most likely wont, the full frame sensor has a lot more information to transfer so they will have to design a hell of a processor, its the same reason the 5d doesn't have 60fps.

Also there has been some speculation to the d300 (d400) replacement being full frame

Watch Pentax do it haha, that would be fucking hilarious, just like out of no where pentax now releases whatever they call there cameras, and it has a full frame sensor with 1080 60p

They already have at least 3 "low end" DSLR's....d3100, d5000, d3000 etc. etc....they need to release something revolutionary (for nikon) soon. 720@60 wouldn't be a bad start....
