Truth, but - Apple doesn't have a direct competitor for the ipad like nikon does. Canon is known for making HDSLRs that work well, and if Nikon is trying to compete, they should actually do so. Planned obsolescence for selling technology is only good if the technology isn't already behind someone else's product (in direct competition) to begin with.
I see where you are coming from, and I'm sure that you're pretty on point with what NIkon is doing, I'm sure the stats for this camera were planned a long time ago. But the t2i has already been around for over a year, and this camera has video features that are in between the t2i and the t1i - released June 2009.
It would probably take Nikon going out of business for me to switch to Canon, but I really think they are blowing it from a business standpoint. Of course, that's just my observation and I hope they know what they are doing because it doesn't make sense to me!
