Nick Geopper Just another B&E When He's not at Xgames

Well, a dub misty 12 is clearly harder than a steezy 180. Although I like the look of a 180 more, dub misty 12s aren't "not worth shit". Don't know how you bring Gus on here, but his dub 1440s do have style. You just like to hate on Geopper, wether he's doing comps or making an edit of him having fun skiing

None of dip shits have ever talked to Goepper yourself. Kid is just trying to have fun and all you little fucks are getting so upset about him. If you don't like him then dont watch videos of him and stop talking about him. He's just like all you other dudes hes just skiing and having fun which all of you need to focus on more instead of just hating on kid for having fun.

hahaha, are you fucking retarded???? This might be the dumbest thing I have ever read. Have you ever seen a wallisch edit? Why do all you little tards think clothing is the only thing that makes style. Wallisch could wear a god damn ski racing suit and put this kid to shame. It okay people, I realize he won xgames. There is no rule that says you cant be a good skier and not have style. This is why Wallisch is the best. He has everyone else's tricks but he makes them look way better. If you are gonna sit here and try and tell me that goepper makes any tricks look better than any other pro skier, you can eat a dick. Style needs to be adapted more into comp skiing and you people saying this guy has good style is only going to further ruin comp skiing for the rest of us who actually know what style looks like. Just a little insight, style is not and will never be a dub 14 mute with your arms flying up in the air before you land.

So I think I have a pretty good insight on this...

But first let me say a few things, one Nick is an amazing skier and clearly one of the best in the world at slope-style. Two he goes out there and skis for fun all day everyday (like all of us), none of this bullshit propaganda that dumbass Sprigs is spreading that he skis for paychecks.

But people who say oh if he put on baggy clothing he would be like like Henrik or Tom... No i don't think that is true at all. Those two guys have a very unique and amazing style that is much more than just their outerwear... You have to realize what you guys are saying if you have a big bag of technical tricks if you add baggy clothing to the mix you become one of the steeziest skiers in the world. This is defiantly not true.

However, I will say the clothes you wear can definitely influence your style... I mean at least for me (and this sounds super lame) if I get new outerwear I def try to adjust my style to be more smooth or change certain fundamentals of how I ski. If nick started wearing baggier clothing I could definitely see that happening to him... But just dressing him up differently isn't going to change his style.

As to his style now I don't think there is anything wrong with it... Given it isn't my cup of tea per say, but I don't think it is "bad" at all. His style is based on okay "let me get the cleanest grab as possible while trying to get the cleanest landing as well," and it has been that way for years since I grew up riding with the kid. I think what makes for example wallisch style so good is that he focuses on "let me try and make this trick look as easy as possible" and you can clearly see that in his riding.

The whole point of freeskiing is to be able to emphasize whatever part of style you like, and like saying "oh x that shit is wack, B&E wutang is what everyone needs to do" is completely against the founding principles of this sport. Just my 2cents.

Kids who hate on other skiers for stupid shit like this, especially kids like Goepper who are super nice and love our sport, are whats wrong with freeskiing. You kids suck and I hate you all.

Exactly. I've known the kid since he was like, 10 years old. He's just out to have a good time and do some flips. Odds are he doesn't care what you all think about him either, so hate on if you want.

the thing is that the recent b&e's are portraying the exact same thing as this edit. dudes who love to go skiing having fun and not giving a fuck.

I've brought this up with people at MS, and their response is essentially that sponsoring someone like Nick doesn't pull any resources away from local riders; they say that doing so has no effect on the rest of their program. I suppose the way they see it, Nick is the necessary big time comp circuit skier that will bring more people out to the mountain who watch the x-games and see Nick on there but would never see any online edit with a local rider in it. Their hope is that a name like Nick will bring in more money beyond what was spent on his salary which can ultimately be used to support more local riders. That's the thought at least. On the one hand, I see what they are trying to do. On the other I think they should be supporting local riders instead. But MS really does a great job of supporting local riders, and have done so for a while so you've got to hand it to them on that.

In regards to the rest of this thread, all I gotta say is that all you hating on Nick and his style are a fucking joke. Honestly, y'all probably suck at skiing and Nick does not give two fucks about anything you say on the internet. Shit, he probably don't even read this pointless hate...because he's TOO BUSY SKIING. Like you internet lurking dweebs should be.

dude of course he's probably better than all of us, but that argument is crap!!!! i can hate on his style all i want. He is a pro skier, it is normal that people will have opinion's on a pro skiers style whether it be good or bad and this forum is used to express those opinions.

it's cool he's out skiing, hopefully he might get a glimpse of this thread and try to look less like a robot next time he's on the slopes!!!! lololol

Dude Mount Snow has the best park in the east, dont get me wrong it isint even close to the parks out west. but its the best we got up here in the east. As long as they keep up what there doing with the park I am chill.

False, Sugarbush has the best park in the east other then 7 Springs and I'm not even sure whether or not to call that "east". That being said, that edit was sick, I think its great that Goepper wants to branch out into different styles of skiing it's pretty respectable, that edit was sick too, he's probably laughing out loud behind his computer screen reading this thread

You may have got me there, sugarbush is pretty nice. hrmm. But yeah man sick edit, it would be great if he came into this thread and started trolling everyone.

the kid is good and the tricks themselves were dope and are hard. i just dont like his style really. he looks like he is some weekend warrior from jersey hitting the park with no poles

I get that, but recent b&e's suck, and this doesn't, yet kids hate on this just because it's goepper

Geoppers style looks extremely forced. This started to happen after some guys made a picture to call him out for the undeservingly high dew tour score

If you don't mind me asking what do you see as stylish?

Style = Subjective.

Everyone sees what you determine as style in a different way and that is why it can never be judged properly in a contest. Does Nick have style? Yes. Does Henrick have style? Yes. Does Tom have style? Yes. The point is they are all different.

What I am getting at is someone else might actually like the way Nick skis. I personally don't but that is only my opinion. I can respect him on the technicality aspect.

As for competition skiing, style must be something that can be quantified with a list of criteria.

1.) Clean takeoffs

2.) How long the grab was held

3.) Control in the air

4.) Execution of rails (was the entire rail slid?)

Watch Nicks X-games run and tell me what he missed in that list.

You can't have what you deem style in competition. Its too subjective and we would see incredibly fucked up scores if we gave judges the ability to score on what they thought looked good. If you were smart you have realized like I did years ago that style has no place in competition skiing. and that it is best if it is left to the movies and edits.

the problem with the skiing industry is that the majority of the audience is these ungrateful materialistic kids who care more about the outerwear their parents buy them every year than skiing in itself. if they look cooler than you than theyre better than you. anyone defending goepper should just learn to deal with it. this edits the best out of carinthia ive ever seen (despite the 50-50 put in there at 27 seconds)

when people say nick has no style, the're talking about what he does with his arms on boxes and rails, how his skis are never brought together while skiing between features and his general skiing stance. Obviously he is a very clean skier.

Are you fucking kidding me? His stance is what makes him lack style? Go watch Henrick's (the more stylish skier) second place run and tell me that his stance is tighter than Nick's while he is skiing between features. You've made yourself look like an idiot with that post.

kids not chill, shared many a chairlift. son, if you out there I assaulted a police officer, wouldn't think twice bout bustin your head

Yeah I think the point of having the clothes baggy is because of this. I would love to see Henrik or Phil in skinny clothes. It would show people that their style isn't absolutely perfect. Still, this kid is an amazing skier so in no way am I making fun of him or anything. That butter of the wood thingy was so sick.
