It's just as stupid to say American football is not physically challenging as it is to say that soccer isn't challenging. Stop being stupid guys, it's just insanely ignorant to challenge the difficulty of just about any professional sport.
Back to the real topic: I don't think we have to worry about the NFL not existing next year.

Just speculation of a lockout, but it isn't happening these overpayed goons don't need anymore money. The reason they have to play two extra games. Come on you play football for a living.
 
its about more than just pay, its about post career medical care and other issues as well.

the vast majority of NFL players dont play more than 3 years in the league. 3 years is the cutoff for union benefits. So basically players destroy their bodies for a few years and then are left with little education and job opportunities and large medical bills.

all folks think about is how much money the top players get.
 
I'd like to see some hockey players return a kickoff.

the owners just lock the players out from playing, hence "lockout". In the past when this happened I believe they brought in new players to play for a season but that won't happen, the players just want more money or better benefits after retirement I think, so the owners don't want to give up any money so they just don't let the players play.

The larger concern is safety not money. The money is present to give players financial security incase they get hurt and have no job and no education to rely on because they spent their whole lives working to be in the NFL.

Imagine wearing a helmet and then taking a brick and hitting yourself in the head as hard as you can with it say 60 or so times within the course of an hour. Then imagine doing this for 20 + games during a season (I'm including preseason), and at many a practice.

Now imagine your mental status after all of this. This is what linemen go through and why saefty is such a key issue.

I didn't read the thread, but just want to say to the OP is the reason the players would want more money is because the owners want to add 2 more games to the regular season, with out paying the players more money, it's probably insane to think that a guy making 6 million for the season would want more money for 2 more games, but i if you just worked Mon-Fri and got your standard pay and your boss asked you to work saturday and sunday but said he wasn't going to pay you, you'd be pissed as well so why would you want to work those extra two days?

 
Will you pay $2000 for a doctor championship surgery show? Probably not. Supply and demand. They entertain, they deserve it.

For all the people that think football isn't a real sport are kind of gay... It is one of the most demanding sports, you are up against people well over 350 pounds. and most of the athletes are amazing at other sports EXAMPLERandy Moss was given a full scholarship for basketball and footballMicheal Vick was asked to be in the MLB and he didn't play baseball till the 8th grade.

yes but baseball players just stand around all game. for 162 games. I would have to say baseball is the most boring sport.

but that doesn't mean that baseball players aren't athletes. or that baseball isn't a "real sport"
