NFL Might Not Exist

get back to me when you can hit a 90 mph fastball over 400ft out of a stadium.

better yet, the next pitch is going to be a curve ball that starts at your face and ends up somewhere around your knees.

then go stand out in center field and try and catch a ball tailing away from you. once you catch the ball, what do you do with it? wheres your cut off? do you gun him out at home? or is there a better chance getting the runner somewhere else? when you catch the ball, do you make a crow hop? if youre the cut off, how, and what do you do with your body?

there may not be the super ballsy impacts of football. but baseball is every bit a sport as football. not to mention like the person you quoted mentioned, the sheer stamina required to go 100% for 162+ games.

Even just a year of peace and quiet from every retard who can't identify with anything else but his hometown's football team would be nice.

jesus christ like they need any more money??? they get a couple million for entertainibg people- basically a glorrified circus.

football has grown on me in the more recent years. until i was about 20, i never watched it. i was exclusively hockey and baseball. never been a fan of basketball, but football is one hell of a sweet game to watch with your boys. the 40 second downtime between plays allows for you to converse, and everyone can focus again just as a play is about to go down. some nice excitement too, knowing that one play can be so crucial in a game. all it takes is one bomb downfield or a few broken tackles and you've got yourself one exciting moment. same in baseball. bases are loaded and your team is down by a couple and shit gets really freaking intense. love those kind of sports; where you can socialize between plays, pitches, as there's an obvious break in the action, but can refocus and enjoy the excitement when it comes back on
that said, i dont think it's unreasonable for NFL players to want more, since a career is really only 10 years and the amount of money the NFL makes off of them is absolutely ridiculous. what people will pay for entertainment. there's something wrong with the world when the richest people outside innovative entrepreneurs and business owners are people like george lucas, spielberg, and oprah.

nah the average carreer is less than 3. we just pay attention to starters and great players. There are so many other players on the roster, not including the practice squad guys

that might be the reality, but i dont think people shoot for 3 and call in for retirement. after about 10, given no injuries or anything like that, youre pretty much too old to play anymore and can say youve had a successful career.

the nba is gonna lockout next year as well...... hockey will be king next year... nfl looks like it will resolve its probs.. the nba is going to lock out for sure...
and yes .. i guess i could go watch the fucking portland timbers play soccer.. but all that flopping and pretending to get hurt. and bitching to the refs... goddam play the fuck on.

You do realize that was last year right? Look at when I uploaded it.

Furthermore, that doesn't change the fact they skate away from me like the plague. I'm on the right for reference.

In hockey? oh probably, I am terrible. Anyone even close to my weight would fuck my shit up if they checked me. I can hardly skate.

To each their own. I played last season at 205ish and I'm trying to get to 225 for this upcoming spring ball season.

I led our team in sacks and forced fumbles as a linebacker. Tied for 1st for total tackles.

were you skating against kids in the special olympics? your buddy on the left is a poster child for why women shouldnt drink while theyre pregnant

your internet tough guy attitude leads me to believe you'll never grow taller than the stumpy 5'5" frame youre in right now..enjoy living with short man syndrome the rest of your life

It's not during their career, it's afterwards. It moreso applies to the guys that played, got payed shit money, sacrificed their bodies and now are getting the shit end of the stick. The current players want those people taken care of.

And lets say some of the current players are too goddamn stupid to keep their money, it'd be nice if they could have healthcare once they retire as well.

I agree with Frodo 95% of the times i could probably quote him with a majority of his posts and put "."

the amount of injuries that would occur /the dozens of players careers that would be shortened by an eighteen game season is ridiculous...no sport has that kind of strain on an athletes body

it kinda already is... they need 2 or 3 bye weeks for each team. that helps players rest up the little injuries that all of them play with throughout the season.

Exactly.

You have to remember that these guys are the absolute BEST in the US (even world) at what they do. There are 1696 players active at any time during the season. That means that the worst player is in the 99.99945% percentile in terms of football ability in the US alone. Even if you had a more "common" job, you would be making bank if you were that good at it. If that person plays for 3 years at 300K, thats 900K. Which would be ok to retire with if you were 65. Not 25.

Except for rookies, the get paid too much.

This is an exceedingly mature and intelligent thread and I applaud all who have contributed their erudite and nuanced opinions. Thank you for making Newschoolers.com the bastion of intellectual conversation it is today and may the thought provoking discourse continue far into the future.

fuck you and the horse you rode in on.

You soccer playing horse fucking asswhole.

Football is better cause we have more black people playing it and as we all know black people are the best athletes in the world...nuff said

Not sure where you are going with this. Ur homie called me stupid, and i said the stupid ones are the crazy savage dudes. so by our combined logic you would be a pussy.
