New Twintips for a Racer

I am looking into investing in some new twintip skis. I am a ski racer

and i like the stiffness of race skis, i ski on Fischer Worldcup SL and

GS RC4s. I also enjoy skiing the powder and the mountain when i go out

West. I am looking for a pair of twin tips that are decent in the park

but also will take nice turns when i tell them to like race skis do and

that can ski powder. I am a very good skier and am 5'7'' 145lbs. My

current twintips are Rossignol Scratchs and they are way to soft and

dont turn like i want them to. Any suggestions are appretiated. Thanks

ya i race too but i ski probably differnent then you, i like soft skis (my anthems) when im not racing, but one of my friends in the same boat as you and me, he has ar6's and likes them becuase they are fairly stiff and made for all mountain. you should check those out, also another option in the Blend by Line. its basically the same type of ski, stiffer, directional, all mountain versatility, you would really like it when you are not racing.

consider some Volkls. The new bridge is pretty damned stiff, fat enough underfoot, and should be turny enough for you. They say they are for 50% park/ 50% all mountain, but i would say something more like 30%/70%. They should be what you are looking for.

i made that same switch years ago, and i went witht the prophets, the blends would work well too, and like others said, the bridge and mojo 90, also the 4frnt MSP but with a more conservative sidecut, its better suited for big GS turns

salomon foil, volkl wall, 4 frnt msp, atomic urban punx. anything with a wood core basically and mad stiff.

for real, volkl's have always tended to be stiffer and i wouldnt think the bridge is any exeption. at 92mm i think that that would give you just a slighter more advantage in pow then in the park but not by much, id go w/ 40%park 60% everything else but yeah definitly stiffer then your rossi's

I think you'd like the Volkl Bridge or the 4FRNT MSP. Personally, those are by far the best performing twin tips for a stronger skier that I've used

buy the volkl bridge, they are very stiff.... as stiff if not stiffer that my rossi 9x gs skis with race plates on them, and my friend says they absolutely rip

I agree...fischers are the way to go if you race on them as well. You know its a good quality ski and I've heard they can take some shit.

fuck all that. the skis you want are ninthward firstbloods. stiff, wide, fast, lots of camber, the things are stomp machines. i broke my park skis so ive been riding my bloods in the park for a couple weeks now, they are super light but still have incredible stability and the flex and camber makes back seat and front seat very stompable. and it will up your legitness in the park 5X just cause they are nines. you can get them for a decent price too. check backcountry.com

You're right about them being stiff but not about racing on them...they don't have much sidecut and they are true twon so they are usually mounted true center. not good if you're used to tails that are 1 foot long. Unless you're going to be skiing a lot switch I wouldn't get them. I would get a twin that still has a more traditional shape if ya know wadda mean

i think your looking for a ski that doesnt exist. one that will carve really well, but also skis pow well is gonna be hard to find.

but if i had to go with one ski, i would say go with the k2 seth's. they are stiff, moderatly fat, and have a narrow waist and wider tip and tail for carvin.

....that are mounted at reccomended. I love spotting racers in the lift line, its so blatently obvious most of the time. So you're looking at a ski with more of a race turning raduis, thats like 14 right? Most skis that i know of are 19-24 ish and if anyone on here doesn't think there is a difference then i suggest giving it a try, 5 meters is a long fucking way. Sidecut wise i think the nordica ignition would be good for you but you'd probably find that too soft. Trouble makers would also work pretty well for you too.

Elan M02 or Scott P3

both of those skis rip all mountain and in the park

I race too, and they're my twintip skis of choice

I'm a racer and I've got Atomic GS11's for racing and I've got a set of Atomic Tweaks for everything else. My race skis are hard and they just dominate the course. If you are racing GS then you really don't want something that has alot of give to it, you'll slide out of your turn or end up taking them too wide. With mine, when I take those gates, when I push they push right back so i don't lose an ounce of speed going threw the turns and they don't slide out on me. I really don't know of any twin that is that solid, but I could be wrong.

Wow guys thanks for all the replys i still dont know what to go with at first i was thinking maybe 4frnt msp or armada ARV, but then theres the public enemys. I have never really considered Volkls Bridge or Fischers Addict Pro thinking that they are race ski companys. i was thinking something more in the 170s range. The Stockli sound sweet too

Head JO pros are dank and stiff but I also really like volkl's for their flex pattern and they own for carving

the arvs are super flexy i just flexed them yesterday but it was only in the shop. i have blends and the rip and are pretty stiff for a park/all mountian ski. i would also look at prophet 90s, there like the blends only stiffer and the 100s are just fatter so you might try those too if you ski the pow more.

Dude, get the Line Chronic Blends, or blends or whatever they call them these days. I tried a bunch of twins after coming off race skis, and these ski perfectly. stiff enough to lay into your turns as hard as you want, but if you want to learn to do some buttering, they are just soft enough for that too. I love my skis, when theyre mounted at midsole, they have a short enough tail to sink in powder, but long enough to ski switch without any problems. 90 waist will feel pretty big after being on racers, and its the most versatile in my opinion for the park, powder, all mountain. they perform great in bumps too. Overall, Id rep these skis all day, they perform the best, not to mention lines edges, camber, are the most durable on the market. most twins you have to adapt your form to more of a back seat, but these allow you to ski how you know already.

Fischer addict pros would be great for you. I race for my school and have rc4s and i havedtried the addict pros. They ski like a race ski but still have the goods for a decent park ski. And before anyone says racers are fags I only race because it lets me ski more often. without racing i would only get 35 ish days tops. with racing I get 45-60

i no volkls r mad soft just go and demo some skis also salomon foils would highly recoment they turn so good for twin tips but kinda softish and just get softer as time goes on but next years

i would wait till next year if iw as you or the summer and get a sick deal on some skis cuase there real cheap plus salomon 09's have wood cores they are prob gunna be rediculous

definitely, the salomon threat is sick, i demoed it a week ago, and for a 350$ ski with a wood core it rips. i might even consider picking up a pair myself just for park, thats how much i liked em.

I am the same way as you are, I like soooper stiff skis that I can go fast on and keep an edge. I ride volkl karmas (i think this years version is th mantra or katana not sure though) but if you want something wider the gotama is good. I would say that volkl makes their freestyle skis stiffer than most companies. If you go to a good shop they'll hook you up.

I 've heard Fischer Addict Pros are super stiff, also, it's true about a lot of racers having public enemies.
