New Twintips for a Racer

lib techs are the stiffest damn ski out there. Last years stl's were damn stiff too ( or maybe it was TNK's not sure)

If you're racing on race-stock fischers then you'll probably want some Addict Pros. They have the same core as the race skis. The only downside is they aren't very "fat".

walls are not that stiff either. they rip, but I wouldn't consider them the best choice.

I could see the msp, but I still stand behind the bridge as the best answer

If you want something that skis like a race ski go with the volkl mantra its like a fatter version of the racetiger. But my 180 racetigers are still my choice for pow even though they are opnly 60mm underfoot

I raced for the past 10 years and i would have to recomend arvs. I had AR6s for my twin this year and they were great in the park and helg great at speeds( my coach let me run a super G training run on them and I had no problems. The ARV is just a wider version from what i could tell when i tryed them and they were great in the pow.

yup thats me. i like them- they slay all mountain, they just have absolutely no pop

my racer friend has ARVs, which he can carve well on and they work well in park/powder.
and another kid on my team has bridges, which he can carve/do powder well, but they're mounted wayyy back and blow in the park. so either of those two are good, just be sure to mount the bridges forward

k2 seths might be good too, they're really stiff. they might be a little scary in the park though

i would not recommend foils. i have them and love them but being a racer you will probably find them too chattery. and they arent making them next year btw. perhaps the suspect? its wood core but i have no idea how stiff. if you could find some old volkl karmas they would be money

how would the nordica ignitions go in this category as far a twin tip with carvability? may be a bit narrow for powder though...

Just a point - I don't think you are ever gonna have a pair of twinnies that will perform and turn like you want them to, race skis have much more powerful energy transfer into a turn (unless you are skiing backwards!), so it's never gonna be quite the same.

Agree with the general opinion of this thread though - stocklis or Volkls. I have Karmas which are really good but discontinued. If you can find a pair I would give them 5 *****s

if you mount the bridges too far forward they will blow in the pow...it's quite difficult to get this right without having one ski for pow and one ski for park. (one = one pair of skis, not literally one ski)

Mount them back = better for carving and pow

Mount them centre = better for park and switch and butters and jibbage and general pissing around. You can mount rockered skis closer to centre...but you wouldn't want those in the park! (que "should I use hellbents in the park" thread)

everyone that is saying salomon foils...because you can't get them anymore are the lords basically just foils?

i heard the lords are an amazing ski. I ahvent rode them but i hear they they are and amzing all mt ski. And they kill it in the park too.

how are they for groomers? I'm going on holiday with people from work who mostly ski groomers etc. anyone know what the turn radius is?

The lords? They have a good turning radius from what i hear the one guy from my shop demoed the and he said it was the most fun hes had on skis for a long time. He usally just rides park but he ended up riding more trails then park because they are so much fun.

no...

Misconduct is the girl's version of the silencer
MissDemeanor is the girl's PE
Nancy is the girl's Seth

no problem.

that being said, depending on if you are a strong skier, how much you weigh, and whether or not you want a soft ski or not, I would probably not recommend any of those skis for you... but again, that depends.

ive been skiing for thirteen years.

im definitely advanced/expert

i weigh 115-120, and i dont know what kind of ski i want. basically one that can handle the east coast ice, and still let me jib with ease. i want a park specific ski, but it also needs to be able to slay all mountain.

people will tell you all kinds of different skis, and the truth of the matter is, they are all okay at everything... it all just depends on personal preference and what you want to do with the ski. What I mean is, compared to old style skis, any new ski will do very well in whatever condition you put them in (ie forward mounted dumonts in the pow, or ep pros in the park), the skis are just plain built better and much more versatile.

some might tell you to jump on the missdemeanors, and you would do just fine on those. Others may say the invaders, which would also be okay. But depending on what you want to do, and how you want the ski to respond, you can probably get a better ski FOR YOU.

I personally think that if you want a true park ski, not something like the salomon foil (same exact ski as the lady's mynx), and you want it to be able to handle outside of the park just as well, I would go with the Volkl Wall.

I have ridden this ski a few times and absolutely love how it feels everywhere. It is the perfect flex for an all mountain style Park ski, and it holds an edge amazingly well for a center mounted ski. If you wanted something more along the lines of an all mountain ski, a Saloman Mynx would do fine. If you think you could handle a 167, another great option for a park ski that kills all mountain is a guy's Rossignol Scratch FS, but don't get the girl's version (it will be too soft).

if you need any other explanation feel free to ask or pm me

that was possibly the most helpful post i've gotten here on ns.

THANK YOU.

i've been primarily riding on volkls and atomics, but not freestyle skis. because they're both predominately known for their racing skis, i though that their freestyle ish would be sketchy, but apparently not.

i think im gonna get the walls. either the walls in 161, the misdemeanors or the ARW's in 164. they all seem to suit me.

not to mention the wall's look DOPE.

+++karma for you.
