New trend in skiing

im sorry but i see this so much all over the site, who are all these faceless kids in saga/jiberish/fd/any trendy freeski brand, people need to stop paying so much damn attention to what other kids do/wear and just fucking ski /rant

Why?

I judge people by their clothes on the street, so why wouldnt i do that on the mountains?

Dress up like a hipster = faggot

Dress up in eg. matching saga or fd = gapper (unless i see you work your ass off to learn new things)

cant tell if srs.....

also when you say "matching saga" do u mean saga pants and jacket or teh same color pants and jacket, because if having both saga pants and jackets is gaperish then fuck it im a huge gaper

You're right! I totally agree...

The CRIERS on NS have never even met those kids with the fresh and potentially oversized outerwear! It's as if all of you WHINERS (you know who you are) quickly dismiss anyone reppin nice stuff as talentless, pretentious douchebags. What color, size, or brand these people choose to wear, for whatever reason, is their own business. What pace that they enjoy skiing at is also their own business. They could be the nicest person you've ever met, a super cool dude that skis just like you! So, why do you insist on letting it affect you so much? Why do you let it affect you to the point that you post on the net and continually think about it? Go fuckin skiing or something, and try being a little bit more enthusiastic about our sport.

i totaly get what ur saying for sure. we dont really have that problem to bad where i live, mainly due to lack of terrain parks, but its def annoying when you trying to get speed for the jump at the bottom and you get cut off by some one, this is what annoys me the most. if nothing else , keep the jump lane clear, this is how people get hurt.. thats the only reason it annoys me, i hate comming up short ona trick, knowing in the back of my mind that i would have had it if i hadent been cut off by a group of skittles heading to the next box to hike. no hate at all, i just hate when they ruin the jump lane. really anoying.

matchin as in bright green pants and same colour jacket, i just tossed out saga as an example, but hey why do you care how i think after all, i just gave out MY opinions. If you think that doenst look stupid, its your opinion, and im not gonna make you change it

The worst is when they wait on the lip of a rail to hit the next feature, and when you hit the rail and do the features in a line, they get pissed because you didnt wait in line.

still happens here in PA, not necessarily hot girls, but they just stand there and talk/watch...

the most frustrating thing is the flocks of kids who stop in between every feature so that there are always large groups blocking the entire slope. I'll get a video up soon to show this but you cant even ski from one rail to the next because there's so many of them, and when you do, you have thirty five 14 year olds screaming at you calling you a snake and telling you to wait until it's your turn, when in reality you're the only one skiing the line as it should be.

i have nothing close to the nicest stuff but i actually try and almost learned switch lips on a down box yesterday. amidoingitrite?

but posers suck

and the kids who hate on anything creative or orginal

Thank you!!!! this is me well besides the full tilts, saga suit, and nice pair of skis.

Dont judge people just because they cant hit stuff in the park. Maybe they are like me and Pool who like to hit the mountain and actually enjoy what nature gives us :)!!!

I'm not that annoyed because of those "cool" skiers just stand in the corner, no. little kids (under 10) seems to get more retarted every year. Those slalom kids are so cocky sometimes. Everytime I'm taking speed to an obstacle, some speed bomb kid goes in front of me ruining my run.

haha, the only nice pair of skis i have are my jjs and a pair i got from my dad, my park skis are breaking apart

oh ya this makes sense. i hate when people are like that. i'm one of those kids this year just because i'm recuperating from an accident last year. i blew out both knees and im just riding this year. but when i come back next year, and when riding last year, i always tried new shit and others that rode with me just look steezy and don't do shit. it's annoying and i see where you're coming from.

In east coast canada it actually is, up until this season most kids were holding it down in the park, in general and developing their own style.

I have friends who look steezy in their full first drop outfits and other friends that look like they borrowed their parent's clothing to come out skiing. You know what, it's fun to ski with good people no matter what they're dressed like. I don't understand why you would hate on somebody for buying a brand like first drop or saga. That's just the way they want to look. The brands aren't exclusively reserved for people who slay park simply because they were designed to appeal to that type of skier. Pool probably looks dope when he kills a pillow line in his Saga suit just like a kid wearing an ugly jacket and tight pants would look cool if he switch 270d onto a rail. When you start judging people by the brands they wear rather than their actual skiing ability, you're just being a dick.

My philosophy in "Newschool" skiing: If you're not eating shit periodically (if not very often), you're not really a park skier (Tom Walnuts excluded). It's pretty hard to eat shit when you're blocking a jump/feature.

This, on warm days I wear a black tall tee underneath a red hoodie which is under a blue long sleeve with Stony Brook University as the logo, I haven't ever owned anything ski related clothing ever, except my Armada t-shirt for daily use.

Yeah I admit I'm not the best park skier. But ill do some laps. Yea i wear big jackets and sometimes tall tees. I just find it comfortable to ski in it and i like the style. I'm sorry if big clothes or certain brands has to equal someone being good at park because thats not how it works. Not in skiing or any aspect of life. Just saying.

i have to agree with this post.

this is really my first year doing stuff so i'll admit i'm terrible. but sometimes just watching other guys tear it up is cool and it helps me learn a little. but i do go and hit rails and boxes and try to learn new shit on them.

Here, this shows what I'm talking about. Look below this feature, that's the "line" for the flat box. It goes the whole way across the slope. The gapers decked in new gear line up across the slope in between features and when you try to hit them in a line you get shit for not waiting in their little line when you're the only one actually doing it right. The worst part is that this was taken at 10:30 in the morning, by 3:00 I had to leave because the park was basically unskiable. 10x worse than this picture

I also fall under this category. People can talk shit but I do enjoy being cozy and warm, and saga seems to do that for me. And I slay the pow, but am only half decent at park.

Who cares what everyone wears. I go out every day just to have fun. Not everyone knows were to stand agree. But what there wearing has nothing to do with it. Its there lack of skiing etiquette. Newbies or what ever. You can help them understand how dangerous it is to stand wear they do? Frankly though for safety reasons they should have a sign saying not to stand in front of rails or in the middle of the features etc... I know at some places they have a patroler that hangs out in the park and does that for us. Nothing wrong with people watching maybe they are trying to see how its done or watching a friend? Just stay off to the side out the way!! But really what they wear has no barring on anything. if they can afford sick shit awesome for them even if they cant ski. I don't think Ive ever had a full top and Bottom matching. i skied for years with different sized poles un matched:] What ever. At least they are feeding the Hill and the equipment manufactures money for new technology. If no one bought the shit or no one was at the ski hill there would be less development. And really who can say features and gear are getting worse not better. When I can afford it I want some sick shit to!!:]

Not bagging on you at all, i was just wondering what these roving flocks of shitty kids in nice outerwear are like, because I either don't really notice or haven't seen any

Lulz there are so many jealous and insecure young skiers on NS. Stop thinking and analyzing, and start skiing.

Whooooooooooooo gives a fuck?

As long as they aren't blocking a feature or in a landing of course. The people that really piss me off are the people that come into features way too fucking slow so you think you can hit it behind them but then you have to skip it at the last second because you are just going to knuckle/fall off like the asshole in front of you did.

I wear Burton jacket, tight pants , Old scott goggles and its funny to rock features better then kids in saga bagy pants and airbreaks.

I ride at Mt. Bachelor there's not too many but they are out there. There's one that is a pretty cool kid I know but he has a saga suit and only hits flat box's.. Spoiled cali kids for yah.. I dont know if anyone skateboards or bikes but today I was Skateboarding at the Santa Clarita Skate park on vacation and there is someone we can relate to these saga park sitters.. Spoiled Californian Scooter kids! Crazy expensive scooters and they can't do anything but one footed bunny hops in front of my lines. It just reminded me of the moral of this thread.

Ya the other day I was at my home mountain slaying switch dubs and some gaper cut me off on the landing but, then I awoke and realized there was no snow on the ground and my home mountain was closed.

Boarder cut my Son off in the trees today made him turn left over a steep noal to avoid collision. He flew in the air and hit a tree:]] Ouch!! Hes OK but his buddies went after the boader because he didnt even stop to see if he was OK. The board left track marks on the right tail of his JJ,s it was so close. They raged on him hard!! Son got the wind knocked out of him but is OK. Hes skiing in banff for a week. Today was there fist day. Could have been a sucky week injured first day!!

Its a big mountain everyone just needs to respect everyone and give each other space . Its a real speacial thing being abel to be on the mountain. Theres room for all types of people ,just go have fun.

So i never post but this amuses me... I read on here about people thinking Full Tilts are only for freeskiers, although all the 12 year olds fail to realize Full Tilts have been on the market since they were first invented in the late 70's under the name Raichle (look it up). Hell my parents were shredding pow in Raichles up in Bridger bowl before most of the 15 year olds on here were even someones wet dream.

the problem is definitely worse at smaller mountains, you wont see so many gapers at big resortsstill i feel you

Im 15, I have last years Wallisch fulltilts, new armada ar7 skis, salomon magic jacket and its huge.i can do 360 and hit every rail in our resort, is this bad?
