know what ad is really starting to drive me crazy?

this one:
CASALA_leaderboard_ad.gif

It's come up as the top banner ad 9/10 times for the past couple months and I just can't handle that face staring at me.

I've tried everything to get rid of it, just doesn't matter what I do or whose internet connection I'm on or what I've been searching or anything it's just always always is there. At the point where sometimes I open up NS, see that add, then have to close NS right away because of it.

We implemented a rate limiter, which should cut down on the number of times the ad plays. Its a start.

So if the video has a low rating its likely the ad wont play?

Is there any chance you guys can filter out the spam ads? Is anyone else getting them? Stuff like:

"Eat this, never diet again!"

"Diet companies Humiliated by this video."

"WORST THING TO EAT EVER BECAUSE YOU'LL TURN OBESE."

I have no idea why I'm getting them as I haven't really ventured outside of my usual ads, so I'm not sure why the ad program would be driving them my way.

Does anyone else know how to eliminate these at all? Adsense has that little arrow yo can click to ignore the ad and stuff, but it's not present here. So an alternative would be sweet if this is just an issue with my own broswer.

I like Ads that are:

Skiing related

Short (15 seconds or less).

If an ad has at least one of these requirements, then I have no reason to complain.

The Toyota ads are:

Not skiing related

30 seconds

Annoying as fuck

Fuck these ads. Bring back ads like Line, Bloom, Marker, Target. Anything but these shitty ads

You're going to love the new LINE ads.

haha, someone pay for the cost of the ad, and I'll make epic content. There must be some wealthy skiers that want to control NS pre-roll ads, just because you can!

how desperate for money are you?

So please, stop complaining about a free website delivering you videos of your favorite sport, for no extra charge and all you have to do is watch a 30 second ad thats not even that bad.[/quote]

Another way to look at it is that users provide content they created that ns profits from via ads. Those users may profit in exposure, but only the ns content team could be seen as profiting (and profiting indirectly if I understand correctly), from the ads. The consuming user, on the other hand, has to pay the price of watching an add to access this concentration of content. This thread and others are evidence that that price is reaching the upper limit of what some are willing to pay. So its understandable that people are irritated.

That being said, I use adblock because I don't want to, and will not watch a 30 second add before every video I watch, especially if its just a 20-30 second clip like in Katrina's latest article. However, right now ns's videos are beating adblock. Personally, I don't have a problem with all the banner ads. I think that irritation caused by video ads causes users to block all ads. So if most of your revenue comes from banners, I'd suggest sacrificing some video ads so that users don't try to block everything.

But if nothing else, Bishop or whoever, please consider this suggestion. Once someone watches a 30 second ad that they cannot skip or mute, put a cookie on their browser so that they don't have to watch another ad for 15 minutes or so. I used to spend so much time watching edits on ns, but there's a 95% chance I'll click away from the site if I have to watch several ads consecutively.
