New freeski shop?????

have you guys been giving your skis stone grinds since you were 11 as well. hand turns are time consuming as well as tedious. they invented tuning machines for a reason, they are very very helpful. depending on what make and type of tuning machine it is $3000 is nothing. if you go into ultimate in banff they invested $220,000 in the machine in the window. for 3 grand your probally going to get yourself a shitty old reichman belt grinder but at least its better then nothing

you dont need a machine just do it by hand, i can petex, wax and sharpen 2 pairs of skis in 1 hour, its not that time consuming

i can tune by hand as well but if you can get perfect edges by a using a ceramic edger and it only takes a minute or two. and a grinder will be able to flaten your base and restructure it with a stone grind, it will only take a few minutes. if your trying to run a store you're going to want to be able to tune as many skis as possible in the shortest amount of time without sacrifcing quality to make any kind of money. also you dont make much money doing tunes, the store needs to make its profits in sales

I did not mean to insult navigoator, and if I did, I apologize. I agree with your assessment on tuning above as well. I am simply annoyed at the subtle lack of respect for ski instructors that is evident within the newschool community. Instructors get paid to ski, irrespective of their own personasl ability, that fact makes themn professional skiers.

I agree that a lot of ski instructors are legends in their own minds, but that doesn't detract from them as one of the backbones of this sport. If it weren't for the introdutory-level ski instructor or coach attracting new people to the sport, we wouldn't be enjoying the benefits of a flush, growing industry with money to blow on r&d, etc. to make our twintips, and great shops that can carry excellent product.

I think they key to a successful shop like the one being mentioned above is the knowledge that all skiers and snowboarders are worthy and add to the snowriding community in their own way. So make it chillin', make everyone feel welcome, and carry quality product at reasonable prices, and voila! You've got the snowrider's paradise :)

last year i had a ski instructor look at my skis and tell me i was what was wrong with the sport of skiing. it made me laugh.

last year some gay ass racers looked at my friends scratch pros and tell him that they were to big, what a faggot, and the skis were perfect because he is like a midjet and then a racer coach came and told us that the 1080 foil boot was a racing boot. no offence to anyof you racers out there but get it strait
